Awww, man! I am glad you liked the video! I was really excited when I found your "game" "Tool" lol. When I found the Story Engine, and I am really excited about the World Engine (sorry if I mixed up the name) thats being kickstarted! Cant wait to check that one out too. These are sooo cool and I am excited to play around with these more and see what I can make with them. Thanks for watching, for taking the time to leave a comment, and for making such a cool tool for GMs/DMs/Writers!
Huh! How have I not been recommended your channel before? Clear voice, great presentation. Subscribed. I was only trying to find review the Story Engine... found new channel to follow as a bonus!
✋🤚 (there was no emoji so I'm using the display hands you gave 😅) I had actually seen this product reviewed by another UA-camr and wasn't really drawn to it but I can see how this could be extremely helpful for people that want even more prompts over the looser style from the Deck of Stories. At this point, I guess it comes down to budget or what inspires you more as a GM. Here are some +/- I can see between the two so far for those trying to decide between the two. Story Engine Deck: + Price: $89 for complete set (not including tax/shipping) + Four prompts per card + Total number of combinations can get huge! + 9 total expansions - Could be "complex" to set up - Instruction book may push people away - Takes up more space for storage - No tips for prompt follow up Deck of Stories: + Simple design for finding the flow of card positions + Less storage space when not in use + NPC cards and Sensory cards not required but a helpful bonus if needed + Prompts give a good amount of detail to inspire quests/stories + Tips for prompt follow up - Price: $106.99 for complete set (not including tax/shipping) - Main box is annoying to open each time - Total number of combination is limiting - 1 Prompt per card - 5 total expansions (not including NPCs)
Hahahaha, yeah I know!! I realized after I had already uploaded and scheduled the video and I was going to make a pin comment but youtube wouldn't let me until after the video posted (so I think the emoji you used is perfect!). Also thank you so much for the comprehensive break down for people! (I usually leave out prices in videos since they often change and you can't edit videos after you upload them, but they are useful to know). I have a few more things like this coming (kickstarter stuff so it might be a while) but I might do a big comparison video eventually of all of them with pro's and cons. Another thing to keep in mind is that for both of these you don't need to get the complete set and the value of each varies if you are just intending to get the bare minimum. I like them both for different reasons (but I also just love stuff like this in general soooo...) Thanks so much for watching and for leaving such a helpful comment!
No problem, I'm glad I could help! I LOVE stuff like this, so it's been a lot of fun trying them out and sharing them! Thanks so much for watching and for taking the time to leave a comment!
Maybee, I'm not sure the best way to approach that but If I can think of something I will try. Might do it as a shorts or something. Anyway, thanks so much for watching the video and for taking the time to leave a comment. (sorry for the delayed response, tryin to catch up on comments I missed before/during my channel hiatus)
I already own these wonderful product but I was curious to see your reaction to it. However, thanks to you I found out about the new kickstarter! I’m hyped! 📖
Yeah I LOVE the story engine deck, they just did another kick starter and I am so sad I'm going to have to wait a year to get the lore masters deck cause it sounds soooo cool! Anyway, thanks for taking the time to leave a comment!
It was supposed to be "📖"
Thank you SO MUCH for the review! It was thoughtful, in-depth, and beautifully shot, and I'm so grateful you decided to cover The Story Engine!

Here are some +/- I can see between the two so far for those trying to decide between the two.
Story Engine Deck:
+ Price: $89 for complete set (not including tax/shipping)
+ Four prompts per card
+ Total number of combinations can get huge!
+ 9 total expansions
- Could be "complex" to set up
- Instruction book may push people away
- Takes up more space for storage
- No tips for prompt follow up
Deck of Stories:
+ Simple design for finding the flow of card positions
+ Less storage space when not in use
+ NPC cards and Sensory cards not required but a helpful bonus if needed
+ Prompts give a good amount of detail to inspire quests/stories
+ Tips for prompt follow up
- Price: $106.99 for complete set (not including tax/shipping)
- Main box is annoying to open each time
- Total number of combination is limiting
- 1 Prompt per card
- 5 total expansions (not including NPCs)
