Yaaass! I'm such a big fan of them (not at all obvious, lol), and I also interested in trying out the adventures in the booklets. Hoping for my party to level up so it'll be easier to fit them in my world, but I'm also tempted to test one or two out with lower difficulty and see if it's still fun. I've always been curious about these. They all look fairly high quality, and it is nice that they all come with statblocks, etc. The only drawback I see with these is that once you use the encounter, then that is pretty much it. Maybe some of the minor monsters can be used again later, but for the most part these all seem relatively single use...and that's a lot of cheddar for something being used only once. I like painting so I'm sure I'd get my money's worth either way, but these are certainly an investment.

You can always switch things up and re-use the minis. Have used my Hydra a lot of times and the Orc band is exellent for smaller encounters :)

The hoard boxes come with general minions that can be reused all the time... 3 melee and 3 ranged versions of orcs, goblins, kobolds, skeletons, ghouls, yuan ti, and bandits

Awesome! Thank you for showing off the sets, and doing a deep dive on what comes in the manuals. The one criticism I'd give Steamforged games is their listings are not very detailed.

see the thing is, with the minions, to use the dragon as an example, i ran it for my strong / high level players - i ran the kobolds using the listed adjustments to a party of 4 level 15 players with good items, and i basically just calculated the CR appropriate kobolds for it to be a medium difficulty encounter, then i played them as rat bastards like kobolds are.
They had a harder time with the kobolds than the dragon

The serpentfolk are way more based on Aztec aesthetics than egyptian, they even mostly come with macuahuitl bladed clubs.
(it's why despite my love of serpentfolk I passed on this set. The mesoamerican aesthetics would clash way too hard with the western europe/northern africa style settings I usually ran D&D games in)

Yes, that's a great distinction, for some reason I couldn't think of Aztec while filming and the closest vibe I could think of on the spot was Egyptian with the sand feel that I got. Anyway, thanks so much for watching and for taking the time to leave a comment!

While the sets are easy to use, I'll change almost everything; Depending on the party of course. The CR ratings are so-and-so and therefore does not use it that much.
I mainly buy the sets for the minis and inspiration.
