In India we used to have those rechargeable ones with a switch years ago but the market's since moved on to automatic bulbs. Once the power goes out, they automatically switch to battery backup for up to 8 hours. You really appreciate those lights in the bathroom when the power goes out and you're not fumbling in the dark 🙈
@@specialopsdave 1. With the mains on and the switch on, the bulb works normally and also charges the battery. 2. OMG OMG OMG! That last one is perfect for my garage. Even with 100 watt bulbs it always seems so dark, ordering these up to surprise the wife with the gift of light. Thanks for the +Husband points Much ❤️
Keep in mind that even lower wattage ones will do the trick just the same, dont necessarily have to get a high wattage one for it to do what you need it to. I use the DAKASON LED Garage Light 60W Adjustable LED (out of stock atm) for my Attic and its still 100x better than a normal LED Bulb.
Walmart currently has some 30W ones on sale for $15 in store, i bought 3 and they are very adequately bright compared to higher wattage ones. After checking them with a meter they are actually 30W, not under and not over but flat out 30W.
Awesome to hear, when I think of the time I wasted replacing lights hardwired ones with strips, I coulkd have easily just used these for the same results and saved money.
I love the LED bulbs that have a light sensor built in, I have them installed in my carriage pole light and each light on each side of my garage door. They turn on automatically when it gets dark. A lit up house is a safer house.
Got like 9 of the E-Bulbs that were at Walmart a few months ago.. I didnt fully understand how they worked though until the power went out.. I figured the light would automatically turn on when the power goes out, but for it to turn on, the light switch has to be already on or turned on manually for the bulb to light up (it can tell the difference). They come with a socket adapter with a push switch so you can use them as a portable light as well. The Deformable lights definitely come in handy in attics and basements, but you dont need the $30+ all metal ones (Spoiler: They can still burn out because of heat even with the huge metal heatsinks), $14 or so one on Amazon does the trick just fine without a possible fire hazard.
I do have the battery backup bulb but my all time favorite has to be Philips sceneswitch which changes from 100% to 40% to 10% power simply by flicking the switch off and on again. Ideal for most situations and comes on at the last used setting. I can read at night and then dim it down so it doesn't blind me when I need to get up in the middle of the night.
I love them all. By the way, back about 15+ years there was a bulb that had a built in timer in the base. It screws and looks like any light bulb, but it will power off after a specific period. Very useful when you forget to turn off the light in a bathroom or closet. I still have one of the few I bought and still works great. I wish they have them now
Nice quick little video! Got me thinking.. You should do a video and show us the best motion sensor plug-in style lightbulb. Similar to those ones, in that they just plug-in, rather then the hard-wired flood lights. I'm having a heck of a time finding some for my garage. Its tricky trying to carry the baby in the car-seat out to the garage/car and having to hit the light switches. The ones i've found just don't have the range (20-30ft?) to sense me without having to try and do a dance to get them activated! haha Thanks again for your content!
I'd love to even have those "deformable bulbs" in the garage but wish they were motion activated, or even if they featured a separate base that they plugged into that had PIR motion sensors in them? hmmm... 🤔
The backup bulb also has an automatic sensor for power outages. If you turn off the power at the breaker, you can see the bulb will come on with the lamps switch automatically, no need to touch the switch on the bulb.
Thank you, Anyone could use them but I have some older relatives that have them just to avoid lighting candles and burning their house down. Good for people that don't need my Ecoflows & Jackerys or Honda generators.
Philippines they sell bulbs that come on during brown outs 2016 was there n bought 1.....Also you can turn it on in the palm of your hand, wet your hand it brightens up more....Was amazed your body grounds it same as outlet without power, grounds to illuminate
I have those deformation bulbs... the only problem comes from its strength. That is it is too powerful without a way to protect your own eyes. Never look directly at that thing, especially if you have become accustomed to a dark room. You will see the LED diodes for a week.
As always amazing. I was a little confused about the globe that had a battery in it. So can I control the light when the power fails from the light switch on the wall? Thanks again for all your hard work.
Thank you. If the power goes out you do need to go to the bulb to switch it to on. It automatically charges without ever thinking about but you must manually turn it on when needed, I think they did it that way so that it wouldnt use up the power if you didn't need it. So if you came home from work to a dark house yo would get the full 5 hour backup runtime from it when you turn it on.
Back in the late 60's they actually made a battery powered plastic replica light bulb as a kids toy with a plunger-type switch you depressed with your tounge to make it come on. Had Addams family branding on the box.
I have the second bulb. I was curious to see how long the light bulb would run off the internal battery? 4 hr 30 min later I finally plugged it back in. It never even dimmed. It is a decent bulb. I keep it next to my bed charged up .
Just get a decent flashlight so you don't have to disassemble your lighting fixtures in the dark each time the power goes out to be able to see around your home.
The POLARPRA is actually a lamp the gets its power via standard bulb socket. It's not a bulb, but a group of LED panels on swiveling connections. It is useful for what it was designed to do (area lighting)
In May I bought a 2 pack of 150W Deformable Ceiling Garage Lighting with 4 Adjustable Panels from amazon. I installed them in my 2 attics. They illuminate as you said. Just don't look at them. Cheap too about $20 for both.
