Bravo! 👏👏👏 My one and only suggestion is that you either put a tag and label on those early learning whoopsies, or applique them onto a plain background and make note of them in a crochet journal. Believe it or not, you may find those things you saw as failures or just not quite what you wanted may be the starting point to create your own patterns one day or as a reference point when you discover a printed pattern has significant mistakes. Good for you to show off your learning journey and I wish you a year of fun and relaxing crocheting ahead! Just remember to stretch and if possible, work on controlling the hook from elbow/whole arm movement over just wrist movement to prevent getting tennis elbow. I know that doesn't sound entirely logical, but it's being tight and turning your wrist to control the hook that can injure that tendon. As someone who learned by taking too many commissions one Christmas season, I had to learn the painful way. Stretch and take breaks! 🧡
For me, it's not the right hand/arm that's troubling me, but the left. My middle finger especially gets so stiff and crampy from supporting, whatever I'm working on. I'm hoping, it'll get better, once I'm working on larger items, that are easier to hold. But right now, I can barely do 15 minutes at a time.

@raraavis7782 have you tried the ergonomic hooks? I haven't yet but I've heard they can help with hand pain (though I'm not sure about the left, I feel you on that)
Best thing is that it also most of the time only uses single crochets and decreases/ increases and slip stitch so one doesn’t need to learn much if they’re just a beginner@@ivorydelarose
For just a year’s experience you are doing fantastic. I’ve been crocheting for 50 years and there’s still so much I can learn. I have started in the last few years creating a picture file of all my completed projects as a reference. Just snap a picture and write what yarn, hook, stitch or pattern in the description. And don’t ever be afraid to try new stitches and techniques. I wish I would have practiced Tunisian crochet when I was younger but now my old arthritic fingers can’t hold the Tunisian hook. Keep up the good work!
@@ivorydelarose I’m a beginner and I finished my first project days ago, it was fairy hairband. I didn’t realize this isn’t the real beginner crochet, glad I used the right yarn😅 Also, my thumb is peeling and it’s still not healing hahahh
I love that you started with small stuff tbh, when I started I just decided I could crochet a freehand bag with no crocheting background whatsoever and I almost lost my shit so props to you for doing the right thing and starting small 🫶🫶
I started as a child and I have small blankets I made with my dad saved. As well as a few other things. ❤ it’s always nice looking back. Makes you proud!
wait... Why did I never think of crochet-ing book marks and still fold the corners of my books (because I keep loosing my bookmarks)?! lol! Beautiful work Ivory!
I did a couple single colored squares, and went straight into making a beanie. Its taken me like 8 hours by now and I still have some rows to go 😭 But Im liking how its turning out even if there are a couple mistakes.
As a beginner myself, I appreciated this so much! I would love a tutorial for that sweater because I am currently trying to make one but it is a disaster.
Yeah I would love a tutorial forcyour sweater. I'm so happy for your progress I been there done that read the whole pattern before starting. Lol I been crocheting many years but still like beginner friendly stuff. I have made many hats and several cardigans and shawls. And afew little things. But I livecthe pillow case. Just keep on keepin on. I still make mistakes but still persevere.
Wow!!! Awesome video clip! It’s great how you were brave enough to share your beginning crochet work!! That was brilliant because we could see that you didn’t give up, you kept at it & you got better with each new project!! Thanks for sharing!!
Your doing so great I am soo proud of you, I only have a few things I made, I need to become obsessed with it!!! I really need to come out of my comfort zone!!!!
That sweater is sooooo pretty I love the colors. Ahh that is not helping me refrain from buying way too many different types of pretty yarn 😂😂😂 I just started crocheting today and.... I'm HOOKED hehe 😊
Love this! Thanks for showing your journey and not just the highlights. Nothing is a "failure" as it helps us to.get to our other skills and lessons. 🩵🩵
My five year old daughter has just started to crochet and has been having fun making dresses for her little dolls and bracelets for me. They may not look great, but she is doing a brilliant job.😁 It's so nice to see her eagerness to learn.
Colors of the sweater are extremely pretty.
I agree! They also remind me of Uma from Descendants! Like it os exactly her colour pallette🐙
Yes, the colors are very pretty😊 even though they look like the zoophile flag 🤢

Thank you for showing the fails too 😭😭🙏 I feel like nobody ever shows the small mistakes
I can definitely recommend plushies/amigurumis. Personally they keep me more motivated to actually crochet
I should do more of those, I’ve only done one so far and I loved it so much🫶
Best thing is that it also most of the time only uses single crochets and decreases/ increases and slip stitch so one doesn’t need to learn much if they’re just a beginner@@ivorydelarose

That’s such a good idea, I love that. I just learned Tunisian crochet this weekend & i could see how it would be hard, my hand is still sore from it😅

Yes that’s definitely the key 🔑 if I started with something big I would’ve gave up, it’s good to understand the basic stitches first
So fun to see people's quick progress! That's crochet for you - once you get the hang of it, you can GO!
That’s so true!
I started as a child and I have small blankets I made with my dad saved. As well as a few other things. ❤ it’s always nice looking back. Makes you proud!
That’s so cute, I love the memories tied to those projects 🫶 I can imagine how special that would be
That granny square is like Bruno. We don’t talk about it. Lol. My first granny square was a tragedy too girl. Don’t even worry about it. lol.
lol yes it’s Bruno 🥲😂
wait... Why did I never think of crochet-ing book marks and still fold the corners of my books (because I keep loosing my bookmarks)?! lol! Beautiful work Ivory!
Thank you! 🩷

I thought crochet was supposed to be a way to relax! But i am stressed tf out 😢😂😂
It is relaxing! In a stressful intense way sometimes 🤔😵💫
It took me 20 years of crochet to finish my first sweater. You're doing amazing!
That’s gonna be me with my blanket. Im already 5, going on 6 years in
