    So cool to see your brevis. I finally have a small group of juvenile brevis in a species only 20 gallon tank, and they have gone onto my fav fish list instantly, so much fun to watch.

    Very interesting about the substrate! Currently have these in a heavy planted tank with pearl gourami, angelfish, and corydora. They do fantastic together. Keep temps below 78° and helps reduce aggression

    👍😎 Really like the blue around the eyes, probably looks way better in person. Bulldog face… I thought look like a grumpy old man (like me).

    One thing that was most interesting was when I built my own aquarium in 1978. I had mostly South American cichlids and used a tannic solution for the water. Without knowing what I was doing I also threw in about 4 Neolomprologus Brichardi. Yup, African cichlids. They took to my rock structure right away but really surprised me most when I saw little black dots darting among the rocks. They bred in a South American tank. Though I never tracked and tested it, I'm sure it was higher in pH and much harder than water in the Rio Negro.

    Do you think they could work in a Tanganyikan community set up

    • @PrimeTimeAquatics
      @PrimeTimeAquatics  Рік тому

      Sure - always better if they are the only shell dwellers in the tank though.

    Brevis was the other Shell dweller i have been considering for my Brichardi/Multi/Biotope Tank.Slowly gathering up pieces for it but hopefully be ready by End of Summer.
    FYI:For anyone New to Hobby..Please listen to Jason and Joanna's Advice.I of all people KNOW how Expensive this Hobby(AKA Lifestyle) can be, truly Daunting at times.Do not Be Hesistant to look for Inexpensive or even Free Stuff on Marketplace/Craigslist/Etc.Utilize your Local fish Clubs,Fish Swaps and their Auctions to the Fullest Extent.You never know what you might find for what would Retail( in stores and online)in Monetary Value: Sometimes Pennies on the Dollar or Free .
    Do your homework first by Researching what Regular Retail prices are like for what you are looking for.Take Screenshots,Snap Pictures,write it down,make lists,do what Helps You document this Research.Then take that Knowledge and apply it wherever you are looking at those sought-after Items.
    Yes all this takes time . However Its is the Only way I've been Able to Proceed forward with Fishkeeping/Aquatic Plants and Achieve what i have thus far.

    Hi Jason! What about N. Brichardii, would they make a good community tank with the Brevis? I have been wanting to add to my Brichardiis and she’ll dwellers are my first choice to add…. Thoughts?

    • @PrimeTimeAquatics
      @PrimeTimeAquatics  Рік тому +1

      They tend to overrun a tank with fry so sometimes they fight a little more.

    • @PrimeTimeAquatics
      @PrimeTimeAquatics  7 місяців тому

      Just give them the water parameters they need and shells. They will do the rest.

    It's hard to believe there isn't any driftwood in Lake Tanganyika. Large portions of it's shoreline are lined with trees and shrubs, as are the rivers that flow into it.

  • @craigperry1704

    These fish haven't seen lake tanganika. They are captive bred regarding temps and PH.

    • @PrimeTimeAquatics
      @PrimeTimeAquatics  Рік тому

      That doesn’t mean their basic physiology has changed. Their physiology is still optimized for water conditions similar to those found in Lake Tanganyika.
