Vincent Price roasts Bette Davis (LEGENDADO)

- Опубліковано 3 лип 2015

Now THAT is something I didn't expect to see -- Vincent Price doing stand up! And he does it very well!!!!!
VINCENT PRICE ONE OF BEST ALL AROUND ACTORS EVER;; Class act can doany Genre incl CAMP. Looks great in Tux not like Hoboe's of today's boys.
Vincent was very funny. I saw his lecture in the early 1980s. He told lots of hilarious anecdotes about his movies and plays. He was a real raconteur!
agree
There was no end to his talents.
@@ILBARONE45 Comedy always seemed very natural to him. Even in his horror films he always had that bit of a twinkle in his eye.
Vincent Price was a true treasure. And so was Bette Davis.
@Necroglobule Supposedly, right after Crawford died, Bette Davis went to a party where she saw Burt Reynolds. She went over, and told him, "Well, the bytch died today!" Burt then introduced the reporter he was talking to. Without losing a beat, Bette said, "But she was ALWAYS on time!"
@@kali3665 yes ! one off the kind bette
Necroglobule eh, no. Its a fun joke. Nothing more, nothing less
You’re the loser in this situation, not them. That level of anger should be addressed by a medical professional. Good luck.
I can assure you, Vinnie looked forward to this particular evening with his many friends and enjoying every moment. He could take a joke as well as lay in out there to stumble over.
Vincent Price - just wonderful. They don't make stars like that anymore!
glamdolly20
Absolutely.
He showed us that he could crack people up as well as give them the creeps.
I'm not sure if you heard about this, but he once retold Little Red Riding Hood as a werewolf story:
There wasn't a dry fly in the house.
*(EVIL LAUGHTER)*
@@williamnorton9547 Ha! Ha! Love it! Vincent was a one off - and much missed.
Yes they do.
@@Gumardee_coins_and_banknotes Name one.
Love this guy. I'm 24 btw. Got into classic films myself
When actor's and actresses had Talent and Class.
@Hawk Holloway That's just it. You didn't have to look harder for it back in those days. It was front and center. I hear the same thing about music today. You have to dig for it. The good stuff should be dominant.
Joaquin Phoenix seems pretty cool. He's always polite in interviews even if the one interviewing him is insulting, but yeah it's rarer now.
@Hawk Holloway lay off the member berries... stop being such a trumpian snowflake
@Lucatme Look everyone. Another millenial snowflake taking personal offense that someone doesn't find todays "whatever" the best it's ever been in human history.
@@wufongtanwufong5579 the internet gave yall brain rot.
Never knew Vincent could be so hilarious. I always admired him for his horror films
This is when roasts were adult but without the vulgarity of today’s roasts. Consequently writers relied on being clever.
.. and the audience was able to follow ..
he made a joke about losing her virginity, as well several jokes about boobs and knockers.
but your observation was good too
Kenneth Desmond Mosley amen, and they were all laid back and seemed to genuinely like each other.
Kenneth Desmond Mosley
That was true of humor in general back then and I regret that that now all we seem to get is toilet humor and mean-spiritedness.
bhill4492
It was still milder than some roasts I've seen. The Bob Saget on comes to mind, but then if you've seen his stand up it's no surprise.
Vincent was hilarious but every other joke was pretty vulgar. Nothing new there :)
Not only was Vincent Price and incredible actor he was also a collector of Fine Art and also a world-class Chef whom along with his wife wrote many cookbooks. Just saying!
Some of his cookbooks are actual works of art in my opinion. If you check it out I'm sure you would agree! Plus he sold those cool shrunken head toys when I was a kid just saying. I'll leave now.
Vincent Price is irreplaceable. Multi-talented. The 10 Commandments, Dr. Phibes, Edgar Allen Poe stories, Edward Scissorhands, Michael Jackson's Thriller, and a Sindbad movie show his versatility.
I have his cookbook - took me 10 years of scouring used bookstores to find one! Also, met someone who, as a child, had Vincent come and stay at her house, as her dad and Vincent were friends. She asked Vincent "why do you make those terrible low budget horror movies?". He told her, "They are what pay for my true passions - travel, art collecting and food!".
The so-called roasts that go on today have NOTHING on those done by Dean Martin.
"Many critics haved knocked Bette, but that is how you measure a great star - by her knockers."
poetcomic1 it was GREAT!
Unfortunately that joke would be too politically incorrect to tell now...
@@georgie3 Not in the slightest
My God look at all those legends at the table, Bette Davis, Vincent Price, Dean Martin, Henry Fonda, Howard Cosell
I will always adore Vincent Price. One of my most favorite actors. His distinguished visage and that voice alone could delight, frighten, amuse, terrify...he was a gentle and gracious man, a classic gentleman whose kind is all but lost to us. RIP Vincent.
When roast were composed of wit,
rather than obscenities!
Entertainment for all.
now they are just mean jokes. it's not entertaining unless you like insult comedy
@@kalevala29 Or profanity.
@@kalevala29 Did you watch the same video as I? Or is insinuating someone is a slut clean comedy to you?
No, these Dean Martin roasts are weak. The jokes are lame. The Comedy Central roasts are actually funny.
@@cameronwhalley2161 You must be around 20 years of age.
I was a child in the seventies and watched this when my parents did, right or wrong, this was America and these people were the real deal, true talent and the ability to laugh at ourselves.......................what happened to us ?
I was born in 78 I've only seen the reruns and it's amazing every time all those old roasts. Your right it's so sad to see our society like this we have lost our sense of humor which is the innocence in all of us. "LONG LIVE THE GREATS" and may they all rest in peace.
Trump
Noting happened.
This was an era where only the best of the best got noticed outside their home town.
The entertainment industry (and indeed, basically everything you saw in media at all) was absolutely minuscule by comparison to today, if you *weren't* incredible, you simply wouldn't be known more than an hour from where you lived, and certainly wouldn't be remembered.
The media infrastructure just didn't exist then that does today.
The Internet simply showed that most Americans (like literally any group of people) are incredibly average, and will happily watch other people being equally average.
Ditto. '66 for me.
The same fate as Baby Jane?
Hard not to be sad that this caliber and honorable class of celebrity is no longer available to us. Instead we get rude crude and self imposed gods of all things social.
It’s there. It’s just sadly overshadowed by nobodies with UA-cam channels catering for the intellectually redundant in their masses. Let’s start a campaign to bring back this era and give the world some brains and class.
I’m selflessly offering my humble services to headline the campaign...(& be a massive star).
R I’m in
@@katycheeseburger Work on your English, Ivan. Use a dictionary. You're making a fool of yourself with your *pompous diatribes* (that's an example of an actual redundancy for you)
lucatme No, this is intellectual vocabulary, not you tube slang 😂
That's got to be one of the best damn roasts I've ever seen. Though I have to say that Dean Martin's snide comment at the end killed me. "Vincent almost didn't make it here tonight. His hearse broke down on the freeway." Love it.
3:51
You just KNOW that the guest of honor at a roast can give as good as they get, and Bette Davis doesn't disappoint.
Vincent Price had fantastic comedy timing. His delivery of these jokes was superb.
The stars of yesteryear had distinctive voices. They gave many impressionists lucrative livelihoods. Nowadays there are no impressionists because all "stars" sound the same.
Miss him . Come back to us Vinnie 🌼
To be funny without causing offence. There's an art to that.
Vincent Price was a gentleman.
Bloody brilliant you go Vincent Price I love it
Vincent Price was a distant relative of mine. Mother's side, we shared the same family tree. We had plans of meeting him and he passed before we could. RIP Vinny
15 years later Bette and Vincent did acted together in Whales of August.
In 1939, they were both in "The Private Lives of Elizabeth and Essex"
Vincent even mentions that time they worked together. So her saying they never worked together is in itself sort of a roast.
He's such a nice man too. He bought some carvings from my grandfather. He bought him lunch too.
That's so awesome!
Remember when comedy didn't need profanity, or vulgarity....? When innuendo and razor sharp wit were enough to leave a crowd in stitches.
An actress who could be vulnerable and wicked at the same time. Love Bette Davis!
2:37, he couldn't keep the straight face against bette's laugh. you were a legend, mr. price. always will be.
Without this series we would have never gotten to see how hero's at thier best
Bette loses it after the shoulder bra gag.
She went to hell, heaven and full death to return to have the time of her life. She nailed her reaction
What an honour, to be roasted by such a talented stylish gentleman as Vincent Price is. And Ms. Davis really deserved it. Old Hollywood...
Hilarious, love Vincent. These old roasts were so much better than the nonsense today.
Watched this in 2019 and cried, where have all the good ones gone? They will never be replaced, their talent too great to be emulated.
Vincent Price was 100% class....R.I.P.
Truly I'm in the wrong time era....
God how I miss all of them/true cinematic artist!
Me too
Wow! Good old Mister Price nailed it. That was hilarious!
I love them both and I'm 37! If you don't know the greats what are you doing with your life lol.
Bette Davis looks just like Tilda Swinton's character in Snowpiercer.
@Hawk Holloway
I would have sworn it was true... if I hadn't looked it up and found out she actually based it on Roxy Collie Laybourne. Tilda is one of my fave actors. She did marvelous work in Susperia 🤘
@Im wearing tights that I borrowed from your mum.
She once visited my home town a gave a lecture at a film school. Shame that it was only for students. I could listen to hear read baking recipes in like 20 diff voices. Remarkable actress. Shame she only has 1 Oscar.
Or does Tilda Swinton's character in Snowpiercer look like Bette Davis?? No offense intended.
'Celebrities' today could learn a helluva lot from the stars of yesteryear.
And they never had to appear half naked.
"She's Got Betty Davis Eyes"
A great song
Vincent Price spoke in Thriller
@@Cjnw he also lent his voice to number of the beast by iron maiden
Vincent Price also was on Alice Cooper's album: "Welcome to My Nightmare".
@@elpolarbearThe band originally asked Vincent Price to read the intro, but decided to hire Clayton after Price refused to do it for anything less than £25,000.
When roasts didnt need pointless, moronic, constant foulmouthed twattery.
Humor sutil e inteligente. Vincent Price foi brilhante em sua apresentação!
Just watched, on TCM, “All About Eve”. She was so beautiful and marvelous in this picture.

So good to see Howard Cosell, Nipsey Russell, Henry Fonda, Vinnie Price, and the rest.

Can't help but think of MJ'S thriller when hearing Vincent's voice 😊😊
I can't help thinking as well of Alice Coopers album Welcome To My Nightmare when i hear him
It's interesting that Bette worked with Vincent Price and Christopher Lee.
Great upload! Miss the Vincent.
Wow, never seen this before. Amazing. There aren't Legends like this anymore.
What a legend, A Queen of the silver screen!!!
I liked the way Henry Fonda moved the chair for her. Sadly the classy Hollywood is gone forever.
That "classy" time only appears so classy because all dirt was
swept behind the curtain. It was a highly racist, homophobic and misogynistic time. Btw, all of these gentlemen's decency forms date from the same period as "women belong to the stove" and are based on the idea that women are weak and need male help and domination to live.
I was born lin 1952 I was lucky to grow up with these great TV shows
His iconic voice ❤
OneofInfinity stroke of genius using it in thriller
There will never be another quite like Bette Davis!
Vincent and Bette --- two of my most favourite actors --- I had the complete Bette Davis movie collection and lent it out to someone --- it never came back.
That person should be hunted down and jailed!!
Vincent Price did an excellent job. He should have done more of these.
Loved it when Vincent Price did comedy!
There's a nice little story about BD. While she was working on a film a British actor who admired her fiestyness heard that she liked to do puzzles. He presented her with a round puzzle. She looked at it and barked "Round puzzle huh? What are you trying to do to me? I prefer straight edges! ( adding sweetly) " But Thank You Kindly just the same"
She was a great Dame!
Vincent Price was one of the greats
Vincent Price was handsome. He made several good movies. He also used to be on several eps of Hollywood Squares.
These guys are rare genius talents
All my favorites - alive again. It makes me feel happy and sad at the same time.
Thank you for posting this 😊 Iv not seen it b4. I adore Vincent Price.
She's got Bette Davis eyes.
No their her own
Excellent, just wonderful.
I need to admit it... they had a lot more class back then. Kept it funny but very respectful. Today the stars look like they want to kill one another during these roasts.
Outstanding! 💖
In memory of them all
💞👏💐💖💐👏💞
I miss this Hollywood:(
remember being scared by his movie the tingler..scared me..when i catch it now and then i laugh so hard..such great childhood memories
His voice in MJ's Thriller gives me nightmares. That's how good he is.
I saw that movie in college, in a theater where they'd rigged the seats to vibrate.
my mom was a teenager then. she told me they would stop the movie halfway, turn off all the lights, and announce over the PA "the TINGLER is loose in the theater!"
SCREAM!!! SCREAM AS LOUD AS A CAN!!! ITS THE ONLY THING THAT STOPS...THE TINGLER!!! LOL.
I saw Vincent Price in a movie called ''his kind of woman''. It was hilarious,Price stole the show. Check it out !
Vincent killed that roast!
These are the kind of roasts I appreciate!
Always loved the Dean Martin Roasts as a child.
Hilariously funny and ingeniuos!
Thanks a lot for uploading and sharing.
Best regards luck and health.
Bette Davis la mejor actriz, la más guapa y la más simpática del universo
Bette and Vincent appeared together in two movies: THE LIVES OF ELIZABETH AND ESSEX, and, some years after this roast, THE WHALES OF AUGUST.
Watched him since I was a kid. Loved The Abominable Dr. Phibes and all the movies he made with Peter Lorre.
Anyone here remember that Bette was also known by the moniker: Mother Goddam. She didn't take crap from you. She also screen tested for the role of Scarlett O'Hara. Then again, so did every female in the business.
60 years old here never, ever heard that. Don't think that is correct.

Vince is a genius ..
This guy scared the shit out of me when i was a kid looking back at it now he was a true horror icon
I'm usually reluctant to read the comments when watching a video with actors or musicians from previous generations. Too many people going on about how much better everything was and how superior the older artists were to anything from today. It's kind of sad and pathetic, really, to be unable to see, hear and acknowledge the great talents of today. These older artists were great in their own right, and certainly don't need to be elevated by slagging what's out there today.
Man do I miss these! I remember watching the Dean Martin roasts when I was a kid. Back when actors had class and you had to be cleaver with your monologue. Not just throw out a bunch of F* bombs for shock value.
Vincent Priceless!
When I was in my teens, I had such a crush on Vincent Price!
Is it just me, or does Vincent Price resemble a sober Foster Brooks? Imagine if they teamed up on a roast as brothers!
Vincent Price was good at Everything!~
Everybody is dead....but...today no is so like before. Vincent Price was a great actor and like a actor from horror's movies....obvious than would be a great comedian too. The line btw the horror and the ridiculous is skinny. Who did one well...will do the other too. I MISS almost all this big stars....! Today in day....everything and all are...
