  • I interview Jozef Chen, a grappling phenom who recently took Bronze at the ADCC trials while only 17 years old and relatively new to his jiu-jitsu training. We talk about how he gained his skill level at such a young age from using BJJ instructionals and drilling techniques in a conceptual style influenced by Rob Biernacki.

Chen has a more cerebral and disciplined approach to bjj than about 99% of people I have come across in bjj.

A lot of this has to do with neuroplasticity and time, I think. Being young with a lot of free time is a massive opportunity but few are prudent enough to capitalize on it. Jozef is uncommonly wise for his age, and I am very excited to see his innovations. He's going to be a wizard one of these days.
