Also this vid doesn’t show the o ring that’s inside the b bolt. If one service this unit. Please get a bigger o ring. This way you’ll save your chain from damage. The o ring that’s in there is to small and permits to much play on the derailleur. I did this to mine and SRAM NEED TO FIX THIS. I though that I couldn’t get the gears index right. After this fix my index was right on point. Feel like my 11speed gx.
Hi, My cage is bent. My derailleur hanger is aligned properly. If the Cage is bent and sprockets dont align to casette gears anymore, how do you bend it back and verify it will be in alignment without tweaking it while its on the hanger and risking bending the hanger again??
Hey bro thanks for this, so basically I put the bearing screw where the cage screws into the spring and it doesn’t screw all the way in and it won’t come out. Any idea how to get it out?
Well…as pointed out in earlier videos..I found quite a few of these in bike shop bins. Typically, the plastic substance that makes up a substantial part of these derailleurs. Breaks. Why 40 years later, after simplex made usage of plastic parts for derailleurs, the material is still being used? An for mountain biking lol
@@kaluginden Only one spring on this derailleur…between cage and the body. Are you talking about the snap ring that holds the hanger bolt? You see me putting that towards the end
That locking feature is the clutch on this derailleur. Not as sophisticated as the cam type clutches/or roller bearing one’s found on higher end Sram/shimano models

If I remember, the derailleur cage on these models are slightly at an angle. If you’ve bent the cage, it’s gonna be probably impossible to bend it back to it’s original morphology
Thank you for making this video! I actually bent my sx rear derailleur cage and was scared to take it off. This gives me reassurance. Nice video man

There’s a female screw on the other end. Remove plastic cap
