Wow, this totally fixed the cage wobble on my GX derailleur. And as an FYI, the part number for XX/XO AXS B-bolt kits works as well. The mechanical XX/XO kits were not available, so I gambled on the AXS, as that was all I could find. No issues whatsoever. Thanks!

I just ordered an X01 AXS bolt kit (11.7518.092.001) and it did not fit my mechanical GX Eagle lunar derailleur properly. The bushing is a bit wider than the derailleur itself (like 0.5-1mm), so even with the bolt tightened down, I could slide the derailleur side to side. It's a bit of a hack, but I filed the bushing down a bit and it fits fine now.
B-Bolt kit works like a charm!
Hey Tony! The upgrade got rid of all play. Re-set my low/high/indexing after installation. Major difference. My shifting is crisper and overall drivetrain quieter! Thanx again for the assist!

At first I was sceptical to this, I didn't thought that it can make a difference. But I decided to try as it's an inexpensive upgrade. After installing, the derailleur required some adjustment on b screw and limit screws, but now it shifts significantly better!

Incredible! All play gone from the bolt area. Also had to adjust my limits which really shows how much it was being pulled around before.
And if I ever break the derailleur, I can just remove the bolt and put it in the new one!!!
Appreciate the videos. I took off my GX derailleur which has been working fine to upgrade to the AXS GX kit. The GX AXS derailleur also uses this new style of bushing so that’s nice it has the upgraded piece (it better for an expensive drivetrain!). When taking off my original lunar GX mech the split ring came out along with some other washer. I thought this was some metal shard that sheared off the bolt and tossed it. Oops so I may need to buy the $10 B-bolt GX kit or spend for the $30 for xx1 bushing kit if I ever sell the GX mech or go back to it..

They seriously need to revamp the rear mech. Its like draggin ur nut sak just on one side on 27.5
Just did this mod on my new Sram GX 12 speed derailleur after seeing your Video on this problem, Sram should just fit this across the board in my opinion. My new GX derailleur didn't last very long at all before it developed play in it, yes I ride through the Wet muddy UK winter, which doesn't help any of the Drivetrain components, and yes I do maintain my Bikes.
Hard to find stock at the moment of this part, I ended up buying one from the US which made it even more expensive than it should have been.

Bonjour Tony ! j'avais un problème de jeu aussi sur mon X01 déjà équipé du nouveau system, j'ai trouvé en magasin un tube en alu de 12 mm ext et 10 int pour remplacer la bague qui coulisse, plus un peu de téflon de plombier pour l'étanchéité, graisser int et ext et serrer le tout, et c'est reparti pour un tour, 3.80 euros le tube, c'est beaucoup moins que 25 euros, merci pour ta vidéo et bonne continuation !! ;)
thanks for the video... my NX 1x11 happened to unscrew and I lost that spacer plate. went on service and they donated me an used NX eage with bent cage... just managed to swap the plate and bolt and it seems to be working. I was asking on some FB groups and all i get was buy new derailleur... take it to service... I'm sure it would cost me at least 50 denaros on service...
Just followed this as I've bought a new GX derailleur XX1 Chain and shifter to replace some SX stuff which came on my Marlin 8. I thought I do this before it all goes on the bike. Thanks
Thanks i changed the bold on my gx 12 speed derailleur and it worked like a treat. in my case i have to unbolt the derailleur when transporting the bike and the original snapring came off every time. 😂

The crazy thing is, the new b-bolt is pretty sloppy in the sleeve, probably worse than the original b-bolt in the derailleur body. The improvement is probably just from mashing the o-rings in there which would explain the new pivot friction. It makes me wonder if you can just jam an o-ring in the stock b-bolt assembly somewhere and get the same result.
Dude your comment helped me a lot. I bought dozens of O rings trying to fix the side play on my GX eagle. It works so well. Just replace the original wavy washer with a 15(outer diam) x 2(thickness) rubber O ring and the side play is completely gone.
I have an X7 derailleur with what I assume to be a seized B bolt. I haven't found any good content addressing a fix, but even knowing that it's called a B-bolt is a ton of help. Once I get time to tinker, I'll see if I can follow along and get it off my bike!

A lot of people don't like the NX 12 speed group. I went with the GX on my hardtail and so far it is working very well

The limiting plate of the NX/GX is completely flat where is slides alongside the derailleur. However, the XX1/X01 limiting plat has a curve at the end which appears to push against the derailleur when using the the larger cogs and creates a slight bow. I'm not sure if this is enough to affect long term wear, but I'm considering flattening the side of the XX1 limiting plate to prevent this. I only have an NX and GX derailleur, so I don't know if the XO1 /XX1 has a different design to accommodate this.
Interesting observation. Did you ever flatten the side or figure it's probly fine the way it is?
I did this recently good result when on the hangar NO PLAY so maybe should stop the overshifting problem people complain about.

Should we be greasing the b bolt inside and outside the bolt sleeve. My derailleur has endured 5 years of xc and trail riding and fear my derailleur is toast because mine still has play after the x01 b bolt upgraded. Great video, thankyou.
Hoping the grease will take up the remaining slack in the bolt assembly
@@JP1THUG I don’t think the bushing and bolt necessarily need grease but it would not hurt and could be beneficial. My only concern is that it could attract dirt.
@TonyHob hey there, I've just taken it apart and greased inner and outer sleeve and derailleur internal interface. Reassembled and there is no play now what so ever, so happy. My concern was there regarding that to but figured the grease and o ring seals together will keep that assembly water and dirt tight.. thankyou for the assembly video
Hello, I upgraded my Gx bolt with this new XX1, but there is still play on it, like a big play, about 0,5mm in the bolt and makes the derailleur go offset by more than 2mm
Have you installed it on the bike? The play goes away when installed. If the play is with it installed make sure you did not miss anything.
Add GX jockey wheels and you get a decent derailleur.
Can we use a xx1 gold bolt on a GX 12lunar grey????

Thanks so much, SRAM is very annoying. My shifter on the handle bars is only shifting 10 out of 11 shifts now after 2 months. I've already had it apart because it was binding up and not shifting at all... I hate NX
I ended up using the NX cassette with a GX derailleur and shifter. It works really well. NX, not so much
Your issue could be a result of how the bike shop put it together. I have the NX drivetrain on my Giant Trance and have had no issues.
Is it worth coating the o rings with a layer of silicon grease? They are expensive - $38 for a bolt. Gotta love Sram.
It will probably help, on the other hand it could attract more dirt. I agree, that price for the kit is ridiculous!
If anyone is wondering, this mod doesn't work on SRAM Eagle SX. The limit screw plate is different and this one doesn't fit.

if you are referring to the bolt and bushing assembly, it does not need to be taken apart and greased

Hi Tony, I tightened the b-bolt to 11nm (according to spec) and the derailleur can swing a little bit on it, if I tighten it to 12nm then the derailleur doesn't swing at all. Do you know if it should be tightened just enough to let it swing freely or should it be tightened fully until there is no swing at all? BTW, I'm checking this with no chain on.
Mine does not swing at all once mounted

@@manzthatrmanz23 I left it at a point where it is not fully tight to allow a bit of swing in case it is required. No issues so far.

Hey Tony, im thinking about trying this to fix a problem there the b plate is slipping past the little nub on the derailleur. Do you think the tab on the B plate sits higher and will fit better in the hanger?

@@GokkunGuru well it shifts perfect like it should and the bolt is two piece (has a metal bushing) instead of one piece, no other benefit that I know of. No idea about the AXS

You can if you want. The bushing is greaseless and maintenance free as far as I know. Otherwise you would have to clean and re-grease it periodically

I don’t think so. It’s a pivot bushing so it should be fine as is . A thin layer sure wouldn’t hurt though

Using my Shimano XT for 3 years before and didn’t have to do anything! Just works like the first day.

No, the kit includes everything you need and does not use a wave washer. It is really the best way to go
The only B-bolt kit I can find in UK is the xo1 DH 10 spd.... has anyone successfully used this version to fix shifting issues with NX derailleur?

Only if it’s due to play in the mounting bolt
NX is possible, but this bolt doesn't fit on the SX. The washer in the middle of the bolt is about 3mm longer than the width of the body of the SX B bolt hole. I cut the washer 3mm and put it on the SX.

I purchased the x01 and tried this and think I got the wrong one. Maybe it is for an 11 speed or something. I have play front to back on it. It does not go away after mouting it. I have a thin gap. Any clue about this? Also, I cannot get it off now no matter what I do. It is stuck on after I pushed it on. Any help would be great. The one I got is the 11.7518.080.000
It’s a different part number from the one I used (I put the link in the description) but looks about the same. You should be able to carefully pry the cap back off with a small screwdriver to remove it
@@TonyHob It was tough trying to to get it off for sure. I ended up finding a little spanner wrench from some crappy kia piece of furniture and it worked. I will return that one and get the one from the link. Wish I saw that part of your description sooner lol. Time for attempt #2
Great video. I see in the comments that you added a bit of grease to the outside of the bushing even though not called out in the manual. Is there any reason why you didn't add a bit of grease inside the bushing as well?
Good point. I actually did add a light coating of grease to the bushing but did not include it in the video.

Just to share another findings: I have tried to use X01 DH 7-speed B-Bolt on GX Eagle and it doesn't fit. It has exactly same length, but bracket collar or bushing has to be different..
It's pretty hard to find these parts noways, everything is sold out...

Hi Tony! I bought a new bike in January with a GX derailleur and have been fighting it since day one. Mine has the wobble which causes it to shift like crap. I'm assuming the X01 bolt kit will work the same as the XX1 kit as both use bushings and look identical other than color of limit screws, do you know what the difference is, I'm guessing materials for weight is all. The XO1 is cheaper($24) is why I ask.

I put a very light coat on the outside of the bushing but edited it out because I don't know if it is even needed. The old bolt did not have any grease.

I did this and the derailleur is really hard to move. It doesn’t move smoothly from the pivot point of the mounting bolt. When I shift up it’s really hard to press the shifter. Why could this be?
I’m not sure. Maybe others will chime in with ideas. Does it move freely with the cable disconnected? Also make sure the backing plate is in the correct position

I changed it. The wheel cannot be removed. The screw is stuck the derailleur. (sram nx 11s)
I find it difficult to understand why any play should develop in this bolt, as there shouldn't be any movement here (other than when you adjust b-tension of course). As far as I can see, the only reason for the derailleur to rotate around this bolt would be if the spring in the clutch assembly isn't capable of holding the chain tight, and that the entire derailleur is free to rotate backwards before the chain slack is taken up by the spring. If so, I'd say that this is a design flaw that SRAM should correct asap.

From the way this one installed, the b-bolt plate should just pull right off. It’s just snapped in place

Hi, great advice. I installed that on my NX. Though I had one issue. At 06:35 you are installing the "hook" of the bbolt kit. At my kit that hook came in 2 parts: hook and the metallic-tooth-washer that was bit wider than the socket. On your movie the washer is already in place (socket). Did yours came in parts and if so, how did you manage to join them? Finally I have just mount the the derailleur bolt with the hanger and by this the washer was squeezed into socket...though not evenly :/ (sorry if my tech English is not clear)
My bracket, or "hook", is only one piece and it snaps onto the bolt. I don't think it makes any difference if is is 2 pieces. As long as the derailleur is working once mounted you should be good. The washer on my bolt was already in place too. Try using a small amount of grease on the rubber washer/seal so it seats better into it's socket when you mount it. It sounds like your kit is a little different than this one but should still work.

EDIT: I went with Eagle AXS cause it was available. Unfortunatly when I clicked bracket, there is little bit empty space. Looks like 11s tube in deralieur is a little bit narrower. I used extra spacer from old set on the last big o ring and it get better. I will check if it works with time...

Only if it is affecting shifting. My GX is working fine as is but it is only a couple of months old. Time will tell
