We have managed to catch the Riddler, but for some reason I get the feeling he wanted to be caught. Whatever his plan is, I cant let it come to fruition.
I like how the riddles were recontextualized not as a self-serving ego challenge, but as coded instructions directed to who he thought was his accomplice, based only on the assumption that smart people would automatically be his friends. The fact that his shattered mental bubble instantly recovers after learning that Batman didn't solve the last riddle perfectly encapuslates him. "Of course, that explains it, he's just another idiot, no wonder he's not on my side, phew I was gonna have a heart attack". It's sad the amount of people that actually operate this way.

Yes. And a lot of people debate whether Riddler knows Bruce Wayne is Batman and doesn’t care, or doesn’t know Bruce Wayne is Batman because Riddler would raise hell if he did.
His screaming is even scarier without any visuals, just sounds like an actual guy. Also he’s kinda accurate since psychopaths apparently don’t like being called psychopaths
You know him singing Ave Maria means that it’s mayor related, since the kids sang it in the funeral. Hinting at Bella Real being the last victim later in the film. Brilliant
Love when Batman's hammering the glass. The sound design is teeth-rattling. You can really feel the rage, which is especially potent when you realize Batman couldn't convince Riddler to elaborate and now he can't even beat it out of him.

I remember when I went to the theatre to watch this. You could literally hear a pin drop everyone was so silent and you couldn't take your eyes off Paul Dano. Amazing actor and performance

I love how Riddler gets so upset that Batman hasn't worked out his plan as if it's this complex scheme. I mean, all he did was round up his Incel squad, got them to get as many people in the same area as possible and shoot them...
It was a complex scheme tho. He knew he'd be caught and gave Batman the clue to find his endgame with his first murder weapon. He thought Batman had already seen his video explaining the bombs, and thought judging by Bruce's words they had already been disarmed. It's not until Nygma says they would've been safe and Batman asked what he means that Riddler knows he didn't figure it out. He thought Batman was approving of his work and was going to deliberately let the bombs go off
@@larry2281 Riddler lost one major thing, freedom. I have no doubts that his followers would have freed him from Arkham after the flood, and he probably believed that too, or at least hoped for it. Probably wanted to be held on their shoulders while they chant "Three cheers for Eddieeeee!" He weeps at the end because all the people that looked up to him have been defeated, his "friend" Batman has abandoned him, and he's alone in Arkham with no escape in sight. He's also lost his anonymity, something he hated having and doesn't miss, but it definitely served his plans. His realization that he's alone again, that he's trapped, and that the last piece of his jigsaw puzzle was missing broke him down. That's how Joker got to him. He offered him friendship and showed him that Batman was wrong, that he wouldn't die alone. Joker also motivated him to escape and try again, when he felt defeated and trapped. That's why that final Joker scene works. He comes across like a cult leader, speaking softly to Riddler and treating him like a friend he understands, but we the audience know that Joker already had background on Riddler thanks to the deleted scene and he's just seeing if he can manipulate Riddler for his own purposes.

He had one flaw in his plan. Other than that he elaborately timed every riddle and everything he did, with Batman’s Actions.
