Hi Jake, I tie a similar fly here in NZ, but use a bit of Glue to keep it nice and tight. The hooks I use are FM Barbless #14 and the wing case I cut from the courier’s black plastic envelope! Cheers mate, a great demo. Harera..
That’s an awesome looking fly. Sometimes I find that pheasant tail can have some durability issues. What do you think about using some Loon thin flow on the body?
Yes certainly! I do agree pheasant is some what tricky, it’s hard to beat it though. Wire wraps and Loon flow will definitely create a longer lasting fly!
Awesome fly tied some up really awesome looking

@@TheFlyFiend Thanks, so much. Really enjoying your channel.
Neat pattern
Would you euro nymph this beauty? Freestone? Tailwater?
I wouldn’t euro nymph it no, I tend to use flies that are more slim in profile while euro nymphing, but I would certainly nymph it under an indicator
Have you fished this fly on stillwater? Under an indicator or stripping?
Thanks, Jim
Hey Jim, I’m fishing this under an indicator in the rivers, haven’t fished it in stillwater, but I’m sure it would perform great!
Brilliant
Curved hook ?
