Yep! You got that right! This channel holds my personal record of sharing the content with other people. I also think Adam could be responsible for some of the extra streams artists gets after he profiles them. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone straight to Spotify after watching professor of rock presentation.
Adam, I haven't been a channel subscriber too long, so forgive me if this question comes off the wrong way, or you've covered it before. How is that the Professor of Rock's favorite band is the Smiths?
When you're compared to a "sore thumb in the best possible way," you know you've arrived! Was that a back-handed compliment or what? Hilarious! 😂 Love it!
Adam, everything he said about you is SPOT ON! He eloquently explained why you are the best at what you do, and why you are _loved_ by your fans. It's not just your astounding depth of knowledge about so many different genres and eras, it's also because of your genuine love for music and the various characters that create the music we love! Your talent for asking the right questions, and then giving upmost respect to your guests by allowing them to speak comfortably without interruptions or "corrections" (I hate when an interviewer tries to always "correct" people about their own stories, as if they didn't live it!🙄). I love that you share such heartwarming and sometimes bittersweet personal experiences, but you _never_ make the video about yourself. You share in ways that sparks our own memories, and this has been real therapy for me as I am getting my memory back after 10+ years of living with a type of amnesia. I have a brain condition that required surgery in 2010, and I don't remember much of anything between 2002-and 2014, when I was either over-medicated with anti-seizure meds, or recovering from brain surgery. The meds ruined my memory to the point I couldn't remember how to drive, and often forgot my son and my dog's names, or get them reversed. Lucky for my son, our dog's name was Ringo😉 so he couldn't get mad about that! I missed so much of my son's teenage years, when I was "there" physically but I remember so little about those years, and I wasn't myself when he needed me most. Your videos are helping my brain heal, as I am remembering events I thought were lost to time. Now when I look at an old family photos, I not only remember what was going on when the pic was taken, I remember what record was playing on Momma's Magnavox stereo! I would recommend your channel to music lovers who are having cognitive issues, as they certainly help me. Thank you, "Doc" Adam! 😉 You are a bright light who is very much appreciated and needed in this world.
This has to be one of the most entertaining interviews I have seen you do ! And thank you Jess for "breaking the fourth wall" and talking directly to us the fans/listeners/followers !! Rock on ! ☝🏻 😂😂😂
I've never heard of Jess Harnell before today but now he's on my radar. What a fantastic interview Professor! "When you find love, hold it tight and treat it good" Amen! The energy from the past must be palpable at Abbey Road Studios...SO AMAZING! ✌🤘
Stories like that involving a continuum from one artist to another are the best. The story of Lzzy Hale giving a guitar to Dany from The Warning is epic. Dany is going to be 25 tomorrow!
I was listening to this just now as I was driving. The story with Bill Shatner and “Gene Simmons”. I almost drove off the road. That was great, thank you for making my day.
Adam we all knew you were great at interviewing, but to be told so by someone you’re interviewing, AWESOME! Jess seems like such a great man. He’s so kind, and how much he loves his wife……❤
Got to meet him at New York Comic Con (along with Rob Paulsen and Tress MacNeill) and he was so super nice. He lit up when I mentioned Rock Sugar. You can tell he loves doing what he does and I love when you get to interview him. So fun!
My best friend's dad, when I was growing up was a full blooded Irishman direct off the boat. He watched the "who shot JR" episode and called his whole family in Ireland to give them the scoop right after the episode showed. He was a dear sweet family doctor.
DEAD ON SHATNER IMPRESSION! The stories he tells are a LOT of fun! The description of Abby Road, Thank you sir! More Jess Harnell interviews please!!!! I got to find the Abby Road vid but also the song with his to voice actor friends!
He’s right!! You stand out! Your commentary, knowledge & genuine love for music comes through in every video & certainly every interview. First time I came across this channel, I immediately shared it with others & was like wow, this guy is good, real good at what he does!! We so appreciate you!
I'm so happy Gene sings Beatles songs. He's one in a million literally. Living in a spaceship next to Kirk seems like there could be a once in a lifetime chance for the greatest road trip ever.
There's a band over in South Korea that's worked really hard at recreating the Beatles' sound and applying it to their own originals. It's just spooky, in the most awesome way. They go by the name of HOA(호아). Check out their video "Push Man," you'll see what I mean.
I totally agree with Jess’ opening remarks. A lot of content out there is contrived. The whole production seems off. But on POR, as a music and music history lover, I saw right away how this channel connects all of those things. The artists being interviewed get a gleam in their eye because Adam totally gets it. For some of us, music is a massive part of our lives. It’s guided us through all of our key moments and milestones. It becomes the soundtrack of our lives. Millions feel that way. I’m glad some of us found that community on this channel.
My son and I had the opportunity to chat with Jess at a Comic-Con in Sydney a few years back. We were early and it wasn’t busy so had a lot more time than would usually be allowed. He is a down to earth guy and comes across as being genuinely interested in those he’s talking to. We discussed musical tastes and he was impressed with my young son’s favourite groups. Later sat in on his talk and the guy is absolutely hilarious and a raconteur of the first order.
Dude! Such a cool detour from the norm on your channel. An amazing introduction to me on Jess. Did not realize all the work of his I know of without realizing who that person was. Now off to save up so I can record something there!
That was a”milk through the nose” interview listening to the Shatner imitations. Jeff lives every man’s dream with the Abbey Road studio story. Thanks Adam!
"The groovy thing, man …" 😂 I love him! What a fun guy. Thanks for this awesome interview, Adam. I remember those Shatner stories, and I still crack up when he tells them. 🤣🤣🤣
What a cool guy and interview! I agree with him for the most part about modern music not being very organic, but there is definitely amazing modern artists and bands out there. The #1 song right now is "Die With a Smile" by Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars and sounds like a 70s soft rock song. It was made entirely with live instruments, and had a lot of thought and care put into it. It's the #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 as of today, and it's proof that pop artists can make great music if they want too.
I have to say, at the end of the episode, I was disappointed that it wasn't longer. I would happily have listened to two hours of this one. Thanks for the introduction to a new (to me) artist. Also, this is the first time I''ve read your whole episode description. Is your Executive Producer involved with Skinwalker Ranch?!
The first time you had Jess on I had never heard of him. He instantly became my favorite interviewee. Still is. I listen to Rock Sugar all the time now. Of all the rock stars I would love to meet, he has got to be on the top of the list just because he would be so much fun to talk to.
I actually laughed out loud at the Shatner stories. I’m not talking about”LOL”. I mean I actually laughed out loud several times. Great vid. You speak to us like a person with a genuine passion. I’d bet that’s your key to success right there.
Wow his voice is fantastic and the voice sounds like s.p.on the first song played I'm glad his staying in tune and being true the music thank you and God bless you 🙏❤️
Jess, you are fantastic, and you made Wakko Warner one of my absolute favorite animated characters. I can't believe Rob Paulson and Jim Cummings joined, as well! I really dig all of you guys!
Jess is one of the most underrated singers in his generation. I grew up listening to 70’s and 80’s music and 40 this year. So many artists from this time period have slowed or stopped entirely. There won’t be another group of singers like this for years to come.
Great, great story time!! Awesome interview. All the artists you've had on are amazed, as we are, in you knowledge. Thank you for letting us see the history and story, on music! My fav has always been "Get Back." Probably because I was born "in Tucson, Arizona."
I believe Jess Harnell is one of the most interesting guests you’ve ever interviewed. Never heard of him til this interview and I had to listen to him right til the end.
I remember him from the 80s before they even became known. They was on an MTV headbanger's ball interview. They were sitting on the stairs, said voice's were his real thing and he gave examples. He sounds like anyone he wants. Incredible!🤘Awesome 😎ness!🤘
This dude has such a warm and awesomely cool personality (that’s not a contradiction!) - I mean I feel like we are good friends now, and I’ve never met the guy, but I can tell he’s a truly good dude who probably makes everyone feel like close friends!
I've been dying to meet Jess Harnell at a convention for years, still haven't yet. Rob Paulsen was the first voiceover actor I met at a convention, back in 2014.
Damn Professor, that was an incredible interview. I was sad that it was over so quickly. I could have been a fly on that wall for hours. So, cool...🤟🤟🤟
Crazy story, I the pleasure of meeting Jess about a decade ago. I coached high school football with Jess' cousin Todd in Florida. Todd was emphatic that I needed to go out to karaoke to meet his cousin. I was told about what a great guy he was on top of his being such an incredibly talented guy, singer, voice actor etc. So we meet up with Jess and the other family members. Needless to say it was an amazing time. Jess played it all very low key and had everyone eating out of his hands with his vocal prowess and as my luck would have it he and I shared the stage. Needless to say a great time was had. Big fan of Jess!
*ADAM!* I have been meaning to tell you sometimes, when I am just listening to a vid, you sound just like Casey Kasem! Then I have to stop what I'm doing and look at the vid to make sure it is still you. Keep up the amazing vids and keep on rockin'!!!
I discovered who Jess is from you, Professor. He's always a great interview with an infectious personality, and I'm looking forward to ordering this album!
This has to be my most favorite interview yet. And, I've never even heard of him. (Please don't hate me). I'm 43 but I absolutely love classic rock and old country and basically all old songs. ❤
I need to THANK YOU, Adam, for turning me onto Rock Sugar! Cuz I’m a LONG TIME FAN of Amimaniacs, I LOVE what this guy does with the songs and his song choices are SO GREAT!! I am a fan of Rock Sugar. So Thanks Adam…
I've seen Jess Harnell's name in the credits of many cartoons and video games especially as Ironhide and Barricade from Transformers and of course Animaniacs as Wakko and other voices. I really enjoyed his talking about William Shatner and I'm big fan of the original Star Trek this was a very special interview and I've always been a fan of voice actors since the days of Hanna-Barbera in the 70's and my favorite voice actors are Howard Morris, Allen Melvin, Daws Butler, John Stephenson and of course the legendary Mel Blanc thanks again Professor. 🎶🎶📻🎶🎶
I always loved his story about being at Disney (I think it was). My memory is a little hazy on the exact details, but it was something like he was wearing a Wacko Warner T-Shirt and some kid loved it so Jess started talking with him. I guess Jess said to the kid "I'll tell ya a little secret (looks around) I do the voice of Wacko Warner!" and the little kid (looking unphased) goes "Yeah, well so can I" .... I guess it was a humbling experience LMAO!!
About his comment on the professor of rock. The P.O.R. reminds me of Casey Kasem 100% When I first heard your show I thought you were coping him but then learned it was just how you were and that just made it better.
What a delightful and awesome guy Jess is. I'm gonna add meeting him to my bucket list. (though I don't meet famous people like I used to, it should still be possible) Thanks, Adam.
He is soooo cool. And he's right about playing instruments. Growing up when my daddy would leave for practice or a gig he would say “I'm going to make some music” I never knew the significance of that statement until I sang with a band. Canned music will NEVER reach the depth of your soul the way playing an instrument does. Thank you for your amazing videos. ❤❤
Jess is so good at the voices and doing those mashups. Love his stuff! Edit: he’s right about your channel and why we subscribe. You are the best sore thumb out there 😂
I had no idea Jess does any of this. He was always just a name in the voice credits for stuff. (I was a big Animaniacs fan back in the day. In my 30s. LOL) Exceptionally cool!
I love Jess. He is so awesome, both in his amazing songs, his character voices and great personality. I didn't know about the new album. Definitely getting a copy of that one. "Reinventinator" is one of my favorites.
If anyone has a chance to see a clip of Burton Cummings doing a singing impersonation of fellow Canadian Gordon Lightfoot, check it out. Well worth the look!
I've played music all my life.At 69 I'm finding it hard to meet fellow musicians to even do ocasional jams, nevermind form a band. The guys i came up with have either moved or passed on or no longer play. When I saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan, me and most everyone else bought instruments and formed bands.Growing up I played in every style band just about. There were scads of venues to play at.Now especially after covid not so much.Times sure have changed.
So, idea: Gene needs to take improv classes so he can guest star on Who's Line Is It, Anyway. Because that would be the most epic episode since Robin Williams was their guest.
POLL; What is your favorite BEATLES SONG? Or even your favorite Beatles Solo song?
Yesterday
Eleanor Rigby
A Day in the Life
Ringo, solo "It Don't Come Easy"
Helter Skelter
Rain
Blue Jay Way (hope it’s still there)
Don’t Pass Me Bay

are Howard Morris, Allen Melvin, Daws Butler, John Stephenson and of
course the legendary Mel Blanc thanks again Professor. 🎶🎶📻🎶🎶
Thanks Roger! Glad you enjoyed it my friend!
He’s done a lot more than I thought.
Ha ha!
I always thought Wakko was voiced by Ringo Starr!
Funny story. Go check out my previous interview with him. He was doing Ringo!
About his comment on the professor of rock. The P.O.R. reminds me of Casey Kasem 100% When I first heard your show I thought you were coping him but then learned it was just how you were and that just made it better.
He reminds me a bit of Rich Little... yes, I'm that old.
What a delightful and awesome guy Jess is. I'm gonna add meeting him to my bucket list. (though I don't meet famous people like I used to, it should still be possible) Thanks, Adam.
This was a really cool, really fun interview.
Thanks for watching!
Great story on the eve of the 56th anniversary of the rooftop concert ...
That's right! Great catch Don!
yes our local radio.has a beatles rooftop segment tm. forcthe 56th aniv.
Jess is so good at the voices and doing those mashups. Love his stuff!
Edit: he’s right about your channel and why we subscribe. You are the best sore thumb out there 😂
He's great! Thanks for watching!
@@ProfessorofRockthanks for the great content and memories!
Saw him perform at Animaniacs Live in 2019 with Rob Paulsen and the rest of the Animaniacs voice actors. That was lots of fun and full of nostalgia.
Love this! Great episode!
I had no idea Jess does any of this. He was always just a name in the voice credits for stuff. (I was a big Animaniacs fan back in the day. In my 30s. LOL)
Exceptionally cool!
Very cool!
Love you Jess Harnell!
I throughly enjoy ALL of Professors interviews with Jess
I love Jess. He is so awesome, both in his amazing songs, his character voices and great personality. I didn't know about the new album. Definitely getting a copy of that one. "Reinventinator" is one of my favorites.
Great stories & interview!
I love this guy! I dont think Ive ever heard of him but I love this interview - now I have to listn to his music
The Plastic Surgery Disasters and The The's Infected cassettes on the table comes out like a sore thumb, I can't unsee it hahaha....
This guy is truly AWESOME!!! How have I never heard of him?
I am embarrassed to say I had never heard of this gentleman until today. Excellent interview!
Thanks for watching!
If anyone has a chance to see a clip of Burton Cummings doing a singing impersonation of fellow Canadian Gordon Lightfoot, check it out. Well worth the look!
Will do!
Paul McCartney & the Wings - Mull Of Kintyre is my favorite song by one of the Beatles.
Excellent interview.
Still one of my favorite interviewees on your channel!
When he started doing his Beatles accent, I thought "there's Wakko Warner. Nice."
I remember listening to all those songs for hours when they came out. The Beatles were our favorite.
So, idea: Gene needs to take improv classes so he can guest star on Who's Line Is It, Anyway. Because that would be the most epic episode since Robin Williams was their guest.
