Heads up that for case landing you need to press on the yellow circle when it appears or sometimes the Skydio will just miss completely and hit the ground if you don’t click on it.
Just the keyframe feature is what sets this apart from the other camera drones. You can take all the time you need framing each keyframe, and let the AI do the flying for you afterwards.
Apart from the Keyframe feature and the extended range this drone isn't as big of an improvement over the Skydio 2 as I would've liked. I sincerely hope the Skydio 3 comes with overall better range, superior obstacle avoidance, and a nice controller to boot. Sure, it'll raise the price but I doubt it'll come close to being as expensive as a top of the line Mavic 3 Cine. Thanks for the review though and I've noticed you're using a different quote from the Bible this time.
From my understanding of the technology yes. Yes it could. However you would have to drive a little bit differently. You would have to drive less erratically than normal. That way the drone can keep up with the small object better since it uses the camera as it's primary source for tracking objects, the beacon is only a backup. The beacon however does improve overall accuracy, but if you are driving or racing a car around a track or even just generally in front of you, it will use the camera. If you're flying a RC plane it's a bit different, the plane won't be nearly as erratic as the RC car, and since you're flying in 3D space, the drone could track it much easier.
I love the mini 3 and the skydio 2+, but imagine if DJI and Skydio collaborated to make a drone using the superb design concepts and UI of DJI, and with the advanced AI of Skydio. I would love that.

Not a big fan of the rabbit ear antennas sticking up from a drone...it seems dji & autel can go further with invisible antennas. Has Skydio gave an explanation yet for using rabbit ears instead of internal antennas? Its a positive step in right direction. I would like to see a new and improved controller with a display for the basic functions. Another future would be the use of 360deg video and photo capability for the one time price of 360 deg camera $300-400 range. Also unlock the night time flying restriction.
I know the audio will come through your smartphone while connected to the drone, but if your phone is connected to headphones like AirPods will or can the sound come through the airpod mics? Just curious if this could be a good option while trail running or biking.

how does one use this for tracking when on a zipline? I tried using the Mavic 3 and it fails every time. I am guessing the beacon? Like with Mavic you have to select the object to track. Does this apply with the beacon also? Very curious to know before I make the switch.

The shots look so professional 🤣 it's a cool drone no doubt about it. But the price is a bit steep. (Shots were cool for b roll but didn't look all that professional to me) Also they charge like 500 none for just the remote you can buy a mini for 400 usd

Auto Tracking you while running would be perfect. Sorry I'm not sure about buying an older gen1 Skydio2. I did notice the 2+ is priced the same as previous model which is pretty cool.
Skydio is by far the best auto tracking drone. I use for ultra running but to be honest the weight of the drone, case, batteries, and beacon is a bit heavy. For this reason I purchased a DJI mini 2 as well.
@@IchimokuCloud The mini looks like a perfect running drone. I love my Air 2 because of the quality images I get. I also live in a heavily forested area which makes it tough on the tracking drones.
Looks good range is little disappointing but I bought it for close up stuff anyway. I had a Skydio 2 they swapped it out for a 2+ but they are pretty slow at shipping these things out.

I own the Skydio 2 and cannot justify selling it off and getting the Plus. Other than extended range which would rarely use, the tracking is what I bought the Skydio 2 for and I don't see any improvements based on the video. It still has its limits but is better than others out there. When Skydio creates a drone that can truly avoid even the smallest branches is when I will upgrade. I use it for ATV trail riding mostly and it's had its moments of getting lost/stuck in some trees.
The Range on the Skydio is laughable. I think Skydio wants to offer one drone that does everything, unlike DJI who has numerous drone types such as the Mavic, air, mini, and so forth. The only problem with Skydios plan is that most people are not going to jump into the drone market paying thousands. DJI understood this, thus, the mini(399), spark(499)Air(699), Air 2(899), Mavic(1299), and so forth.
I had high hopes for this video. The thumbnail is a little sus, but I'm not one to pick nits..! I'm like ok, I want a man's honest opinion and review of this drone prior to whipping out the ol' black card and purchasing a dozen... you know, incidental expenditures, right? Until you seemingly mispronounced "antenna". I gave the benefit of the doubt and put that to the side. Then, like an ice pick to the ear hole, you did it again..! How can I be expected to lend credibility to a man who, judging by your crow's feet and jowls, I'll be generous and guess 43 or 44 years of age has not learned that it's "aNtenna"..? Not "atenna"... You really let me down, Mister... Micro-aggressions such as this are not ok, sir, and being a senior citizen is no excuse! Good day!
I'm selling my skydio now. No trade in for existing customers is so rude. this drone isn't very reliable to begin with as skydio lied about every stat of the drone. Range is terrible amd connectivity is a joke
@@beanodean4148 s2. Flew mine twice today and it disconnected and wouldn't reconnect so I had to chase it down 1/8 of a mile on my eboard and wait until the battery drained 🙃. Next flight it lost connection to the beacon and flew away again and I chased it approx 1/8 of a mile where it thankfully reconnected . Love the tech behind this drone but all s2 customers got screwed and s2+ customers got the complete version . None of these paid youtubers will tell you the truth about this drone so maybe I will make a video

As usual one of the best reviews on here. Can I maybe ask for a favor, idea for the next video? One thing Skydio failed to ever listen to from customers is the w in transitions. When you would change orientation while flying it would make abrupt movements vs being smooth movements. I was hoping to see this corrected while watching your videos but you sped them all up lol. Would you do a video on production firmware and if you own the 2 abs the 2 plus - show the difference? Maybe also bring it up w skydio? 😂 One thing that kept me from getting one is that. I posted on their site, posted all over just trying to get a response and ever received one. Thanks again!
King of restrictions lol ;) I can't tell you how many times I went to a park to fly (outside of NFZ), but couldn't take off due to "updates needed" 🤦♂️
Skydio 2 camera sucks no log, all the videos look the same, and I can tell it out of any drone. even the hubsans zino pro camera looks better. lol even the fimi. 2021 or 2022, camera is better.

And soon enough we will all need to install gps trackers in each aircraft. That is, if the FAA prevails in the ongoing lawsuit brought by RDQ last year.
@@A_Son_Of_Yahuah FAA regulations state that if your drone weighs more than .55 pounds, you MUST register your drone. The specs say this drone (Skydio 2+) weighs 800 grams which is 1.76lbs. DJI makes mini drones that weigh less than .55 but the Skydio is the best tracker by far.
The beacon loses a lot of performance when putting in a pocket. Best to keep it exposed.

If I protected the tracker with some high-level shock absorption/protection and we’re to put this in my high end RC basher. Would it Track it?
Maybe but it would have a lot of trouble because it mainly uses imaging to track.
I was having same idea, tracking a RC boat/heli or airplace could be pretty nice too

Signal is weak after 500f? They advertised it goes 6km...( which is 3.7 miles) something doesn't add up with this drone

Use an android so you can monitor other WiFi squashing signals also you might see the Skydio switching frequencies to circumvent the WiFi squash.
