Red Alert 2: Yuris' Revenge - Comparing Anti-Air Units
Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 жов 2024
- In this video I tried to test all the units that can hit Air units. The results were quite interesting. Unfortunately I could not test the Anti-Air constructions since you can not force attack with them.
Keep in mind that the game speed in game changes depending the situation. Most of the results were tested at a speed of 5. However, a few were tested at a higher speed.
The winner by a long shot is the allied cruiser which an elite one is by far enough to bring any threat down. Apocalypse, surprisingly counters air units decently while the siege chopper along with Nighthawk transportation are the worst possible counters.

What I find most interesting about this; is how Flak based units actually seem to get weaker as their veterancy increases. This is how it looks on quick viewing.
However, what is actually happening, is all Flak units, upon reaching Elite status, they ditch having a Single shot Flak hit, and replace it with a tri-shot. Now, this DOES have upsides, and downsides. For starters, all Flak shots have splash damage, so while their single shot damage is lower then the IFV or Gatling Tank; against say... a Squad of Rocketeers, they can actually decimate the whole pack.
However, the Tri-Shot lowers the actual damage, in exchange for 3 more shots with wider range. This means, a Veteran (one promotion) is better for Single Target Aircraft elimination; while an Elite (Max promotion) is better suited for squads of aerial enemies. Also, Elite Flaks shoot hella fast on the ground, and can often bury Infantry in a sea of flak.
So, in short form: Against 1 Target, Flak falls way behind the others. When against large groups of Aircraft or Rocketeers, Flaks perform better due to Splash, but still struggle to effectively kill things.
Man those elite agies cruisers, what a sight!
when they're getting attack, they go haywire and shoot even faster too
Op as fuck!
that sound it makes when releasing the missile is like from hell too :)
farefouse olly it is actually not overpowered because it is a defensive weapon and it can only attack air units, also allies don't otherwise have any good anti air weapon at all....
It's the ultimate anti-kirov
You can't beat a Kirov Army.

IS THAT A JOJO REFERENCE?!?! XD
Jojo Reference is always welcome
These "references" haven't aged well. The entire internet is so tired of Japanese fans like this guy...
Nothing special to see here just a Jojo enjoyer.
I can imagine everyone screaming and running and they see a Kirov reporting on the horizon while Aegis Cruiser laughs like a maniac.
just hearing a vibe of a Chrimson 1 coming off the aegis cruiser flooding the screen with missiles that dont miss at all really puts the Kirovs to fear the aegis.
to be fair, flak was designed specifically for allied air units. Since Allied air units often come in swarms having AOE is allot better than high dps single target. Also the reason why Allied has better single target dps thanks to the Soviets not really having allot of smaller air units more like big units such as the kirov and just some missiles.
Also the Aegis is regarded as the best anti-air there is even in one of the missions lol.
That Elite IFV OP asf lol... It hits harder than an elite grizzly tank.
Atleast its still fragile as all fuck though. thats probably the one thing that keeps it from being game breaking. I find the only good infantry to stick in a heroic level IFV are snipers or virus
@@mwperk02
Tesla Troopers are pretty fun to stick in them, too. A Tesla IFV out-ranges and out-runs most things in the game, meaning you can kite enemies, destroy them, get a bunch of elite Tesla IFVs in a hurry, then wipe the entire map of enemy presence. Works best in campaign, ofc. There are better ways to win in multiplayer.
This is why I find this comparison video flawed.

Also the Aegis Cruiser must be selected and target the enemy for that best damage.
When they are just auto attacking, they don't send as much missiles.

I used to mod this game, still remember the Missile from Aegis is called Medusa, and Patriot missile is called Redeye, and Mammoth tanks ‘missile is Mammoth Tusks. And the Elite Aegis’ rate of fire needs to be triggered by multi click; auto attack will be slow. Great fun.
Also, troops veterancy matters in the battle fortress, try a elite guardian gi, the rate of fire is so high
Wasn't sure about that. Thank you.

One thing I would like to see added to this is a Veteran Scorpion or Elite Scorpion against a Kirov Armada compared to an Elite Aegis. I'm sure the Aegis will win, but one thing to consider is that the Flak weapons do splash damage.
yes but still they lack the damage the aegis would've long been finished with the Kirovs even with the scorpion's AOE
You need to consider cost.
yes, even if you get more scorpions for 1 aegis the aegis will still out do said amount of scorpions

6:35, Guardian GI'S should be level three. A level three battle fortress alone won't strengthen the firepower of any infantry inside of it.
dat flak tropper tho
legend says he still trying to solo the kirov
What's even more threatening about the elite Aegis is that it has automatic multi-targeting. If you don't micromanage it, it will engage several targets at once, making it the ultimate anti-air unit in the game.
In my opinion flak is best though, because they do splash damage, and that's the best possible option for swarms of aircraft.
I believe flak is AOE right?
yeah only reason why it sucks single target
@@ikigai2738 stack flaks and imba vs mass kirovs
@Rick O'Shay only if they are very close, otherwise flak do better on splash damage, so summary overall, flak do better job against fast but low armor air unit such air plane, missile do better job on single but heavy unit such kirov
@Rick O'Shay oh right, Im tested flak do better than missiles against barrage of multiple dreadnougt bombing
except aegis though, aegis is cheat unit against air, seriously
I love how the Elite Aegis has a little victory missile shot before targeting the next victim like "Yeah, can't touch me."
From a strictly anti-air perspective, the order from best to worst is as follows.
1. Flak Track/Gattling Tank. Flak for the range and splash, gattling against single targets.
3. IFV*. Only selling point is their speed. Lower damage and worse projectiles than the other 2.
1. Flak Cannon.
2. Gattling Cannon.
3. PATRIOT missile system.
Flak Troopers are not really used in multiplayer.
*When elite its the best anti-air vehicle. Sure its only raw damage, but its enough raw damage to offset missiles' shortcomings compared to flak and gattling.
Gatling is horrible against fast moving targets because they never have rev up
ifv is super good glass cannon against infantry, tanks, buildings and air when upgraded at level 3. High speed, low tech req, low cost, the downside is the super low hitpoints.
@@matsv201 IFV is worse ngl. Their missiles often miss fast moving targets.
@@llVIU Puting a sniper or a virus in them basically make them into infantry massacre marchines. Of cause, yes, its expensive, but at that point, the enemy can just stop using inf, no point
hey tg I tested with Anti-air and confirmed that If you bring a box that has Firepower in it, use it with the Anti-air unit. It will be more powerful than I thought. Estimated that, Guardian GI uses Rocket Launcher like IFV, highest rank, Flak Trooper. In the low shot until all can be diagonally fired, IFV will increase the strength of the shot until Kirov Airship barely reaches for IFV. Flak truck is the same as Flak Trooper, the Gatling Tank may use drill type Armor to break, which even Tanya and Boris barely get rid of So soon, Floating Disc is hard to get Firepower, but if you get it Can be matched with the Floating Disc with the highest rank of 1 to 1, Sea Scorpion is hard to get Firepower but may be equivalent to Flak truck and Flak Trooper, and the last unit Aegis Cruiser is hard to get Firepower if possible. Accepting it, it is more powerful than IFV, attaching the highest rank to 5-10 times (if there is only one ship). If so, continue to Kirov Airship for 10-20 characters. It is hard to escape.
Elite IFVs are powerful as fk...
They are outright broken. I sometime run mass IFVs for fun, and when I got 2 upgrade crates early game, everyone would just rage quit
It is nightmare fuel man.
That's why I run GB every AI game.
Spy ready... the IFV is too.
yup, always tried to get several elite IFVs to take down those pesky airships.. nice to see why presented so "scientifically" :D
Flak is actually the best because anti air units usually tend to focus one target and it make allied anti air unit very inefficient in most case. Just imagine that you have to shoot down a lot of missiles from dreadnought that the soviet use and you will see why it is a big problem.
vs dreadnought I just use 1 heroic Aegis to counter it =w= (Auto target of heroic Aegis is so powerful for multiple target with low hp)
@@mayshiratoshi6390 note at 7:55, when missiles are fired, they had a target, if the target dies, those missiles didnt track other targets but they disappear. Aegis had to fire another magazine for another target.
While Soviet flak, weapon fire is that the same frame as bullet hit the target. And 1 bullet per magazine mean it changes target continuity. This is why Soviet flak never waste a single bullet.
@@C3WhiteRose Heroic Aegis can fire multiple target at once if you don't command it to shoot any single target (It fire only 1 missile per target that enough to destroy dreadnought missile) But if you command it to shoot anything they will salvo all missile at that target.
You know Aegis have 2 firing mode right?
1.Is not targeting mode it fire all target at in rang 1 missile per target while don't have any target command from player
2.Is track down mode (in that 7:55 clip aegis use this mode) full salvo on single player command target
Holy crap, that max rank IFV!
Okay screw that, the max rank Aegis! 🤯

Yep, video thumbnail op XD
I'd like to see elite GGIs inside a battle fortess compared to normal GGIs inside a battle fortess vs a kirov.
Maybe compare that vs the elite aegis.
Impossible for GIs to shoot flying target unless they're on the edge of a high enough cliff next to the kirov so they are at equal height, IF the game allows that to be possible.
I came here for what the thumbnail showed. And the clip of it did not disappoint.
6:10 tank rolling past: "DAFUQ DEY DOING OVER DER"

Elite allied units are just something else man, such potential.
Aegis missiles are just like a hand grabbing and slamming those Kirovs down to Earth.
5 Elite Guadian GIs in Battle Fortress is a monster.
Yep, and add it with Elite IFVs is a deadly combination. Say goodbye to those goddamn Kirov Airships right now 😂
This is what I always noticed about Allied defense, the more stars or higher their ranks are, the faster and stronger their attacks are. Oftenly, they're more of on the defensive but when they're strong enough, they outmatch the other two factions
Against a fleet of kirovs, I picture the elite aegis captain laughing like jameson in spiderman 2
Gatling cannon is always the best, also in CnC generals (for vehicle the upgraded quad cannon is the best)
Not really related, but I noticed that when the Aegis auto attacks, they attack A LOT slower than when commanded. Try it out. Don't know if that was a bug or not. But that's what I remember.
It's kind of a feature; Aegis' will try to evenly distribute their fire among multiple targets instead of just auto-acquiring one and focusing on that one. I know that behavior causes the slowdown, I don't know *why* it causes the slowdown.
I kind of want to see Sea Scorpion vs Aegis Cruiser when the enemy is a flock of Rocketeers.
Imagine if back then Westwood decided that Aegis Cruisers can target surface targets too.
Also, it's a shame you didn't include an elite Aegis cruiser with the firepower upgrade crate just for shits and giggles. That is the most ridiculous thing you can get in the game, I think it takes less than a second from the first missile impact to bring down a Kirov!
* If you let the Aegis cruisers defend by themselves, the rate of fire is incredibly slower, thus, you should manually attack using an Aegis, except against Rocketeers.
* Once the Aegis fully engages its target, you can start maneuvering the ship away or closer to the targets. It's barrage doesn't stop until the target is out of range.
* 1 Kirov kill for an Aegis is 1 rank. So by simply killing 3, you can get it to 3 ranks easily. A rank 3 Aegis can down any size of Kirov fleet in a matter of seconds.
* Only a rank 3 Aegis can defend itself against a Dreadnought, without having to engage on manual or taking damage.
* incredibly unlikely, but a Magnet Tank + a Rank 3 Aegis can destroy priority targets easily.
Flak anti-air attacks sound like fireworks
no star Aegis cruiser can dish out 2-3 kirov on attack mode. But i hope cnc made a cruiser bombardment ship and aegis cruiser 2 in 1. How insane is that.
6:15 rhino tank will be saying wtf they are fighting with each other
U have to put ranked soldiers inside fortress to make more damage.
An max ranked IFV horde can destroy almost everything in a few seconds including an kirov armada
Aegis just spits missiles out like it's no tomorrow and just says "Blimps?, what blimps?, all I see are smoldering clouds barreling towards the ground."
The instrument of doom. Aegis and B. Fortress laugh in silence 😂
Could have told you how that comparison between the Nighthawk Transport and Siege Chopper was going to go- they have the exact same weapon on them.
6:58 KHAAAAN~~~~!!!!

Was not expecting that from the elite IFV....
WTF? How can a veteran Sea Scrorpion bring down a Kirov faster than an elite one?!?
Every burst firing unit has a stop fire bug, as in you can fire instantly right after you cancel attack mid burst. I remember using that in to promote ifvs faster.
Please do a video about Level 3 Giant Squid, Terror Drone, Attack Dog and Crazy Ivan.
I'll try to cover every possible unit.
Those units can't gain experience though. and if it does anything on terror drones or dogs it would just give them more armor and hitpoints. Ivan or squids might be more interesting though.
Yuri (deploy skill) and slaves (from slave miners) get to elite level?
Terror Drones, Attack Dogs and Crazy Ivans cannot gain veterancy. The first three straight-up gain none, while Crazy Ivan's weapon is quirky and doesn't feed experience to them.
It has been 8-7 years and in 2018, I just learned that Rocketeers were also anti-air infantries...

those enemy yellow Apocalypses passing by: yo, that Aegis is mad
I was always scared of Kirovs when I played against multiple BRUTAL soviets but when I found what AEGIS can do then the fear was gone :)
Another good test would be a cluster of kirovs and pairs of each thing. The flaks really start to shine with their splash damage.
The thing about flaks is they are AOE, so if u have a cluster of units ontop of each other, they will do the same damage to all of them in range. that makes them pretty good. they are just niche.
5:14 thanx for saving my thousand years :d
Flak track can useful when they attack an multiple targets
6:15 Veteran Scorpion beats elite Scorpion
lol wut
Some guys told me why and I guess it needs a new video.
i'm kinda curious as to what would cause that. A video on that would be great
No it's actual the position. The closer the Flak is the greater the damage and after testing it it deals MUCH more damage when it's below the target.
DISTANCE
If iI remember correctly, veteran uses the same weapon data as non veteran one, only with veteran boost to damage, rof etc. Elite uses a different weapon with less damage, but even more rof from burst fire. Also elite has less range.
Few Thousand Years Later
LOL
The skies is clear with the aegis, damn!

The Aegis would be the best deal if it could attack ground targets
The Aegis always seemed to be useless to me as a kid. Now I venerate its power.
Testing anti-air.
Migs, Jets, Helicopters:😂
Kirovs:😢
Those Agies cruisers only perform one task. They better be good.
where is cosmonaut
Soviet flack guns are meant to have an area of effect to deal with allied plane swarms.
With choppers Kirov for sure died from laughing, it tickle 🤣
you forget one thing. flak trucks are very effective again group of air units..it can shot group of air units just with one shoot
Also, take into account Flak Troopers on elite have a "bug". their elite weapon actually deals less damage than their normal weapon even though it fires x2 faster (2x8 instead of 1x20)
PS: Seemingly this also applies to elite scorpion
In summary, allied andi-air is great at taking out single powerful units like the Kirov. What this video doesn't show is how effective these Anti-air units are against hordes of units like Harriers and/or rocketeers. The flak tracks, flak troopers, and Sea scorpion would wreck a swarm of rocketeers.
What's best depends on the situation, theoretically speaking flak has the highest possible damage output due to it doing AOE damage.
Excelent video, please do a comparison of the strength of garrisonable structures
pablo garza there’s a small part in the video “comparing basic infantry” but it sounds like a good idea
I know, I have seen all your videos, great material btw, but that small part left me thinking about the strength of those buildings, and which ones we should take prior to others, and I am sure that you can make that analysis, more in depth than the logic of " bigger building, stronger building"
pablo garza it’s a good idea so I will put it in my to do list
Few thousand years later!
I modded the game to let Ageis target ground too... I might have just created the most OP thing in history.
"Why everybody seems to dread Kirov"
And i show him this
Agies cruisers are masters of anti air. Flack canons are designed to go against large weak groups like rocketeers and the allied planes
I think Flak is good against large numbers of weak air units because it's AOE
Ex. Harriers , Rocketeers , V3 / Dreadnought 's missiles , Hornets , Paratroopers
Flak can take them down easily
but for Kirovs Aegis = Best for counter Kirov , if non-naval war = Elite IFVs
