Tesla troopers are quite strong but underused units. They are available to all the soviet factions for a price of 500 resources.
Tesla Troopers are basically tough infantry units which can withstand a lot of damage. The are useful against everything being able to kill enemy units in a few hits, deal a reasonable amount of damage to structures and decent damage against vehicles.
However, they are quite slow, have a very short range and a slow rate of fire thus being easily overwhelmed even by lower tier infantry. For this reason, Tesla Troopers are best to be used against vehicles. Cannon vehicles are poor against infantry especially against units like Tesla Troopers who have greater armor and can not be crushed as well.
Their elite status is a massive upgrade since their attack speed and range are drastically improved. Also, their attack bounces to nearby units making them a real threat in the battlefield against every unit.
Lastly, Tesla Troopers can also charge up Tesla coils for better damage and greater range. Two can keep it powered in case of low power while three will provide the maximum power even when the power is turned down.

IMO tesla troopers are a really interesting unit, but their disadvantage is their low range AND slow speed. So against most-used units, such as moving grizzlys/rhinos they can't really win. If i were to rebalance tesla troopers, i'd make a really heavy and slow infantry unit with additional features:
1) make immune to radiation and dogs aswell as immune against electrical attacks (tesla coil, tesla trooper, tesla tank, lightning storm), their metal suits protects them against these all
2) slower movement speed
3) make their attack deal chain lighting splash damage at all ranks
4) same hp but better armor class
5) similar to Tesla Coils you should be able to put them next to Flak Cannons and superweapons to prevent them from shutting down due to lack of power.
I agree with all of that except making them immune to radiation. It dosen't really make sense that an electric proof suit is immune to radiation, plus I think that would make them a little too OP.

I could say that TD needs a huge buff too, not absolute but I mean it should do damage to buildings like half or third a normal tank would, could make it not able to run over infantry but moves a little faster, a little more expensive but decently tankier, unable to turn the gunner because that would make it slightly too strong with more speed (consider luck crate could make it op)
And etc
The point is you can add many features make the thing more usable but still balanced. I gave a slightly advanced example but it does the job.

Its not the strongest unit although they dont fare well against Deployed G.I, Seals and Desolators still its counted as the strongest infantry. Yuri Prime, Boris and Tanya dont count as they're commandos

I forgot how good an all-rounder the Tesla Trooper was. Just disadvantaged by their short range and hence weakness to specialised anti-infantry units.

0:40 I can't believe that a deployed GI could defeat a Tesla trooper close range lmao, played this game for years and i've just noticed that.
They were nerfed in YR. In the original RA2, a single Tesla Trooper was extremely tough that it takes a group of deployed GIs to take one out.
@@o-geeogerio3182 I think thats not true, I vaguely remembering deployed GI's shredding literally anything, including Tesla Troopers, I feel like even 2 Deployed GI's would kill a Tesla before YR. Then GI's got nerfed in YR

In Red Resurrection Mod, Tesla Elites have chain lightning attacks without promoting to veteran or elite and immune to attack dogs, available for Yugoslavia Soviet Subfaction.
In Mental Omega, Tesla Troopers are slower but powerful in numbers but immune to attack dogs unlike the Original RA2.
How can a dog bite a Tesla Trooper anyway? :D
@@TheValentineEnemy Maybe his non armored legs, until the lore changed which is immune to doggy attacks in Mental Omega and Red Resurrection mods, btw both mods are good. Take note Mental Omega and Red Resurrection Skirmishes in Hard Difficulty is more nerve racking than Irisu's Instant Death + No Badges. More Intelligent AI than RA2 YR with or with brutal boost.

In RA3 Tesla Troopers were immune to dogs I think...yeah I know not the best game to bring up but ehh....it is still a decent one.
I'm more into Tiberium universe though. There is a cool fangame called "Twisted Insurrection". ^^
I edited in RulesMD so that Tesla Trooper can garrison the building.

Seeing the tesla trooper icon gave me chills. As a kid tesla trooper was a mysterious figure to me. I stared at his picture trying to figure out where he was and when. Being a kid was awesome.

I always liked how the tesila troopers looked here and that they used an electric gauntlet instead how they look in red alert 3 where they are wearing large suits but I guess it made it clearer they can not be killed by the scout units
Turns out the elite Tesla Trooper's chain lightning doesn't actually chain that often :(
It doesnt chain too often to friendly or own units. But if its opponent it will chain always. Same goes to prism tanks

Good test, the only problem some weapons like tesla or prism have splash damage to enemy units only(your test are with friendly units, even you force atack, they only damage one unit), maybe the result change litle with splash damage but anyway good video and testing
A small group of promoted tesla troopers is truly deadly for the basic units..

The Tesla Trooper's biggest weakness is his short range. Getting the to elite though...sheesh now that's crazy fun haha.

Nah... Tank destroyer in game had it 's attack reduce to minimum when attacking non tank unit. Basically it is useless against building and infantry. That why the laughing sound in the video.

The way I see it,, you could combo Tesla Troopers and Flak Troopers for an effective infantry assault. Flak to deal with air and help with infantry, and tesla to deal with armor

They are slow and they have a short range and is countered by any anti-infantry.

The only good thing for them is to counter mass tanks as they can't be ran over and is cost-effective.
