I know someone who works at Disney, he said the mother usually dies because in storytelling and movies, mothers usually represent comfort and safety, so taking the mother out of the equation represents a loss of security
What does the dad dying represent?
@@ThisUserIsNoLongerAvailable Dad's are usually stability. Traditionally they would bring in income and are a role-model for their kids. So losing a father is losing stability and someone you look up to, which often leaves an emptiness. Some MC wants to prove themselves bc of it.
It's a tradition that started because diseny blames himself for his mother dieing
There's also a story (I'm not 100% if it's true but) apparently during the creation of Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs, Walter Disney bought his mom a house like he promised her and there was a gas leak and unfortunately she passed. And because of that Walt scrapped the idea of giving Snow a mother before a stepmother and just killed her off from the get-go in order to make her relatable (to him and to other orphans) and a little bit out if spite and guilt since in his eyes the money he got from the production company caused him to buy that house and therefore "caused" his mom's death. Then that "trend" caught on and therefore original commentor is right because that's what that theme eventually symbolized.
I heard another analysis of that saying that "killing their parents" work as a way of forcing those characters to grow up faster out of necessity because you know movies last in average 90 minutes só they speed things up as they can, but by this point it became a cliché
I like how Rebecca correctly identifies Andy Samberg but forgets Jonathan's name in the same sentence. An equivalent exchange.

this is such a fun Halloween film. The rest of the franchise is actually pretty good in my opinion. Even though they swapped Adam Sandler’s voice in the fourth one I still really enjoy it
They only swapped it because Adam didn’t want to do the movie which imo was a good idea because compared to the previous movies, it wasn’t that good.

As a dad of a little girl I understand Dracula wanting to keep Mavis safe after what happened to his wife and that made him just shut the world out instead of working it out.
Honestly, I don't understand why Animatt/Matt Brunet (who's a popular animated reviewer on UA-cam) hates these movies, for me, they're pretty good! Hotel Transylvania is a fun Adam Sandler film and one of his better ones. It has great animation, good humor, likable characters, and a nice amount of heart, even if the story is a typical liar reveal plot.

I love the cartoony animation in this franchise. The story is so wholesome too. And monsters and vamps? Yes. Love it.

Didn't know it was the cake that caused it but yeah there was a pro choice message in some icing on a cake she did a photo op with and people freaked. At least that's what I remember.

The first movie is actually really good, the second is also pretty decent but starting with the third one these are absolute nightmares.
I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but the fly-people are a reference to a 1980s movie called "The Fly". It's actually a pretty gruesome monster movie, at least the ending is pretty gruesome... Also, the smell thing is about humans smelling bad to monsters, not that Jonathan stinks in particular.
I don’t think Jonathan literally stinks, 8 think the monsters just don’t like the smell of humans or their cleaning products…

There's actually 4 btw, a lot of people didn't like the fourth one at all, but I thought it was decent
The movies' jokes get quite a bit sillier with each sequel while the deep themes are only really noticeable in the first two movies, which is probably why a lot of people like the later sequels less and less, but they're still a fun watch in my opinion
As a fellow sister who critiques movies, I sense a kindred spirit in you, hun. I enjoyed watching your reaction of this movie and I agreed with a lot of things that you said in your reaction. This is my first time watching one of your videos, but I have already subscribed to you and rang the bell. Its nice seeing another woman who reacts to movies, like myself. You have a good voice to do reactions. You are funny and your voice is nice to listen to. If you take movie suggestions for your reactions, I would suggest The Land Before Time.

Been a while since I've caught a video right as it dropped, one of my fav franchise, 3 and 4 is pretty meh but I do find 1 and 2 especially 1 to be really enjoyable.

To my knowledge the name Quasimodo actually translates to hunchback, I think in most folklore it’s a negative name for most hunchbacks. :/
It means "partially made" or "imperfectly made". Pretty negative alright.

I mean that's not a pixar movie, they can't use their characters, but yes, for some reason, Quasimodo is the hunchback of notre dame. It's a rly bad adaptation if they put him there cause he's considered a ficcional monster like the others, but it CAN make sense if he's there because of all the shit he went through. Like yk, he was judged his whole life and instead of being accepted eventually he became this angry gremilin that hates humans (although he's a human, but i guess he's not considered one). It might be the same logic for the phantom of the opera that appears in the second movie.

This is a pretty good franchise when I first heard of it I thought it was for babies 😂and then I actually watched and realized I’m a baby too (teen) so I can also enjoy them who says I can’t ❤
This is the peak of the franchise. HT 2 is decent, but it goes downhill from there. This movie is much better than it has any right to be. I’ve laughed so much just from the expertly animated cartoony reactions and jokes, and the movie still has time for some more somber moments.
This is my fave animated series. Watched all three in theaters oop

I think the flies are a reference to The Fly from the 80's
The Fly was originally from the 50’s, and considering the other monsters are based on their 30’s movie versions, that it’s the same for the fly. It also looks more like the one from the 50’s movie than the 80’s one.

These movies are good, 1 and 2 are the best, I dislike 3 because it breaks it's own rule(s) which I detest in any media, and 4 is alright.
What I love about four is that Adam Sandler couldn't return as Dracula, so they hired the UA-camr Brian Hull to voice him, and Brian does such a great job.
(Note: I'm not happy that Adam couldn't return, he's great; what I'm happy about is Brian getting cast instead of some other big-wig actor.)
