I haven’t even graduated yet and I will have $60000. Someone who was born poor like me should never go to university. It’s cruel how poor kids are lied to and told they can live out their dreams. The government just wanted to trap me into debt.
Sorry, I understand this so much. You can do this. Look at ways you can pay it little by little and either start looking for jobs that will pay you a living wage or minimum wage jobs to start getting some cash flow in the meantime. Your life is starting now. Take on the challenge and you’ll come out on top. Make sure you take care of yourself first eat and sleep as best as you can and take it easy.
As long as you're going in for a useful major you'll be fine. I'm going into engineering and going about $30,000 in debt but the starting salary is $65,000-$75,000. Plus I invest 50% of my money so it should be paid off in like 5 years lol. As long as you're smart about it, you'll be fine.
I ended up withdrawal from my program due to personal reasons and other factors, however, i managed to pay off my student loans with the funding OSAP given me back in May ish of 2020. Until recently, I realized my grants were converted to loans in November of 2020. And now I owe money which they didn't inform me until this month.
I graduated in 2017, and my tuition and cost of living while studying cost me $92,000. I hustled hard during those 5 years and managed to walk away from my graduation with $0 in debt 📈
Graduated in June 2019 with 37k in student debt. No jobs in my stem field and I now work in a warehouse just to keep up with my osap payments. I wish I informed more about this loan before I took it!
Watched Borrowed Future and was wondering what Canadian loans are like. I am so glad I am not in debt. My parents made us work our way through and wow what a benefit. Gave us fiscal awareness and responsibility.
Just curious, why did you not take student loans from the government? The interest rate is so high through the banks. I have about 40k student loans after graduating nursing school, i paid it off in a year. But I was also staying with my parents during that time. About the scholarships you are very right, I never really paid attention to it while in school.
Hey Trey, thanks for watching! It depends per institution and province. We'd recommend talking to the financial aid department at your school for guidance. Thanks!
why didnt you finish your bachelor nursing degree ?? you could work now as a nurse they make good money espeially in vancouver. 37 thousand debt is not much babe !!!!
Personally I think domestic Canadian students don't actually own much student debt as international students (unless their parents can't pay for tuition and you have to pay everything on your own)... they will be paying significantly more tuition than domestic students, and also there are only a very limited option for them to fund their further education. I've contacted GrantMe about this issue but apparently no international programs exist.😢 I've been searching for a genuine scholarship organization which really helps international students (not like those which pay $2000 or less, that would not even be 5% of total tuition I need to pay as an international student) but nothing came helpful to me. Do you have any other options for international students to help pay for their valuable education (I could apply for entrance scholarships but those are extremely hard to get, and please take in mind that I would be paying $60,000+ per year for UofT, that's over $240,000 at the time of graduation😢)
hi, as an international student i have a lot of problems like you. i'm wondering if you found a reall help? and if yes can you share it with me?cause i really need it
@Make or Break TV maybe but it highly depends now.. this sort of value in attaining a degree ain't the same as it was 20-40 years ago. Higher education has now become a risky investment decision more than a guarantee in attaining a high paying job like it did when boomers graduated from university (unless you did your research and know which major is worth its value).honestly attaining a technical skill isn't a stupid decision considering the fact that it'll help you attain enough money to invest for a down payment without thinking of repaying student loans, meanwhile someone who studied a major bachelors in university is either struggling to find a job due to majoring in (lets say..)psychology or he/she is struggling to payout his/her student loans which btw has a high interest rate...of course this degree will find its way to have its worth but how long should one wait? 5-10 years? 20 years?
Hi, did you find a loan for your studies? I've also gained admission into UoT, master's program. Tuition fee is almost $50000/year. I'm don't know whether to go or not 😢😢
students are graduating to get Jobs and learn the Trade, not to be good people. for self-learning and to be a good person high school education is free. It's fair trade, if someone is doing business of course will take the loan, correct? this is the same, so take education very seriously like it's a business.
Thank you for this video...keep sharing valuable education funding information. Thank you for giving important details & examples. Any information on scholarships specific to Teacher Ed Programme(s), Graduate School & Law School programmes - which area of the above programmes are better scholarships available, criteria, eligibility for those who already have an undergrad degree? Are there scholarships specific to women (including married women)? Much Appreciated!
I live in the US, and I clicked on this video because I was interested in learning about how student loans work in other countries. In the US, total student loan debt is up to $1.6 trillion which is way higher than what you said for Canada. I do, however, understand that Canadian dollars have a different value than US dollars.
THOUGHT LOAN WAS GONE UNTIL I SAW A RECOMMENDATION HERE ON UA-cam ABOUT MRS PATRISIAH AND I GOT IN TOUCH WITH HER AND SHE HELPED ME WITH MY SBA LOAN APPLICATION APPROVED WITH FUNDING JUST IN 24HOURS MAY GOD CONTINUE TO HONOR HER WORK
I am meant to join York University for an accelerated bachelor of nursing degree. I am not well to do as I lost my dad who used to pay my fees. I am in Kenya and I don't know how best I could find my education abroad. I would really want to realize my dreams without wallowing in huge debts. I am REALLY NEEDY. please advise.
Interesting and shocking insight , That's one of the reasons why i am reluctant to study abroad , can you help me with scholarship for master program as an international student ?
Thanks for the information my child just finished her secondary school, i the father don't have money to send her to school in Canada because it always has been my Dreama that my first child will school in Canada, please can you help?
It’s hard to use words to convey my heartfelt appreciation for the kind of help Mrs Patrisiah has rendered for me. she's always the best service and good person I am very great-full when I see that My Loan payment has been approved through her service. She's the beat admin, and I’m so really happy with her good working software
as a poor person who wants to pursue their dream of pharmacy tech i have no choice but to do student loans. idk anything about scholarships, but either way, thank you for this eye opening video. now i know i will be near 40 still paying off loans lol. oh well. just the way she goes.
@@debtfreeforcanadians9386 Doesn't time play a factor in inflation as well as momentum? University costs will go up each year so why put it off. Unless you meant part-time work with university(?) Recomnend Highly: Apply for scholarships, bursaries, grants and low interest loans plus pursue a career that will allow you to pay off debt within 3years of working. The waiting to save money route may backfire & it is a well known fact that once students start working and making an income and on track with a job they rarely go back to school & the struggling uni/college student life. Then comes marriage, kids, more expenses, obligations & you miss your window of opportunity & time. Go now just like you naturally go from grade 9 to 10 or grade 11 to 12 I strongly suggest following that structured path to college/University on the same cobtinuous timeline- Momentum is Motivation!
I’m 21 and still need my parents filling out a certain form then later didn’t receive any funding (no grants neither) because they figured my parents had some extra money and had the “obligation” to support me with them. I thought I was supposed to be an adult😮

Great breakdown! I just shared a video on what options students have when it’s time to pay back their loans ✨
Start small and work your way up. My fav doc started as a CNA and worked her way up - now a specialist.
I am about to finish this process of student loans for Education Assistance with CDI college in Alberta and I am very nervous about 😮
Interesting stuff. Regardless of college or university, you have to get creative with how you plan, operate and finance such educational projects.
They should definitely educate high school students before going off to college.
This is a scam of the highest level
