Jst too good... really loved Tony’s solo, daaammnn the whole band is on fire like usual. The musicianship is nxt level... nothing compares to Planet X. I think Virgil is the most mind blowing drummer I’ve ever heard!
I not have words..... Thanks a lot brother. My favorite band in the universe. THIS IS PURE GOLD!!!!! Let me sharing this on Planet X Fans on Facebook. Derek is there!!! Amazing material dude. Thanks again.
To moon babie factor. I remember years ago buying the moon babies album in Dublin Ireland only knowing them that Sherinian was a keyboard player whose performances I had previously enjoyed in earlier dream theater albums but after found suddenly enjoying said dream theater with Jordan rudess at the helm abruptly. somehow missing the distinct Sherinian sound I sought for his work after dream theater and risked my money on that planet X album because of Sherinian first and it's impressive moon scaped cover second. Nothing could prepare me for my train trip journey back to my home town with that cd in my then Walkman! The memory still with me today and reminded again of my your comment and user name here in this comment section. Thanks for helping me recall, and I enjoin you in celebrating this group and their unique prog compositions which we have enjoyed immensely. For me, Sherinians dark and deeply layered crunchy keyboard tones coupled with Mac alpines floating epic arpeggio flourishes unified by Donati's often obscure and almost alien rhythms that also yet somehow grounded the enterprise (as if he were both the space and gravity in the concept album with Derek being the piercing sun or star and macalpine acting as passing satellite moons or strange space debris). The whole thing a genius realisation of harnessed talent with the same goals delivering a very focused and unique listening experience. Dream theater have always had great music and songs but none of their instrumental work has the same impact as planet x albums have had for the pure reason of group and writing dynamic. Dream theater have strong personalities striving for own vision. Planet X was an assemble and almost jazz project with contribution from all the talent resulting in a special yet consistent concept album
I was at this show, saw both sets and was there for Mike Keneally and Beer for Dolphins but was also a Planet X fan, so i got to see two sets of my favourite bands that night! Thanks for the footage!
So good to see this! I was at this gig! I remember being disappointed because I thought they were headlining, but they actually just played a short opening set for Beer for Dolphins (who I never heard of that the time). Wonderful that someone captured it on video. A lot of good memories from the Bottom Line back in those days!
00:00 Ignotus per ignotium 07:00 Clonus 11:10 Tony MacAlpine Guitar solo 13:50 Dog boots 17:35 Derek Sherinian Keyboard solo 18:34 Warfinger 21:30 *Dave Larue Bass solo 22:45 Virgil Donati Drum Solo 25:00 Atlantis Part 1. (Apocalypse 1470 B.C.)
This is a rough show - I’m saying this as someone who fully understands how hard this stuff is to pull off, and they hide the mistakes very well - crazy internal meter they all have. I just noticed quite a lot of slop from anyone not named Virgil Donati
And i had to pay the Bottom Line $50 to record both sets by Planet X and Mike Keneally. At Virgil's request, i recorded the other set with Neuman mics instead of the soundboard (luckily).
@@liveviddy can't blame you bud. it's just that after hearing sound quality of stuff like this ua-cam.com/video/D6_fQIqLdls/v-deo.html one tends to be pampered and spoilt....cheers anyways !

Your artist list says Billy Sheehan but that is Dave LaRue on bass.
K I C K A S S ! ! ! \m/
its a shame that the keyboard gain muffles most of the sound but still, this recording is gold.
Sounds killer on Atlantis at the end... the keyboard punchiness really works for it.
i just cant believe that "Soundboard audio feed" sucked so much even in 2001
And i had to pay the Bottom Line $50 to record both sets by Planet X and Mike Keneally. At Virgil's request, i recorded the other set with Neuman mics instead of the soundboard (luckily).
