Renault sport has a lot of History (in Europe) the front engine Clio sport was one of the best hot hatches ever. so does the Megane RS this one is kind of a tribute to the crazy R5 Maxi Turbo - a legendary rally car
Renault Sport is legit inhouse tuning arm of Renault with loads of racing history. It's legendary, it has provided some of the best hot hatches all the way back from Renault GT 5 Turbo to Clio and Megane RS. VW Golf GTI could learn a lot from Megane RS belive me.
@@edobec2 unfortunately Renault Sport tried to "learn" from VW instead and went backwards. Now the Clio RS is dead and Megane not quite the stand out it was.
There’s a couple more hot hatches turned mid-engined super hatches other than the Clio V6 and VW Golf W12. Most of them were built in limited production numbers for homologation purposes in rallying. The Renault 5 Turbo being one of the earliest mid-engines hot hatches that was built for Group 4 rallying. There was also the Peugeot 205 T16, MG Metro 6R4 and Lancia Delta S4, which were built for Group B. Technically speaking they counted as production cars as the rules stipulated you had to build 200 units within a 12 month period, but these were rally cars through and through and were certainly rough around the edges.
None of those Group B cars had anything to do with the road cars, other than they looked similar, everything was different. The 6R4 shared headlights, rear lights and doors with the road car.

Renault makes great fun cars, I own a mk1 Megane 2.0 16V with the 150hp williams engine, its also a great fun car to drive, shares most of the design ideas with the clio you've reviewed as far as interior goes and I can tell you, after driving old renaults pretty much ever since I got my driver's license, the radio controls behind the steering wheel are the best thing ever, takes a little getting used to at first, but after you learn where to put your fingers to do what, its the best way of controlling the radio volume ever
I love these cars. I desperately wanted the phase 2 in liquid yellow that my local dealer had, but it was far too much money. Ended up with a Clio RS197. To this day the most fun car I've ever owned.
When it comes to Euro hatchbacks that were converted to mid-engine for its hot version that was sold to the public, you missed the real OG! The Peugeot 205 T16. Great video guys!
Where did you get this? This is a classic. Now a collector's car. This is a true driver's car . Special built. Nice to see it in Canada. Nice to see Straight Pipes testing it.
Man I remember drooling over these when they first came out, wanted one so bad! Fast forward many many years and I finally got the spiritual successor, the M140i - 6 cylinder engine in a small hatchback is so much fun! Embarrassed a few M3's as well as the x-drive gives brutal traction off the lights :D
Yes yes yes. I always felt that there was a lack of coverage (from all automotive channels) from brands that aren't available in North America. But as a Clio IV RS Trophy owner, this is even cooler. I love crazy hot hatches. Renault 5 GT Turbo next? And you guys said it in the reviews and that's why I own one: The 0-60 time is fine but all the mechanical noises, the suspension... Just the pure joy of driving it is fantastic. I can feel like a racing driver on my daily commute without losing my licence. I can't stop smiling when I drive it and I love my car. Renault Sport and Abarth are totally my thing.
I used to have a 2006 Renault Clio 1.6. But it was automatic, I would have loved to have the manual. However, after that Clio I got a 2011 Peugeot 206 manual which I loved. Hopefully there is a Peugeot 206 RS that you guys can drive. I really like you did this review, it brought back some good memories with that Clio.
Renault Clio in Europe between 1995 and early 2000s was a very cool car, together with Peugeot 205 GTI, Fiat Uno Turbo, WV Golf GT and its predecessor, the Renault 5 - Also, all very fast and dangerous to drive. One of my friends used to drive the Renault Clio Williams (the civilized version of this one) - it was damn fast for that times. If you ever find one in Canada, I suggest 2 European cars: Peugeot 205 GTI and Lancia Delta HF Integrale. Thanks for reviewing this car! Great Job!

Yes!!! Lots of good memories with this thing from gran turismo.
Those rolling shot with the color of the trees were perfect
I like the fact that the automated subtitles goes out of its way to call the engine sound music XD
I love these cars. I desperately wanted the phase 2 in liquid yellow that my local dealer had, but it was far too much money. Ended up with a Clio RS197. To this day the most fun car I've ever owned.
Somebody that lives near me has a yellow one but he never drives it
When it comes to Euro hatchbacks that were converted to mid-engine for its hot version that was sold to the public, you missed the real OG! The Peugeot 205 T16. Great video guys!
Where did you get this? This is a classic. Now a collector's car. This is a true driver's car . Special built. Nice to see it in Canada. Nice to see Straight Pipes testing it.
Always loved this car and this is the first time I ever seen a review on it. Thanks guys and congrats again on the million subs!
Beautiful shots with the fall colors
Renault sport cars are really popular here in Europe. Nice to see that they get media coverage from the other side of the planet.
Second best car review channel on UA-cam!
Happy day before Halloween 🎃! LOVE this car! And the channel!
Nice throwback! They used this (on Top Gear) a decade ago to prove the 242km/h makes it the traffic camera' flash, couldn't capture the license plate.
Nice to see a french car on this channel ! Bravo !
I love the Renault Clio sport! Glad you guys are doing this car, its a very cool hot hatch I’ve seen in top gear
I played with this car on for a horizon that’s the only time I have ever seen one you guys are awesome !!!!
OB prestige is the new C&C Motors! Happy with anything you pull from them!
Great Job!
Leaves sticking to the front mesh of the car, looked beautiful
How great does this sound! Plus, you can ring this cars neck and not break the law. Great review guys. Your channel keeps getting better and better
Awesome review! Also am I the only one who could barely hear anything with that engine noise? haha
I couldn’t hear anything and I was in the car. Too loud
@@TheStraightPipes :O I never expected a reply back but holy shit! haha love you guys keep up all the amazing content!
