Louisiana's growing wildfires prompt evacuations

- An entire town in southwestern Louisiana is under mandatory evacuation orders because of the Tiger Island Fire, a wildfire that state officials say is the largest they have ever seen. Louisiana has been plagued by record-breaking heat and extreme drought. This month alone, there have been an unprecedented 441 wildfires in the state. CBS News' Janet Shamlian reports.

Louisiana is definitely suffering from the lack of rain and the intense heat. Our “feels like” temps have been as higher as 117 degrees. Prayers for those victims of the fire. Those found lightning fires should be held accountable.
Yes it just finally rained where I lived. It is way to hot over here the grass is absolutely dead and disgusting. It was so hot out there that you would get sunburns in like 30 minutes of being out there. We Litterally Brooke records the past couple weeks. Luckily we aren’t to close to the fires but still fairly close. I want to pray for everyone in the fires❤️❤️

Wildfires in Louisiana? That doesn’t make sense.
How does it not make sense when we have been in extreme drought conditions since early July? Some of us here live around nothing but pine trees and moss. Our yard is brown. It's been 100 plus degrees for weeks, with no humidity.. It only rained just last night where I'm at. Some of it was arson and some of it was not. They aren't even reporting on the fires that have happened here in central portions of Louisiana.

We had some wildfires in 2011 in northwest la. Smokey sky every day for a couple weeks. This fire though is much worse. Yes, we do get them.

It is abnormally dry in this area for most of the summer now. Last summer the dry spell was half as long as this year but the rain is coming back. Of course now they’re saying that the tiger island fire is arson

Reporter said Northeastern Louisiana....... this is west, north west Louisiana near the Texas/Louisiana state line. North of Lake Charles.

I’ve been concerned about how dry my hunting property is lately, I left the west because I was tired of wildfire evacuations, among other reasons, now in Arkansas it looks like we’re in danger
I have coworkers working on the Tiger Bay fire. It was arson it sounds like but some thunderstorms yesterday has pushed the fire out due to winds. But rain came last night finally.

@WheatRoad Peoples been saying that for ages. Wildfires aren't new. People probably said the same thing during the Peshtigo Fire that burnt in the 1800s in Wisconsin and killed over an estimated 2000 people.

@WheatRoad Wildfires aren't new dude. They happen everywhere. And the Peshtigo Fire in Wisconsin of all places burned over 1 million acres. If that happened today then you would be screaming that the world is going to end..
I believe in God and know we don't know when times will end. There will be rumors of war, etc but there has ALWAYS been war. There is no specific time because Christ will come back like a thief in the night....when you least expect it

I can honestly say that a majority of smokers throwing lit up cigs on the ground and pyromaniacs in Louisiana have an unquenchable thirst for starting fires without understanding how a small problem can turn into a bigger problem. I've lived there and seen it all. I'm currently up in Illinois due to family issues and getting away from negativity that all started from there. Minimum wage is pretty bad and you have to work a lot of hours just to make a decent living down there. The best way to get a job is by knowing someone who can get you on at that job or you have enough experience to acquire that job.

It's fascinating to me in Ukraine there is a war going on and I never hear about wildfires but in places like Louisiana and Hawaii where it rains and it's humid there are wildfires.

Ukraine is generally not a hot country and also not a dry one it’s mostly cold during the year but yes wildfires can happen anywhere in the world and also there is thousands of videos in the internet of Ukrainian and Russian equipment burning causing the fire to spread just look up „Ukraine war explosion footage“ and you will find it
