It's weird to watch a National Geographic vid that has a video of your town in flames in it.
I was just thinking the same thing. #sonomastrong #napastrong
My warmest condolences! If you're from California, may I ask if you've experienced some strange things... i.e. I've heard of trees close to houses that didn't burn, or molten Metal...
Fr
Finnian Hadid cool your right
@@drumSick66 yeah , most that burned is bushes and lower part of the trees. Most trees still had top of trees remains. If its a very steep hill those trees were all burned down. Also very strange, when fires begin (berry creek , ca) they had the fire mostly contained and out of no where it broke out again and trippled the size in one night. 80 football fields burned every one minute.
Lmao, who's watching this in September 2020 where the whole west coast is covered in smoke, cuz i am
Yup
I'm not in America tho
The happy music fits about as well as 'the best day ever' song from spongebob would fit in Final Destination.
"since wild fires occur outdoor"
😂😂😂😂 it is wild so obviously outdoor.
Yeah, it has wild IN it, like National Geographic, what?
Anybody here because of the fires in Canada?
Yeah
only reply to this if you have to watch this for remote learning because of coronavirus
Yep
Sounds legit
:/
Yep
ayyy this is depressing
Who’s here because of school causes i am
Lancs??
I watched it just for my science assignment but its a good and informative video
Just turn fire spreading off

yea its like so easy ugh wildfires shouldn't exist
Praying for some 🌧
bro you got hearted by (・_・) national geographic
Iam here for a homework hii😂
The movie "Only the Brave" gives an idea of how fast wild fires can move and how quickly they can get out of control, even with seasoned veteran firefighters on scene.
The fires are very dangerous and the people fighting them should have better resources.
Give them water with sprinklers?
i only watching cause my mam told me to 😝😝😝
I live in Portugal and only this year 10% of our forest burned.
In my municipality/county 80% of the land burned in just 1 night 10 days ago due to hight temperatures and winds from hurricane Ophelia that passed a few miles from our coast. Factories and homes were reduced to ashes, and people died in other parts of the country, more than 100 this year.
That's horrible. What is Portugal's approach to dealing with the conditions that lead to such large out of control fires?
@@DavidElzeitsinfill Mandatory forest clearings around houses and roads, not much else.
But since that year there hasnt been huge fire seasons.
I dont want to disapoint you but here in greece things are much worse. And no official response on top of that
I just wanted too know how they start
Well some of this stuff I don't know thanks for the information
Thanks for learning with us 🤓
yeah
SCHOOL TIME BABY
I'm watching this video to get information for my essay :D
I’m watching this for HASS/school
We all are here for school
Same lol
Same
We burn off here in Australia, its a good system and most of the time goes well but you don't really ever have full control over things like fire.
LOL THIS COMMENT DID NOT AGE WELL 2020
How's the controlled burns going?
Lmfao the replies
Title: The Impact of Forest Fires on Ecosystems and Communities
Introduction:
Forest fires, also known as wildfires, play a pivotal role in shaping ecosystems and influencing the lives of various organisms. This essay explores the causes, ecological consequences, and human responses to forest fires, shedding light on the intricate relationship between these natural phenomena and the environments they inhabit.
Causes of Forest Fires:
Forest fires can be ignited by both natural and human-induced factors. Lightning strikes are a common natural cause, capitalizing on dry conditions to spark flames that can rapidly spread through vegetation. Human activities contribute significantly to wildfires, ranging from campfires left unattended to discarded cigarettes and, unfortunately, deliberate acts of arson. Climate change, with its influence on weather patterns, has been identified as a factor that increases the frequency and intensity of fires, creating a more conducive environment for wildfires to occur.
Ecological Consequences:
The impact of forest fires on ecosystems is profound and multifaceted. While some plant and animal species have evolved to withstand and even benefit from periodic fires, others face severe consequences. The destruction of vegetation directly affects wildlife habitats, leading to displacement and loss of biodiversity. Additionally, the release of carbon dioxide during combustion contributes to greenhouse gas emissions, exacerbating climate change. The intricate web of relationships within ecosystems is disrupted, and the long-term effects can be challenging to predict.
Adaptations to Fire:
In the face of such a formidable force, certain plant and animal species have evolved adaptive mechanisms to cope with and even thrive in fire-prone environments. Some plant species have seeds that require the heat of fire to germinate, ensuring their regeneration after a blaze. Animals may have developed behaviors to escape or endure fire, contributing to the resilience and adaptation observed in ecosystems shaped by recurrent fires. These adaptations underscore the complexity of natural systems and their ability to respond dynamically to environmental challenges.
Human Responses:
Communities worldwide employ various strategies to prevent, manage, and recover from forest fires. Preventive measures include creating firebreaks-cleared areas that act as barriers to slow or stop the progress of fires-and controlled burns, where fires are intentionally set under controlled conditions to reduce fuel and minimize the risk of larger, uncontrolled blazes. Early detection systems, including satellite monitoring and ground-based surveillance, enhance the ability to respond swiftly to emerging fires. Firefighters, equipped with specialized gear and technology, play a crucial role in combating wildfires, often putting their lives at risk to protect communities and natural resources. Additionally, community education and awareness programs aim to reduce human-induced fire incidents, emphasizing responsible behaviors and the importance of fire safety.
Economic and Social Impacts:
Beyond the ecological sphere, forest fires have far-reaching economic and social consequences. The destruction of timber resources, loss of property, and disruption of agriculture can result in significant economic setbacks for communities in fire-prone regions. The economic impact extends beyond immediate losses, affecting industries such as forestry and tourism. Furthermore, the displacement of communities and the physical and mental toll on individuals affected by wildfires underscore the social challenges associated with these events. Evacuations, temporary shelters, and the process of rebuilding homes and lives all contribute to the social and psychological strain experienced by those impacted by forest fires.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, forest fires are complex phenomena with profound implications for ecosystems and human societies. While they are natural components of many landscapes, human activities have contributed to an increase in the frequency and severity of wildfires. Balancing preventive measures, adaptive strategies, and effective responses is crucial for mitigating the impact of forest fires on the environment and communities. Only through a comprehensive understanding of the ecological, economic, and social dimensions of forest fires can we develop sustainable solutions to coexist with these dynamic and potentially destructive forces.
Problem is, wildfires now occur unnaturaly often now cause of global warming
This is just what I wanted to watch while waiting to be accepted as a Firefighter...
Hope you get accepted :)
a very good infodeo.
We're glad that you found it informative! 🤓
I’m watching this bc I have to write abt it for school

Naturally forest is fire is very most event for mineral recycling so that ecosystem balances
So basically fall trees are flammable?
Thank you for making this video
It was informative and interesting
Yea to informative

““Therefore, tell the people of Israel, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Repent and turn away from your idols, and stop all your detestable sins.”
Ezekiel 14:6 NLT
No, and I tell you again that unless you repent, you will perish, too.””
Luke 13:1-5 NLT
“Tell the southern wilderness, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Hear the word of the Lord! I will set you on fire, and every tree, both green and dry, will be burned. The terrible flames will not be quenched and will scorch everything from south to north. And everyone in the world will see that I, the Lord, have set this fire. It will not be put out.’””

Was this written for Second graders? It is SO simplistic.
"hay World Bring out the truth or else it will be too late "
In India, Bhutan and Myanmar also have forests as well as scorching heat, in the Himalayas the same kind of trees like Europe, America, Canada, Brazil as well as Danes forest even the public is less expert and poor but no wild fire what does it means ?
There is never a wild fire there, have you ever heard it?
The world will have to think again, what is this mystery?
Why only Europe, Brazil, Australia, Canada?
No wild fire in South Africa?
Bring out the truth or else it will be too late, some most developed brains are on way to kill entire earth more early then the expected ....need just few gentleman who can help to bring the truth before the world....
WIldfires appear outdoors :O
God said the second time he would destroy the world by fire.
I fee so sorry
Super informative! I watched your other program the Meteorology of Fire Weather..Excellent ...I live in Delaware and we are getting a lot of smoke from northern and western Canada. Be careful! Don't be a martyr
Already.
If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around ta hear it, does it make a sound?
Indeed it does, the rabbits felt it and the birds saw it.
Podrian sacar una version en español?
My teacher send me here. Like if your teacher did 🧑🏫 👨🏫 👩🏫
The sun... how does the sun heat up to tinder temps without focusing?
Yeah
Yet another reason to hate smokers from the city. They are used to just tossing cigarettes on the concrete and never shift their mental gears to control their fire.
see friends we can't stop the these fire but we can stop our human activities which causes harm to nature.
nature is our living place keep it safe
We can all work together to make the planet a safer place 🌎

thanks for repling
Unless you wanna kill off billions of people, it's not as easy to do as one might hope.
Mr. E it starts with us .
because one can change the whole world.
neha singh I agree it does start with us, but to say that one can change the whole world is not true. You should read That the World May Know. The senior volenteers are embarrased by that kind of thinking when they first started.
Wildfires most wildfire start by people I can bill million clickers and land a quick speak

Let's be honest , we all are here for a project or an assignment
I wanna know how there wild fires in the desert
That's easy because when vegetation is super dry and dead the sun's heat is all it takes to ignite a fire.
this will help me with my homework a lot

mah boi Wild Fire ruthless as always
This year in Portugal the wildfires consumed an estimated area the some size of Algarve. For a small country like Portugal is too much. The origin of this wildfires goes far beyond natural causes...
Literally today i burnt a huge dense forest ,i thought , everything gonna end .tnk God within time people came together slowly and we stop the fire by bushes 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵
this almost made me cry...
Get used to it...
