Despite it not doing justice to the Ghostbusters franchise, we should all be grateful that the 2016 movie exists because it introduced the world to Sean Chandler and his channel. And that’s something I’ll always be thankful for.
Sean Chandler's channel is the best thing to come out of the reboot.
Dang right
Amen!
Same it gives us one of the best movies UA-camr
Damn, Sean always talks about Ghostbusters (2016) in a weirdly passionate way. He acts like it changed the trajectory of his life or something
My ranking
1.Ghostbusters 1
2.Ghostbusters 2
3.Ghostbusters: Afterlife
4.Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire
5.Ghostbusters 2016
Same ranking for me. While I think Afterlife is a superior film to 2, I have so much nostalgia for 2. Plus you still have the original team together. So I personally like it a little more than Afterlife. It's so close!
1. Ghostbusters 1984 (9/10)
2. Ghostbusters: Afterlife (8.5/10)
3. Ghostbusters II (7.5/10)
4. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (7.5/10)
5. Ghostbusters 2016: (5.5/10)
Yes. This is the way. Literally my exact ranking lol (though... I still kinda like ghostbusters 2 more than afterlife, maybe it's just cuz I binged it over and over again as a kid).
The best part of GHOSTBUSTERS II is Peter MacNicol as Janusz and his hammy accent. He's honestly really funny and redeems a lot of the movie for me. MacNicol is also just an underrated character actor.
YES
Ghostbusters 2 doesn't need to be redeemed. It's a good movie.
Ghostbusters Afterlife is my favorite, it made me feel like a nine years old again.
5. Ghostbusters 2016-While I’ll always be grateful for this movie giving us Sean Chandler Talks About, as a Ghostbusters film, this movie drops the ball because its injection of humor that doesn’t fit with the franchise and its feeling of being a more corporate product
4. Ghostbusters II-It’s still nice to spend time with these characters, but when it comes to the story, humor, and moments, it’s lacking the majority of the magic the first film has, making for a more mediocre sequel
3. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire-Despite not being great by any means, it still delivers the elements I want from a Ghostbusters story with the enjoyable cast of characters, plenty of paranormal creatures, and newly introduced lore
2. Ghostbusters: Afterlife-A highly enjoyable Ghostbusters revival that has a familiar Ghostbusters plotline and ties that into an emotional story of legacy with plenty of humor to make for the most holistic experience of any of these films
1. Ghostbusters-An absolutely wonderful blend of the paranormal, humor, and sci-fi elements held together by Bill Murray at the top of his game and incredibly memorable imagery and sequences from start to finish, which makes for one of my all time favorite movies
1) Ghostbusters
2) Ghostbusters: Afterlife
3) Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire
4) Ghostbusters 2
5) Ghostbusters 2016
C'mon Sean, Ghostbusters II is one of the best sequels of all time, definitely on par with the 1st one in my opinion. It's a Bill Murray show with tons of humor, great story, perfect casting and with a far more interesting villian than in the 1st one. In all those years since mid of the 80s i have seen Ghostbusters 1 and 2 multiple times the second one became my favourite.
Don't agree at all. Bill Murray definitely doesn't agree with you. And it doesn't seem like any of the creators of the film share your evaluation of it.
@@SeanChandlerTalksAboutBill doesn't have to agree with this at all. The movie speaks for itself and does not need to get an approval of the creators to be good. Quite a lot of directors and actors don't like their best movies. So if they like it or not, it does influence the rating of a movie ? I don't think that's relevant in any way.
I loved seeing Slimer in the background!
Nice to know that slimmer just casually lives in Sean’s house 😂😅
Love the slimer intro
My personal rankings:
1. Ghostbusters (10/10)
2. Afterlife (9.5/10)
3. Frozen Empire (8.3/10)
4. Ghostbusters 2 (6/10)
5. Ghostbusters 2016 (3.5/10)
Love the slimmer popcorn bucket
My ranking
1. Ghostbusters
2. Ghostbusters afterlife
3. Ghostbusters Frozen Empire
4. Ghostbusters 2
5. Ghostbusters Answer the Call
I agree
1. Ghostbusters (1984)
2. Ghostbusters Afterlife (2021)
3.Ghostbusters Frozen Empire (2024)
4. Ghostbusters 2 (1989)
5. Ghostbusters (2016)
Ghostbusters Afterlife and Ghostbusters (1984) are really close and pretty much interchangeable ranking wise. Also I have that Cinemark Slimer popcorn bucket too.
Nah. Ghostbusters 2 is the best of them all.
I’d go:
5. Ghostbusters 2016 1/10
4. Ghostbusters Afterlife 7.5/10
3. Ghostbusters Frozen Empire 7.5/10
2. Ghostbusters II 7.5/10
1. Ghostbusters 9/10
The 1/10 is the one point it gets for making this channel :)
You sexist
The one good thing that the 2016 movie did was give the world your channel Sean so for that reason alone I'm grateful for that movie's existence
love slimer in the intro
My first two:
1. Ghostbusters (1984)
2. Ghostbusters II (1989)
All the emails from Sony sent during 2016 Ghostbusters pre-production / production during the email leak are hilarious to go back and read. Ivan Reitman was not too happy with a lot of things, and several emails were told to "not tell Ivan."
The audiobook I mention in here touched on that a little bit, but it clearly didn't want to do too much to bash the movie (and for some reason Donald Trump came up a weird amount while discussing the film hahaha).
Now I want to look those up.
@@SeanChandlerTalksAbout It's funny reading all the studio notes to Paul Feig about the dance sequences haha
Last: 2016 Bad
4th Ghostbusters 2 Decent
3rd Frozen Empire Decent
2nd Afterlife Great
1st Ghostbusters Awesome
2 is actually the best to me
My list is Ghostbusters 2016, Ghostbusters 2, Ghostbusters 1, Ghostbusters: Afterlife. I haven't seen Frozen Empire yet
When there's a new film out,
and it belongs to a franchise,
Who's gonna rank them?
Sean Chandler!
correct
You are the beat channel on youtube, i have seen all of your videos keep up the good work 👏
I appreciate that!
5# Ghostbusters 2016 - The only thing that worked for me was the visuals and Chris Hemsworth
4# Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire - an enjoyable enough yet convoluted mess
3# Ghostbusters Afterlife - a fun return to Ghostbusters
2# Ghostbusters 2 - honestly this just puts a smile on my face and makes me laugh
1# Ghostbusters - one of the freshest and funniest comedies ever
My theater was rockin’ during the 2016 movie. Guess we had a contrarian crowd?
I still haven’t seen the new Ghostbusters movie yet. I’m very preoccupied playing Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade on my Steam Deck. And I do work almost every day. But I will say I did watch the 1984, 1989, and 2021 movies last Saturday.
Ok, I’m not the biggest Ghostbusters fan. I think last Saturday might be the first time I ever saw the 80s ones in their entirety. I’ve seen parts of Part II on TV but not all of it. And even parts of Part 1. And perhaps I don’t remember it all that much as I didn’t find them memorable except the song.
I did watch The Real Ghostbusters cartoons as a kid. I did dress up as one next to my cousins during the 80s similar to Stranger Things in S2. I did have Ghostbusters toys including a Slimer squirt gun. I did own the Ghostbusters II soundtrack because I love that Bobby Brown song. But honestly, I’m shockingly not the biggest fan of the franchise. I’m an 80s baby who only recently saw the 80s Ghostbusters is very telling I’m not a diehard fan.
So I recently saw a ranking from Chris of Film Stocked and I’m in 100% in agreement with him. I believe Afterlife is the superior Ghostbusters movie to the original 1984 one. While the 1984 one is very iconic, it doesn’t have the heart of the 2021 movie. In Part 1 & 2, we don’t really know the characters. Peter is the main protagonist since he has a love story but we never see his character grow at all. They’re the same people in Part 1 & 2.
I think the biggest feelz came at the end of Afterlife when Callie (Carrie Coon) hugs Egon. Throughout the entire movie, Egon was known as a deadbeat father who didn’t care about his family. I thought they executed that right. Then her children trying to find their place in that town and in the world. Afterlife was a tribute to Harold Ramis but I thought that movie had the best character development in the entire franchise.
I get it. The 1984 movie will always be the best to older people who are longtime fans. It holds the most nostalgia to them. It’s similar to how I feel with the OG Final Fantasy VII. I would PLAY the OG but rather WATCH the Remake since it’s essentially a visual novel and interactive movie. But similar to the revisionist history with the Star Wars Prequels, I think the newer ones will get more accepted as time goes on since a younger generation never grew up on the original.
I just think the 1984 movie doesn’t hold up quite well for modern audiences the way the 2021 did. Ghostbusters is not like Back to the Future or Indiana Jones where those 80s IPs are highly rewatchable for future generations. There’s part to it that would not work today similar to the first Top Gun movie or even comparing the OG Karate Kid to Cobra Kai. They’re a product for their time. And only nostalgia is their acne cream to clear up the actual blemishes they had even back then.
Afterlife > OG
1. Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021)
2. Ghostbusters (1984)
3. Ghostbusters II (1989)
I have a feeling that Frozen Empire will be either 3rd or 4th. I heard from Tyrone Magnus that he didn’t care for it and gave it 2 out of 5 wooos. Don’t care to watch the 2016 movie. Sorry. I don’t see it as canon.
My Ranking
1. Ghostbusters 1984
2. Ghostbusters Afterlife
3. Ghostbusters The Frozen Empire
4. Ghostbusters Answer the Call 2016
5. Ghostbusters 2
1. Ghostbusters 1984
2. Ghostbusters Afterlife
3. Ghostbusters Frozen Empire
4. Ghostbusters 2
5. Ghostbusters 2016
Thanks for taking the effort to put this fine vid together, Sean!
No job is too big, no fee is too big!
My personal ranking (I haven’t seen frozen empire)
4. Ghostbusters (2016)
(I don’t even really count this one with the rest of the series. In my mind it takes place in an alternate universe)
3. Ghostbusters 2 (a flawed but fun sequel. Love the creativity in the climax)
2. Afterlife (an underrated legacy sequel that continues the franchise in a heartfelt way)
1. Ghostbusters (1984) (a unique 80s classic;)
I''ve seen all Ghostbusters movies except Ghostbusters 2.
1. Ghostbusters 1984
2. Ghostbusters Afterlife
3. Ghostbusters Frozen Empire
4. Ghostbusters 2016.
Ghostbuster the original always will stay at the top of my list , it is definitely a classic
Watching these movies (many for the first time, except Afterlife and the original), my list matches up with yours. I certainly don't agree with everything you said about some of the films, but
5. Ghostbusters/Answer the Call (2016)
4. Ghostbusters 2
3. Frozen Empire
2. Afterlife
....
...And by a country mile, the original at number one! I didn't grow up with this now-franchise (Sony was too greedy to leave it at one movie, as they should have), but have seen the first one many times, and it works so well, balancing humor and horror while playing it straight.
My ranking:
1. Ghostbusters
2. Ghostbusters: Afterlife
3. Ghostbusters II
4. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire
5. Ghostbusters: Answer The Call
My Ranking List:
1.Ghostbusters 10/10
2.Ghostbusters Frozen Empire 8.7/10

Ghostbusters II is my favourite one... It was my first time getting into the series, I watched it on loop... 😅😂
This ranking is spot on, thank you!

Love the SFX in the video dude!
Ghostbusters
Frozen Empire
Afterlife
Ghostbusters 2
Afterlife was the first ghostbusters movie I saw in theatre’s so it will always be my favourite
That Slimer intro was awesome!
Lighting on point as usual 🫡
Love the Thumbnail 🔥🔥🔥
Sean's ranking is the correct order. We can all agree that Ghostbusters (2016) is last.
I think that you described why the reboot wasn't good in a fair, respectful way, and I really appreciate it. It's a bad reboot that I don't like, but a lot of negative reviews towards it were too exaggerated and off-putting for me.
Appreciate it. And very literally....trying to discuss films in a respectful way is what my channel has always been about. ANd it all started with ghostbusters 2016
Couldn't agree more with your ranking! I'd like to see a 'legacyfilms-list'. Blade Runner II, Ghostbusters Afterlife, Star Wars TFA,... etc.
1. Ghostbusters: 10/10
2. Ghostbusters II: 9/10
3. Ghostbusters Afterlife: 8/10
4. Ghostbusters Frozen Empire: 7/10
5. Ghostbusters Answer The Call: 1/10
1. Ghostbusters A
2. Ghostbusters Afterlife A-
3. Ghostbusters 2 C+
4. Ghostbusters 2016 F
Haven't seen Frozen Empire yet. Probably gonna wait till streaming
Gotta love Sean subtly flexing the fact he’s met Weird Al in the middle of a Ghostbusters ranking
I met Weird AL.........at the haunted hotel where they shot Ghostbusters!
Thank God for lady Ghost Busters. Glad you made it Sean!!!!
Yup. Great minds think alike. I have the exact same ranking.
You had a very nuanced take on the 2016 one. Some corners of the internet talk about it in weird and obsessive manners
The movie is neither good or bad enough to warrant all the discussion.
Ultimately Ghostbusters' legacy will always be tied to SNL. And thats a good thing.
In my opinion, One thing the 2016 got right was the amount of Ghost that were fought, and trapped. In the first and the second ghost are seen but not really fought.
#42 is Ghostbusters. The main cast of ghostbusters explains the genius of this movie.
Ray (Dan Aykroyd) the big kid who wants to explore and know the truth. Our everyman.
Egon Spengler the genius who gives us the tech to battle the ghosts.
Dr. Venkman who wants to sleep with the college girls and could care less about ghosts.
Winston is the guy scared to death of ghosts.
What could go wrong? This movie was genius as they established who they were before the whole thing went down, so you could enjoy everything that happened to all of them.

1. Ghostbusters
2. Ghostbusters: Afterlife
3. Ghostbusters 2
4. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire
Haven’t seen the 2016 one
1. Ghostbusters
Absolute classic. Amazing chemistry between the cast, really fun, one of my personal favourite 80s movies.
9.5/10
2. Afterlife
This is really neck and neck with the original to me. On a different day I could even call this my favourite. Very emotional, very fun, very funny, very tense at moments too, just a fantastic movie at all fronts
9/10
3. Frozen Empire
I guess it was just because I was expecting more of Afterlife, but I was really disappointed. Everything felt overpacked, clunky, and hard to really get into. Still had some fun with it I guess, might need to rewatch it though.
6.5/10
4. II
I guess it’s good enough, but everything felt dry and boring, like nobody really wanted to make it.
6/10
5. 2016 Remake
Genuinely terrible. Not fun, not funny, and not a ghostbusters movie whatsoever.
2/10
1. Ghostbusters
2. Ghostbusters 2
3. Aferlife
4. Frozen Empire
5. Ghostbusters 2016
Great ranking and your awesome. I gotta say tho mine is easily Ghostbusters and then Ghostbusters 2 being my top 2 favs just because of nostalgia and Vigo was so bad-ass in my opinion. He was a very scary character. He looked very scary and the real life tale of that actor is actually even scarier!!!
My List:
5. Ghostbusters (2016)
4. Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021)
3. Ghostbusters II (1989)
2. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024)
1. Ghostbusters (1984)
1. Ghostbusters -Not my favorite of this era of comedy or blockbuster but endless entertaining, memorable and that theme song always makes me smile.
2. Ghostbusters: Afterlife
3. Ghostbusters Frozen Empire-This was nice. Better than Afterlife as a comedy and better at feeling new and different but shaggier and overstuffed. I did have fun and smiled a lot.
4. Ghostbusters 2016-The start of a paint delivery man's rise to internet stardom so I love it for that. Otherwise,a decent comedy with a great cast, a fun third act, a great Thor role and several groaner cameos. This was not worth the hate.
5. Ghostbusters 2-Not a total dud but a forgettable rehash without the same magic. At least the remake tried to make its own way. )
One thing I do really like about the 2016 film is how they actually have weapons to fight the ghosts, I thought that was different and awesome, especially Holtzmann’s badass scene.
Otherwise my ranking is…
1. Ghostbusters
2. Ghostbusters II
3. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire
4. Ghostbusters: Afterlife
5. Ghostbusters (2016)
I would easily sacrifice every ghostbusters movie made after the second one if I would get the third ghostbusters in return.
My Ranking:
05. Remake
04. Frozen Ground
03. Afterlife
02. Ghostbusters 1984
01. Ghostbusters II
I would swap 2 with 2016. I enjoyed that film. It's good for laughs and can you imagine how much the original would have been if they used the special effects in 2016?! I enjoy it and easily rewatchable.
My ranking (i haven't seen the 2016 movie):
1. Ghostbusters
2. Ghostbusters Afterlife
3. Ghostbusters Frozen Empire
4. Ghostbusters 2
1. Ghostbusters
2. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire
3. Ghostbusters: Afterlife
4. Ghostbusters 2
(I will never ever see the 2016 one)
I had the misfortune of sitting through the 2016 rubbish and could not believe I made it to the end. Yes the film is THAT bad, not funny at all. The villain was laughable but for the wrong reasons
My ranking:
5. 15% Tip During The Holidays
4. A Great Big Wang Wedding
3. Syrup on Toast
2. Operation: F.A.R.T.S
1. Pencil Shavings In My Eyes
My ghostbusters ranking
1: OG Ghostbustsrs (1984)
2: Afterlife (2021)
3: frozen empire (2024)
4: ghostbusters 2016
5: ghostbusters 2 (1989)
My ranking:
5: Ghostbusters (2016) - avoid at all costs
4: Ghostbusters: Afterlife - great return to form after 2016 abomination and great send off for the late Harold Ramis and his character, Egon Spengler
3: Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire - enjoyed a bit more than Afterlife
2 & 1: For me, it’s a toss up between Ghostbusters 1 & 2 as I enjoy them both equally and cannot decide which is better. I cannot watch the first without watching the second straight after
1. Ghostbusters

Female ghostbusters isn't even in the category - it's a completely different world and universe they just named it Ghostbusters to collect the ticket money. It's a standalone movie that Sony tried to hit it's quarterly numbers with.

Ghostbusters: Answer the Call (2016)
Hey I for one think that it was great that they made the 2016 ghostbusters film because without it we wouldn’t have afterlife or frozen empire
To this day, I still haven't watched the remake
Rank all the ghost facers episodes from supernatural closest to a live action Ghostbusters show we might ever get lol
Here’s my thing about the 2016 Ghostbuster it did try and you could tell which actress was supposed to be a mirror to from the original but the thing is, it’s not what the fans wanted and it doesn’t help that the marketing or at least the first teaser made it seem like it was in the same world as the original film I feel like fans would’ve been more on board if it was a Ghostbusters three, and they did what they did with afterlife not necessarily have them be related to the OG Ghostbusters, but have them take up the mantle from them work with them let the original OG be mentors but no, they clean the sleigh. It’s brand new characters that have nothing to do with the original. They brought back three out of the four OG actors for obvious reasons why one of them couldn’t be there and they’re just random cameos afterlife did it better it was a new generation Ghostbusters were kids which is something I didn’t think I would like and two out of four are females and even Ghostbusters frozen Empire. The mother of our main protagonist is a Ghostbusters female characters are not the problem it wasn’t Ghostbusters as a film itself. I didn’t think it was bad but a Ghostbusters movie, it’s one of the worst things you could do it’s forgettable
I still haven’t seen Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire
1. Ghostbusters: Afterlife (B+)
2. Ghostbusters (1984) (B)
3. Ghostbusters (2016) (C+)
4. Ghostbusters II (C)
So many things in the frozen empire trailer were not in the movie and it felt so odd

4. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire
3. Ghostbusters II
2. Ghostbusters: Afterlife

Totally agree with Ghostbusters 2. I never could get behind that one. I find it to be boring so hardly ever put it on. It reminds me of the “Real Ghostbusters” cartoon. The first two seasons were dark and great. Then they made it more kid friendly just like they did with Ghostbusters 2 and it just killed the overall feel.
Honestly love all 4 ghostbusters movies (I don’t rember the 2016 one)
