Bo Katan was moved when Din Djarin was reciting The Creed. It reminded her of the things she committed to in her youth. The existence of the Mythosaur also shows Bo Katan that these things may not be "childrens' stories".

    • @IsaacKuo

I think it was moving and powerful to her because ... she had seen the ritual many times before, but by "secular" Mandos. She had only ever seen it as a silly show full of flashy pomp and circumstance.
This is the first time she has seen the ritual recited by a _believer_. No bright lights. No spectacle. No showers of gifts. Just ... one _believer_, making the ceremony truly sacred simply by the depth of his earnest worship.
This is when Bo-Katan starts to realize ... it's not about magical waters. It's about the solemnity of the Vow. The waters aren't just "magic" on their own. They are made sacred by the faith of the believers.
This is something Bo-Katan needs to comprehend in order to help bring her people together.

There is a point where the Mandalorian actually could use it properly. If you look in s2 ep 8 after he's captured and defeated Moff Gideon you can see he holds it one handed, whereas he has to hold it with 2 hands in BOBF and Mando s3 because he even said he didn't want it so it got heavier after that for him.

I think you're onto something about him being entirely confused. Remember that he had already taken off his helmet before he even got the dark saber. Perhaps, after that point, he considered himself an apostate and no longer a real Mandalorian. I feel like that's the real reason why he can't wield it correctly.

    • @jdperry

He doesn't really want to be a leader though. I think that's a big part of the problem, because he accepts Bo as a Mandalorian without her helmet. He doesn't want to be stuck in one place playing politics as leader. He didn't even want to be a sheriff.

    • @Ascended13
      @Ascended13 Рік тому +14

The best leaders never want to be leaders because they are not in it for themselves. A mythosaur meeting or two might make him change his mind and feel that it is his calling after all. Finding a Jedi kid, getting the Darksaber and now the mythosaur, maybe he is destined for bigger things. Like the Force wants him to do something.

Finally! Someone sees it right! I often come across a statement that Bo is worthy of Darksaber because you can see that it is light for her. Bo has no problem using Darksaber because, as you said, she is focused, her mind and body are in harmony. Such perception of this scene, that Bo is worthy and Din is not, may result from a certain logical error that if a character says something, the viewer considers the words to be a fact and here is the problem. When Armorer says someone worthy can wield the Darksaber it's not a fact it's just information, information that is distorted by HER perception of the world and by what SHE believes, not the fact of how it really is. The fact is that the Darksaber is just a lightsaber, nothing more, and like any lightsaber has a crystal that senses its user to some extent exactly as you said in the video, it shows its true nature, being worthy is just something the mandalorians believe in and nothing else, it's a belief, and we know that fact does not equal faith because if something is a fact then it is a fact and no amount of belief or unbelief will change that. Worthy or not, if you achieve peace of mind and body and you are focused, you can wield the Darksaber whether you won it in battle or stole it from someone.
I'm also convinced that after Din has been purified in Living Waters, the Darksaber will become much lighter, of course he won't swing it like a Jedi Master or Bo right away, but he'll be able to at least start training with it or use it more often without fear.

In lore it seems all blades have character that is heavily derived from their original wielders and somewhat changed by successors. Seeing the first mandalore was pre high republic Jedi strength of purpose and internal harmony are both going to be very important. I'm not sure bo could have wielded the blade to help herself. I also wouldn't be surprised if Mando could wield it well to protect grogu. In general the blade probably responds better to honourable users but will obey anyone with determination and a clear goal.

Star Wars Rebels also covered similar issues with Sabine learning to use it. She struggled with it until she started dealing with the issues around The Duchess and her banishment.
In this season although Din is seeking redemption by Children of The Watch standards, his exposure to Mandalorians that believe differently such a The Night Owls and Boba Fett has caused him to start questioning his beliefs. Whether he realizes it or not he has started asking what does it mean to be a Mandalorian and The Mandalore, what is the importance of The Creed.
I'm not sure this is going completely resolve his issues with the Khyber Crystal within the Dark Saber. He needs to find his own Way for the Mudhorns, himself and Grogu, to truly understand for himself what it means to be Mandalorian as opposed to just what others say and teach. Once he comes to that realization is also when he will be able to start reuniting the different factions of Mandalorians despite their differences in doctrine and belief.
It would also be amusing if in the process of self discovery Din Djarin stumbles upon The Mask of The First Mandalore hidden millennia ago by a man both Jedi and Sith.

Lol my following post was made before watching the vid. Been seeing alot of vids on this subject and few of them were not wrong, but got near the same idea as this vid.
its about self confidence. When you are accepting of yourself, all of yourself and at balance, that is when the blade will respond to you. It is how almost all lightsabers react. When a bleed lightsaber crystal is near a Sith that is pure about being sith, it will empower him. When a Jedi is in balance with the Light side of the Force, their lightsaber will reflect this, and empower them. Moff Gideon had not problems with whom he was, and though he is evil, he is in balance with himself. Bo Katan has accepted herself, and trained with the blade, so seeing her wield it as well as a none force user can, made me so happy to see.
Din Jharin has a ways to go, but when he reaches that peak, he will be unstoppable.

Its as though she knows its heavy so she uses as much momentum to get the sabre to go where she wanted. Did she swing the sabre under the greivous bot. NO. She ran with the sabre, using her body to brace the sabre as it made its cuts. Also when she stabs the greivous bot, she utilizes it like a spear. I don't think the sabre is light for her. I think she knows how to use a heavy weapon unlike Din Djarin.

I think it works less like being sound of mind and body, and more of knowing what it is you want to DO with the darksaber, and how strongly you're focused and dedicated to that purpose. If it was the former, then someone like the Armourer, who is soundly committed in her care of the Watch members and her craft, wouldn't have any issues, yet we see in BoBF that she finds the darksaber to be quite heavy as well, probably because she has no need or want for it, so it rejects her.
Another example would be Paz Vizsla, who wanted the saber purely to reclaim the history of his clan and spite Din, and could barely get it off the ground.
Bo-katan can wield the saber properly because she knows it's history and capability and exactly what she would do with it if it once again came into her possession. She has clear goals, and even though her army and supporters abandoned her and she claims to have given up, she still has a deep conviction to retake and rebuild her homeworld, and knows what a rallying sign the darksaber is.
Right now, Din has no clear path. He wants to be redeemed and to return to serving the CotW, and to care and teach Grogu, but that's about it. This might be a product of his profession as a bounty hunter, where every target is a new challenge and you're essentially living paycheck to paycheck. I hope we'll get to see him figure out his life, maybe as Grogu becomes stronger and independent and Din doesn't have to helicopter parent him all the time.
So yeah, I don't think the ability to use the darksaber is linked to soundness of mind or anything like that. It's knowing the blade, and knowing what you want to do with it, either as a weapon, symbol, whatever.

I theorize a different reason for Din Djarin's inner conflict. I think Din is resisting against the weight of the responsibilities of wielding the Darksaber. He's resisting against the weight of the destiny the Darksaber is burdening him with.
He's so desperate to be accepted again by his clan, because they're the only Mandos who may accept him as he is. Everyone else? They see the Darksaber. Everyone can see - whatever Din Djarin is supposed to be doing with the Darksaber, he isn't doing it.
I think Bo has a more complex journey to deal with, next trying to convince Din to take up the mantle, thinking she has utterly failed and that Din is the only chance for reuniting Mandalore. And then she's going to have a crazy shock to find out her destined role to be co-leader of Mandalore alongside Din.
I think that Bo will try to help Din tame the Mythosaur, but they will fail. There's only one person who can ride the Mythosaur, and that's its mommy. The first person it saw. Bo-Katan.
It was completely random, or it was completely fate. Either way, the only reason Bo was there was her purely selfless act of helping Din in his quest - even if she didn't believe in the quest herself. But that's the key that opens up her path to her true destiny. She must overcome her selfishness ... even her justifiable need for redemption for all the things she has done or let happen.
Din unwittingly won the Darksaber because his motivation was a pure selfless act to help Grogu. Bo-Katan unwittingly "tamed" the Mythosaur because her motivation was a pure selfless act to help Din.

Really good vid. Subbed. I tend to disagree with one thing you said, though. I don't think Din is going to be able to use the Dark Saber now. At least the vibe I've gotten, is that there is more conflict in him than just showing his face to Grogu. It's subtle, but I feel like he's starting to grow disillusioned with his creed of Mando's. We saw the roots of such in S2. And the reason he's doubling down (IMO) is because he's sorta in denial. Idk

Fans often forget the fact that Kyber Crystal's are living entities with their own connection to the force, they can feel and given how all beings are connected to the force through the midichlorians it's needless to say that the crystal is attuned to those that use them. To quote Jedi Knight Caleb Dume "Energy constantly flows through the crystal, you are not fighting with a simple blade as you are directing a current of power. Your thoughts, your actions they become energy, they flow through the crystal as well and become a part of the blade".

I think Din’s undeveloped skill with the Dark Saber represents his refusal to accept the hero’s journey. At the moment Din’s focus is on restoring his place among his creed. But he hasn’t accepted his journey as Mandalore’s leader. Once he accepts this destiny he will become one with the Dark Saber. But the Dark Saber’s history has done more to divide the Mandalorian people rather than uniting them. It almost as if the Dark Saber has the power to corrupt the wielder. Bo-Katan herself seem to be more obsessed with the power that the Dark Saber represents. Rather than uniting her people. I believe there’s a reason the Dark Saber was stored away by the Jedi thousands of years ago. Is because it’s powered by a Dark crystal that gives it the appearance that it has. Tarre Vizsla full history has yet to be revealed. We may find that the Mandalorian version of Tarre Vizsla’s history is maybe romanticized to fit their warrior culture. The reality maybe that Tarre Vizsla’s history is one of corruption and betrayal of the Jedi Order of the old republic. One that would create a war against the Jedi and Mandalorians.

From a story point of view, its heavy so that the show can bring Ahsoka into an episode to train him, just like Sabine was with Kanan, Bo will probably suggest that he finds Ahsoka knowing how Sabine Wren learned...
Two things I could see happening in the show are - 1) the Armourer in the future will craft a new heavier armor for Dinn once the children of the watch support him as the new Mandalore, as his current armour is for someone of his station in the watch. 2) Bo-Katan will become a supporter of his rise to becoming Mandalore and feature more in the show..

I think they have made it subtle but also obvious that it's dins uncertainty with where he stands in his clan, his emotional baggage he has yet to fully work out that all contributes in weighing down the darksaber...bo has trained with the darksaber n has had plenty of time to work out her personal baggage if any pertaining to the darksaber use..din on the other hand has this "darksaber obligation" hanging over his head that he never wanted n got by accident, he still hadn't decided how he wants to move foward with that obligation, and on top of that he is stressed out about being a "apostate" so all those things are weighing the saber down! now that he has addressed the apostate situation, he now has to decide how he wants to deal with the whole "darksaber bearer" delimma and until he has accepted his place as the holder of the darksaber and embrace it as its "daddy" among other fatherly responsibilities, the darksaber is gonna stay stubborn n he won't be able to wield it properly. he's gotta embrace it as his own the same way embraced grogu after fighting it for so long!

There is another aspect here. Light sabers are kyber crystal weapons. They are sentient crystals in canon. If they are silicon life forms with force powers the crystal is actually telekinetically wielding itself. If Din wants to hold it or position it wrong it will push/pull in the other direction. He would perceive that as weight. If he wants to hold the blade too lower to close it will seem uncontrollably light and prone to over swing. This is the same as your psychological points. The Jedi is not just using precognition to anticipate attacks but to communicate with the saber so they are in synch. In the hands of a Mandalorian the Saber is a little more in charge. Bo Katan trained with a Jedi in the room. Mando has not. Grogu doesn't count until he can talk.

Knowing the true reason for Mando's struggle when wielding the Darksaber, it's possible that back in Season 2, Din Djarin did not struggle to wield it after when he defeated Moff Gideon, despite not getting any action from Mando using it back then. That's probably because the fact that he had a singular focus (that being rescuing Grogu). The only proof I can think of is that Din managed to hold the Darksaber with one hand as he took Gideon to Bo Katan. It was after when he removed his helmet in front of Grogu, that he began to struggle with the Darksaber, as he was worried of not only that he removed his helmet, but also possibly his concerns for Grogu.

Adegan Kyber Crystals are attuned to the force, the force is stronger with those who have conviction and it flows through all living things even if they can't feel it, Din Djarin was conflicted throughout the entire series while Bo Katan remained convinced of her own goals that's why it was easier for her to wield and why it became a symbol of Mandalore you can't be a leader without conviction

Agreed on the assessment of what makes a wielder of the Darksaber effective as its wielder and that getting his mind cleared of his guilt by bathing in the Living Waters will make wielding the Darksaber a little easier, but I would argue that there are two conflicts that Din is facing, the other being his perception that whoever wields the Darksaber rules Mandalore, a role that he still does not want (yet at least). As such, he still has another "block" in focusing his intention and purpose into the Saber because he knows where it's supposed to end up...which is interestingly the same reason Bo-Katan can wield it so easily, because her focus, despite her malaise in this season so far, is still on being the leader of the Mandalorians.

What there is to agree? That's well known fact even from the Rebels when Caleb Dume aka Kanan Jarrus explained everything to the Sabine Wren, then Armour explained and trained Din.
That's well known fact! He was explaining to us like that's something from the books and we have no idea why but it was aired last year, it was aired in the rebels but that was okay if people didn't watch it.
I'm really disappointed that he actually made video about it.
What he should do is to make connections with the Grogu and Rancor and how Grogu can establish mind connections with the beasts and that was done purposely for sure because we have seen Mythosaur and that is what he should do for example, that's something what quality UA-camr should do, to notice small things and make connections and then make a video about it and not to do this stuff that was said plenty of times, explained really well and he just repeated, tried to make connections such as "why Gideon could use even Empire doesn't use swards..." or "Bo could use easily... Blah blah" so lame.
