Lifesaver video! I spent hours in my admin panel and the (outdated) microsoft documentation figuring out how to make this work.
Glad it helped! That was my goal, keep everyone from that pain of hunting. Enjoy Copilot. 😎
Great video, perfect timing. Just picked up 5 licenses for us to try. Thank you!
Have fun! I want to hear what you do and don't find. 🥰
Thank you for this awesome video, Shane
You are awesome.
Thank you! Great video your 10 minutes saved me hours and hours!
Happy to help. Have a great day. 🐶
Thanks for the comprehensive guide, Shane! Honestly, for me, Copilot Pro is kinda too expensive for what it offers, considering there’s a lot of other available AI tools nowadays that are not only more affordable but also has better features.
I'll stick with smaller AI tools for now, like MailMaestro, Spark, Read AI, etc., at least until Copilot has better feature offerings. I like how some of these smaller AI businesses offer free trial so I actually know what I'll be paying for.
That is fair, I think it is good to know as many tools as you can so you can make decisions on what works best for you. AI is so big and changing so quick. 🤩
@@ShanesCows thats very true!
Wow, this helped a lot, thx Shane!!
Happy to help. Have a great day. 🐶
Great video, im wondering though, in our tenant we only see the 400+ dollar option for 1 single license, when the documentation says 40CAD per user per year ? I dont see an option in marketplace to purchase it for that price. I feel like i am missing something
I think it is 40CAD per user per month.
Here in the use it is 30 USD per user per month but you have to buy 12 months up front so 360USD. Hope that makes sense.
Hi Shane,
Thank you for summarizing Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365. I’m excited to know more about how Microsoft 365 Chat handles policy, security, and permissions. Could you please provide more information on this topic?
Noted. I will put that on the list.
I was so excited to see this video. That was until I noticed that I do not have a "Marketplace" option. It is also not available in the Purchase Services either. I guess I need to wait.
Probably related to your administrative privileges for Microsoft 365, Rob. Check with whoever purchases M365 licenses in your org and see if they have those options.
Try www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/business/copilot-for-microsoft-365#Howtobuy and click Sign in to add Copilot. Add a new purchase way and see if marektplace shows up.
@@ShanesCows I wonder if the issue is that I am on the E version of M365. I tried your idea and still a no go. I can wait a while and see if it shows up for me.
I'm running into the same issue. Our org is currently on the M365 Business Premium plan. @@RobFahndrich1
Hi great video! Thanks for the summary. Does this also roll out onto powerbi, powerapps and Business Central?
This doesn't effect any of those products but depending on your region you should be seeing Power Apps and Power BI copilot today. Business Central I am not sure about. This video I show Power Apps and BI an some other tools that are available today and shoudn't require any extra licenses.ua-cam.com/video/IYesgzjBAI0/v-deo.html
Hey Shane! thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Hi Shane, if we want to remove copilot we just do the opposite? Remove license from user then update license in the app itself?
Thank you very much!
Dustin I haven't been down that road so I am not sure. 😢 Let me know what you figure out.
Yeah I'm just wondering as my dad uses my account and he "have it up to here with this, I was so happy when clippy died" I don't have any argument against that. @@ShanesCows
Thx very much Shane. Its a shame for Microsoft not showing the User how to enable it. Little Problem i dont have the Update Licence Button, i have Mivrosoft 365 Business
Can you sign out and sign back in? Like I had to for Teams? That would be what I would try.
I‘ve tried everything- just to know maybe for any user - i‘ve had to uninstall Office365 with the Microsoft Tool downloaded the newewst Standalone Package and after that procedure it finally works. Now i have also the Update License button. Strange part, Word didnt update to the newest Version. Talked with the Admin and he‘s also confused, cause the Update Channel is right one for the newest Versions.
Is copilot user based or machine based? I have users that work with two or more machines and are not able to use it on their second device. When they click copilot on secondary device, nothing happens, and it won't turn on
It is User based. Did they do the license enabling steps on the second machine like the first? I use it across devices all of the time.
@ShanesCows It turned out that Office updates were blocked, and I basically had to raise a ticket and install the updates. After which I clicked "Update license" on Office apps. Copilot worked from then on!
Hi Shane
This doesn’t seem to work well at all. It worked for Word but for PowerPoint it keeps saying ‘Sorry, something went wrong. I’m working on it’ and in excel the copilot is disable (I.e. I can’t click on the icon).
I also realised I doesn’t support Arabic atm.
Any ideas? First impressions are not so good.
I think your Excel file has to be hosted in OneDrive or SharePoint to work. For PowerPoint I don't know. And sorry, I am not sure what regions it does or doesn't work for. Hope you get it going. 😎
Hey Shane,
I raised the issue with support and you’re right, files should be stored on one drive/SharePoint with auto save turned on. Another issue is it can take up to 72 hours to propagate the licenses which affects the applications on your desktop but the online version should still work.
- Excel files apparently only work with tables too.
Hey have you got access to Copilot Studio? If yes please give us a demo of that too
If you look in this video I do an intro of Copilot Studio ua-cam.com/video/IYesgzjBAI0/v-deo.html Need to do a deeper one soon though. 😎

Can you talk about the outlook firewall policies please
I haven't ran into anything yet, got any other info or hints?
@@ShanesCows How to set up the outlook policies in the Microsoft 365 admin.
There is no way that I'm switching to that new Outlook client. Just to get copilot in outlook. I find it hard to believe that Microsoft would do that.
I found in their docs that said you had to use the new client. 🙁 I don’t like it either.
Hi Shane, do you know if we can buy a copilot license for "Microsoft 365 E5 Developer"?
I am not sure. I saw e5 so I feel like that should include developer but I don’t know. 😬
@@ShanesCows I tried with my E5 Developer license but couldn't do it ... can you please let me know if you find out? Thanks
How would client update work on clients on Mac? Any thoughts ?
Not sure. I would check the faq, it may not work on Mac yet. 🙃
Do you the the link for FAQ's I'll try and dig it in as well@@ShanesCows
Sorry, I mean, do you have the link...
...but will it make a poem or fan song for your favorite Power Apps UA-camr? 😋👍
That sounds like a great test scenario. 😹
I've made the purchase, assigned the license, got the email, but there is no button in any of my office apps in the File/Account section called "Update License", I still only see "Manage Account" and "Change License". What am I doing wrong? :( I've already tried closing down all my office apps and restarting them. I've also made sure I had no Office executables running in Task Manager. Also I've double checked my Office apps are at the latest version. They are.
If you go into Word what do you see for Product Information? I see Mcrosof 365 Apps for enterprise. And to the left of all of that do you see your Microsoft 365 account, not a personal account?
Same issue for me. It says 365 for enterprise and I am signed into my business account that has the new license but that button isn’t there
Same issue also for me. It says 365 for enterprise and I am also signed into my business account that has the new license but that button isn’t there
after restarting word a few times, copilot just appeared, even with that new license button ever appearing. I am in monthly entreprise update channel
Make sure you are in the Monthly or Current Update Channel. Then update your Microsoft 365 apps.
Is it just me that doesn't get the point of all this? Like the PowerPoint is really cool and a neat 'toy' but what's the practical use? By the time I've done stylising to my company's theme and adjusting the content to be what I want it to be I might as well just have done it all myself from scratch? I tried it in Power Automate myself too and got annoyed with it and just started from scratch, much easier!
There are a lot of toy scenarios right now. They get people excited and using it so they learn. :)
I just used it to recap the meeting I was in, was spot on what we talked about. I have also used it to co-author marketing content and even an offer letter to a new employee. Once you get comfortable with it, there is a lot of value. The Toy scenarios help people get over the blank screen problem.
Im gonna AI generate an email at you giving you a piece of my mind!
"Hello, I hope this email finds you well
Firstly, [describe the specific issue in detail]. This situation is not only inconvenient but also reflects a glaring lack of professionalism and respect for your customers.
In conclusion, do better"
For powerpoint its a good template. For word it’s pretty damn revolutionary. Speeding up my work process by so much now that I don’t have to navigate menus to get the text to be exactly how i need it to be, as well as a pretty good rewriting tool when you’re almost onto an idea but can’t articulate it well.
As I work for a non-profit organisation all these extra $$$ goodies from Microsoft are pretty annoying.
Can this access my documents in the 0365 and use them as context?
YES! 🏆 Bringing the context of your whole tenant into the mix is the magic. 🤩
