Really well done reaction. I enjoyed all your comments about the song. Especially because now you've got to watch Headbanger Live @ Legend 1997 Apocalypse. The performance comes a day after Su's 16th. birthday.
The performance magic that is Babymetal really comes through in the performance. And their control of the audience is astonishing. It really is kind of required listening for anyone interested in Babymetal. You're going to love it. p.s. I'm positive I won't be the only person who recommends this performance. Looking forward to your reaction.

The spanish speaking fan base (at least in Latin America) has a pun about this song, if you don’t listen to the lyrics carefully in the part they sing “Hedobang” it sounds like “Vendo pan” which literally translates to “I sell bread” so we call this the Vendo pan song. 😂

Great reaction - and well done watching the original before any of the special birthday versions - some people get a bit ahead of themselves recommending one of those first when you really need to see the original first to see what is so special about them.
'Headbanger' is about a girl going to her first concert on her 15th birthday, but 15 is significant in Japan as compulsory education also ends, so the girl is realising life will never be the same. She is having to grow up, she will no longer be considered just a child and her first 15 years passed so quickly, so she etching this special night into her heart so she will never forget.
The neck brace is one of their tributes to classic Japanese band X Japan. The drummer, composer, pianist Yoshiki seriously damaged his neck headbanging and he needed surgery and a neck brace as a result. They have used the neck brace a lot in their lore and they have even had some concerts where everybody in the crowd had to wear one.
The red moon in the window is a hint to another of their songs 'Akatsuki' (another tribute to X Japan and their song 'Kurenai')
The girls were very impressed with the guy in white in the video - they called him Hedoban Kami (god of headbanging).
This video was recorded early in 2012. Su was 14, Yui and Moa were both 12, nearly 13.
For a live performance abr metal has a high quality video for Live at Legend 1997 (Su's 16th birthday concert in December 2013).
I will explain the other versions of 'Headbanger' from special occasions. The Legend D concert in December 2012 for Su-metal's own 15th birthday and the Legend 1997 concert for her 16th both started with a (very obviously and deliberately lip-synced) dance remix version ('Headbanger - Night of 15 Re-Mix').
At concerts on or near their own 15th birthdays in 2014 Yui (in Paris) and Moa (in Cologne) took over lead vocals for 'Headbanger' half way through when Su handed them the mic and stand - she took their place in the choreo. Only fancam videos exist for those performances.
The same thing happened in 2019 at the Legend M concert celebrating Moametal's 20th birthday. Moa once again took over lead vocals after Su handed her the mic and stand - and the lyrics were changed to "...this special night of my 20th..." as that is when you are officially an adult in Japan.
They did another special performance in March this year at the Legend MM concerts celebrating Momometal's 21st birthday we got her version on the day before her 21st (she was not an official member the year before so she did it to mark the last day when she was still 20).

There are a few more tributes made by Babymetal to X Japan! (e.g. Akatsuki).
The girls also sent a public birthday wish to Yoshiki, the X Japan's drummer, a few years back.
The way they showed their respect to the biggest Japanese rock/metal band is nice.

Nice reaction again! I was introduced to BABYMETAL with this song in 2016. In my case it was the live version from the "Legend 1997 Apocalypse" concert. "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" is a banger, period 😆 The amount of energy during the live performances is off the scale. Even more so as the crowd has its own choreo and chanting parts😉
Expect the unexpected, if it is a BABYMETAL song. MV, or performance 😉You´ll experience a lot of sursprises on your journey down the Fox Hole 😄
Good idea to travel through all the different live versions of HB! Start with the Su-Metal version from the "Legend 1997 Apocalypse" concert, pls! You´ll get the Kami Band (East) with this.

Hell yeah, dude! This is one of my favorite songs from Babymetal, and, as the title suggests, just a straight-up banger. I can't wait until you check out Momometal's special from Legend MM 2024!
Most of the male screams are done by unknown studio artists. They've also had Alissa White-Gluz (Arch Enemy) doing the harsh in the song Distortion, and Thai rapper F.Hero doing slightly harsh vocals in Pa Pa Ya, along with his rap section. And then recently.... Well, I guess you'll just have to find out for yourself 😉.
Speaking of SlipKnot, Corey Taylor and his son are big fans of Babymetal. There's a clip of Babymetal watching SlipKnot on stage from backstage (~2015 or 2016?), and Corey threw up the Fox Sign for them when he was performing. Also, Babymetal is touring South America at KnotFest right now, as we speak!
Another suggestion: *Catch Me If You Can (Budokan 2014):* SlipKnot, but cute, and at the same time, the most brutal song about hide and seek. 🤣

"Headbanger" or more properly "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" or "ヘドバンギャー! !" (Hedobangyā!!) is about a girl who attends to her first metal concert on the night of her 15th birthday and that causes a great impact on her. That is the age of the end of the compulsory school in Japan and young people have to make some relevant decisions at that point. So, this is actually about coming on age and leaving the childhood behind with a hint of nostalgia.
Not a biographical theme because this is a pretty early song and Su-metal performed it for the first time when she was only 14.
Although the general consensus is that they kill it live, this early music video is also really good. So, here are some interesting facts about it: the neckbrace is a tribute to X-Japan's drummer (pianist, founder, songwriter and soul) Yoshiki Hayashi, who got injured from headbanging violently during concerts and had to wear a neckbrace by medical prescription even while performing. The red moon in the end is another tribute to X-Japan, this time for the song "Kurenai" (meaning "red") and so is another of their songs "Akatsuki" (crimson moon).
Now, you are ready for the "regular" live version (from the show Legend 1997), Moa's version (aka "Moabanger") from Legend M and Momoko's version ("Momobanger") from Legend-MM. 😁

Basically the song is about a girl going to a conceret on the night of her 15th birthday. in Japan 15 is the age where compulsary education ends so the person has to start making some serious decisions in life. so she is basically saying goodbye to her childhood. as IAMisLove mentioned there are several special versions. You does a version around her 15th birthday. Moa has two versions, one when she was 15 and one wehn she turned 20. Momo had a verson she did on the last day of being 20, and to add something unique to her version, Momo growls.

Well Headbanger was a partbof the special birthdays for each of the girls. We know the situation, what you started with one of them, you have to do forbeach of them, otherwise they make you remember allways. It isn't hidden and as they learned after Yuis first show, you have to test every switch or thr girls get confused and collide on stage.
