It's been really interesing hearing the perspective of someone so familiar with Ireland that hasn't seen Father Ted. Normally it's a lot of American react channels exploring British and Irish shows, so this has been fun so far. Also love your accent, you sound English but with a touch of the Irish lilt :D
😂😂😂, it was a class show. Your reaction was brilliant. Fr Ted was so funny but I do remember the real Birshop Eamon Casey that had fathered the child and the new line that evolved "Wear a condom, just in Casey"
Father Ted. Part of my childhood in the 90s, part of my teens in the 2000s and part of my adulthood ever since. My family comedy, it is absolutely brilliant. I can watch it over and over, and never not laugh.
The Bishop Brennan and the son. Is inspired by an actual Irish Bishop in the early 90s. Bishop of Galway city, Eamon Casey. Had a lovechild with an american woman. Used church money to pay for the child and the womans lifestyle she had gone accustomed to. By early 90s standards it was a huge scandal. This was before the Child molestation cases
Father Ted just keeps getting better & better - Very small....far away, Pat Mustard & the hairy babies, over 75 priests 5 a side football match and much more delights to look forward to with this show!!
I've been meaning to start watching father ted just never had the time but seeing that you are reacting to it I might as well just start watching it along with you!
Eddy, thank you for this vid.....you mentioned that you studied in Athlone...you must have spent some time in Dublin...”what’s the craic...what’s the story”?.....is so Dub speak...I laughed out loud🤩
Eddy sir I so enjoy your channel and father Ted Is beyond enjoyable. Just found you this morning and am about to subscribe. Idk what other stuff you react to but it doesn’t matter. Your personality is what makes it for me. Thanks man, Mike in Florida!!
Have watched Father Ted episodes over and over again. Especially love the one when Father Ted has to kick Bishop Brennan up the arse. Its brilliant!! It's very cleaver, exposing the hypocrisy of the Catholic Church. Love that Wexford was mentioned, as my Mother was from there, and later moved to Northern Ireland, where we have great craic of course. 😂😂😂😂
haha man when I heard your accent I knew you definitely weren't pure English. I can hear little bits of Irish twang in there as well at times! I'm not far from Athlone, been there many times.
Love your accent ... I think you get the Irish humour tho' some of the jokes are difficult for an American to fully appreciate ! Historically Irish Bishops were just a little arrogant !!! We also had a bishop at the time who had a child and when it became common knowledge it created a bit of a scandal.
You live in Birmingham Eddie? You have my condolences. Actually the people of Birmingham are quite friendly and cheerful. You've got to be if you live in Birmingham or the greyness of the place would make you want to top yourself pretty quickly. You have to laugh, or else you cry, lol.
That's amazing that Athlone popped up in this episode. I'm currently planning my first trip to Ireland(I figured I should probably spend a bit of time there seeing as i'm applying for dual citizenship). My Irish Grandma was a huge fan of Father Ted when she was still around too. Our local Catholic priest looked quite a bit like Ted. Great channel by the way!
@@Eddycheeee I've been to the oldest pub in England(Nottingham I think?) and the smallest pub(my neighbouring town of Cleethorpes, it's so small, connected to a light railway), so the oldest pub in Ireland sounds good!
Honestly, i prefer animation to live action. Specifically stuff from the 90s or 2000s. When it comes to sitcoms, they usually seem to use the same types of humor and the same types of jokes. But there a select few that i like, and most unfortunately didn't last as long as id hope. Father ted is one of them.
lashing outside?you are so Irish aren't you?lol father stone my god was a bore and this show was really funny, those protestants shakes fists* down with that sort of thing lol
you said it with such a Dublin accent,I have seen you say you lived all over but when you were here it was Dublin yeah?mind you know I meant Protestant not protester🤣😅

No way 🤯😱😱
If only we could go back to the old ways
The fertility statue was my favorite part of the episode.

Don't forget the hairy Japanese bastards!
Enjoying all your reactions even more so where you lived in Ireland.
🥳🥳
It is more fun watching you watch it. Thank you.😂
True! :-)
I've been meaning to start watching father ted just never had the time but seeing that you are reacting to it I might as well just start watching it along with you!
It ran from 95 to 98 before he sadly passed otherwise there would've been another series. It's a shame Ed 👍

😂😂😂 one of the funniest episodes
The money was just resting in Ted's account.
I cant wait till you watch the episode where Ted kicks Bishop Brennan up the arse!
🥳🤩
I was in Wexford today
They couldn't get it made in Ireland, so Channel 4 made it happeñ.
not true, contrary to popular belief, Linehan and Matthews never pitched it to RTE. They went straight to CH4, presumably to target a wider audience
I lost it on the statue. lol

Lol, my sister and her husband had similar fertility symbol from holiday. Two daughters and a divorce. He was never good enough, imo. 👵🇬🇧 🤔
Personally I want my vicar to be like father Jack
🤣🤣

No offense Bishop Brennan, but if you wouldn't of said anything, the film would have died into obscurity.
😂 corny, offbeat humor...never seen b4 so thx for intro to it
It’s soo good 🤣🤣
