I bought a pristine 01' SL2 5-Speed as an extra car about a year ago and it surprised the hell out of me by quickly becoming one of my favorite cars that I've owned, even over much newer vehicles. In contrast, my first car was an 02' Cavalier that I bought in 03'. It is a night and day comparison in how much better of a car the Saturn is than the Chevy in every way, even with my Saturn reference being 23 years old.
I still have my Silver 2001 SC2 automatic that I got back in April 2000. I am happy with it and in no hurry to get a newer more complicated late model car.
I still have a 2001 SC1 automatic that my mother bought new. It has around 98K miles on it now and the only thing that doesn't work is the 1-touch down for the driver's window. I'll be 70 in a week, so it's getting a little harder to get in and out of it, but it still gets me anywhere I want to go. I am careful to remember where I put it in a parking lot though, because it can be hard to find in today's land of the giants. 😊
@@agostinodibella9939 I've replaced both lock switches. The first one shorted and triggered multiple trouble codes. When the passenger's side started feeling a little sticky, I replaced it prior to failure. Something's groaning intermittently when steering, so I'm getting that checked out next week. I'm planning on keeping it going until parts become unavailable. Hopefully, that won't be too soon.
I liked the body style of it as a kid and now I’ve started liking it again. Considering a 2000s Celica for my next car but it can make a good opponent. I’m getting rid of my CR-Z though it was pretty decent. I want a sleeker looking coupe next time.
The best 1980’s tech you could buy brand new in 2002😂

It’s unfortunate. So much potential, and GM just let early Saturn fall into obscurity.

@ I have replaced that window switch 2 times over the years, and a driver side lock switch. It only has around 78000 miles on it.

Kind of like a mini Eclipse
