- Just something I never knew could work... playing my PS3 on a computer monitor with a HDMI port... That's all that's needed! No need for the 3 color cable! Only the HDMI cable is enough!

Ah! Thanks for this video. I tried using an HDMI cable that my bro-in-law had on my PS3 to their flatscreen TV. After I brought my PS3 back home, I could not see anything, despite everything was hooked up the way it usually was. Fortunately, your video gave me the necessary info about "Auto-Detecting". Thanks!
Yes you must hold until beeps twice to order for the resolution to detect. If you don't hold the button, it will still work but the resolution won't be the best.
So what options would we have if our HDMI computer monitor does not have built in speakers?
HDMI comes with audio and video. My monitor has built in speakers.
For those who cant manage to do this, you probably have a computer with HDMI output only and not the HDMI Input that is needed.

Yes its totally clear and non blurry. Might be the quality of the HDMI cable that causes the jagged images.
turn off everything. plug in hdmi cable. turn on monitor. press and hold the ps3 power button. it will beep once.. keep holding until you hear the 2nd beep.

I have been thinking about doing this since my monitor has an HDMI port into it and like some people here it doesn't have built in speakers into it. It does, however have a audio in and audio out ports on it. If I just hook up my speakers from my PC in the audio out port will I get sound?

I have the same computer as you HP. And did you use any speakers? Or the computer has build in speakers?
Do you mind me asking what games you regularly played while using this setup? I know in the video you show FIFA being displayed flawlessly, but have you tried other games? Say CoD? Battlefield? GTA? Have you noticed a difference in quality when playing other types of games?
I ask because not all games are ported to be used at the same aspect ratio, you may have gotten lucky with FIFA but others may be different.

Hi its nice tutorial sir but in my monitor there is no built-in speaker. i am trying getting sound through bluetooth headset so display on monitor via hdmi and sound via bluetooth but not successful. i tried my 2 bluetooth headset and headphone they work well but during game no sound. during checking they work and configure well. i don't know how to get sound in this situation. please help.

Hi There! So no jagged edges and blurry? I just try to connect my x360 to my fullHD monitor (Samsung S24B350H) with 2 different HDMI cables and the menu was great but the games have jagged edges...look like 800-600.... If the PS3 doesn't do that I'm gonna try it out :)

I got a ps3 CECH3xxx(1 week old) and want to connect with HP 25xi. Mine work at first with the RCA cable connect to speaker by audio splitter. later i download the gt5 update. i just leave it dl by plug out my hdmi and put my dvi cable to the monitor which i connect to my pc. later i try to plug in back the hdmi to see the progress it go black screen.
what interesting is happen to me its that i can get output with TV with hdmi, which i tried later. then i go back to monitor go blank again. many times already i tried. also i tried the safe mode also no pop up. and also the 2 beep.
any ideas?

Ok, good video but I have a question.
suppose I have a non - built speaker monitor and I connect it via HDMI to my PS3, ok so I have the image but no sound, but now I connect a USB headset, will that work as an alternative? will it output the same sound as a monitor would?
This doesnt work guys (What I said I said in my comment), ps3 only outputs chat audio, only way is getting a female RCA to female 3.5mm jack (Or whatever type of jack you have) and pluging the AV cables of the ps3 in it, then plugging your headphones on the other side

Through this method you can record gameplays with specific programs on desktop?
It isn't routing through the actual computer, so no, you can't record or do anything on your desktop while using the ps3.

you are connecting your ps3 to your laptop? Very few laptops are able to support ps3... if it can't work means your laptop isn't compatible.

It is connected as a normal TV, by HDMI, either those monitors and LED's TVs are virtually the same thing for a pc, so it connects that easily,,,

Nothing happens... I also tried with two different HDMI cables because i thought maybe the problem is the cable... but no, nothing. I connect the HDMI in the input hole at the back of my monitor/pc and the other side in the ps3... I start it and nothing... also tried doing that 2 beeps but... nothing. What could be the problem?

You will need HDPVR 2 or Elgato Game Capture HD to capture from a console .. it's not linked to the PC its only to the monitor.. directly
your laptop needs to able to support this. not many laptops do support.

Well, in the beginning I had my PLAYSTATION 3, a CRT TV and a PC LCD Monitor. That monitor "only" has DVI connection and a Native resolution of 1440X900 (16:10 Aspect Ratio). So, back then, I would't even try to get a cable and connect my PLAYSTATION 3 to the PC LCD Monitor... what I wanted was a Full HD Display to get "the best" off of my PS3.
Later, we had a 32" 1080p Full HD SHARP Aquos (I think that was the name). I was proud to now be able to play my PLAYSTATION 3 in Full HD with some games. BUT, for some reason, many many years later, I decided to "try" my PC LCD Monitor on my PS3 and I just did say WOW! The picture quality was 1,000 times better than the Full HD TV... EASILY!!! How that was possible? What about your experience with a PC Monitor and a PS3?
