As a paramedic I’ve been in thousands of houses and apartments. If it’s a black household there is probably a 90% chance they will have a beeping smoke detector.
I found it was poor, dirty, renters. On Gov. asst., because batteries are not free.
@@DR-pw2rh we replace the batteries for them and I always ask if they hear that chirping and most of the time I just get a confused look. Occasionally I would get a “oh I haven’t gotten around to changing it” but that is the exception.

Sheetz is the only gas station I'll use anymore. It's been that way for 3 years since they opened stores in my area. I go out of my way and pass several gas stations just to go to a Sheetz. As a property manager, i can 100% tell you that the chirping smoke detector is EXCLUSIVE to the melanin heavy variety.
My neighbor is an elderly black woman and she is a great person that I help out by cutting her grass and fixing things for her around the house. She is retired lives alone and doesn't have a lot of money. A few years ago in the spring time my dog started having panic attacks in the middle of the night almost every night. We had no idea what was going on. It went on like this for weeks until one night I finally heard the beep. It was faint but recognizable. It wasn't coming from our house. I realized my neighbor was sleeping with her windows open and the beep was her smoke alarm. The next day I went over and changed the batteries in it for her. I asked how she could stand it beeping like that all hours of the night. She said she kinda just blocked it out after a while. I asked if she realized it meant the batteries were low and she admitted she didn't really know why it was beeping but just went with it lol.

My dad used to own rentals back in the 80s in a 'low economic neighborhood' and the tenants constantly removed the batteries from the smoke detectors. He had to ream the inspector a new one who was complaining they didn't work and had to explain he had no control over the tenants removing them.

Here in Canada we had a law that if a crime was committed using a firearm the convicted was to receive a mandatory term in prison. The Liberals changed that law because they found that a disproportionate amount of certain minorities were being jailed because of it.

I live two blocks away from the Sheetz corporate HQ in Altoona, Pennsylvania, where the chain was originally founded. The Sheetz Family has done so much to help our community over the years and they're an actually decent group of people who are legitimately philanthropic in the genuine and local sense of the word. And I'm also super proud that our hometown Sheetz Corp is keeping the criminals off their payroll!

I don’t watch anything on TV anymore at least from this decade. I watch stuff that’s 15, 20 or 30 years old without all the gay and black nonsense. I have it all on disk so I don’t have to watch these crazy commercials that our running today showing everyone black and queer

I went into a truck stop in Alabama, 99% of the employees are black. The truck stop had a Hardees and Subway connected. They had 4 smoke alarms beeping, throughout the store. I asked the one ginger white girl working "Does the constant beeping, bother you?" She didn't understand the question!! Pause, point and then ask again. Her eyes got really big, she didn't notice it before was her next response.
At the register, three firemen were getting cashed out as I asked the cashier if they sold 9v batteries? As I turned and smiled at the firemen....They too suddenly noticed, wish I got it on video.

The smoke detector memes are so true. We have a guy in our class online and every time he’s unmuted you hear a beep. The instructor told him several times that we could hear it and he should change his battery. He still hasn’t done it.
