Congratulations to the win today!! Here to learn from one of the best, been subbed to you for awhile and other day saw you were doing 24 at Daytona again this year and wow what a finish man! After that last yellow flag you just went into beast mode keeping 2 seconds between you and P2. Incredible stuff brother, loved it! Wish you had more broadcast time
The hard part with sim racing for me, sim racing is all visuals. I know braking and turn in patience are my weak point. I always compare it being in an actual car (I've done track time in the past). It's not the same, looking at a screen vs feeling the car and seeing actual pyshical visuals, is just two different worlds. The instructions you give are very well put.
You’re so right. It’s something that takes time. Personally, I found VR a great way to transition from real life to the sim. It gives you more depth perception.
Ha! Love that you use the string concept with steering - I started using it after a recent epiphanie; I've never reeeaaally understood "break in straight line" because obviousley that's what I'm fricken trying to do, but i was distracted by thinking of the whole car and had a hard time feeling when it was indeed straight. Then I changed it to "always break with the wheel as centered as possible" and that was so much easier to judge. Then once that clicked, to help time my trail or accel i thought of it as the wheel being "straight = 100% input, more angle = proportionally less input" then that intuitively led me to imagine strings pulling on the pedals. It has been helping me smooth out/ coordinate my hands to feet and seems effective, but I wasn't sure if it was a "good" idea or just a bridge between total noob and better techniques, mostly because I hadn't heard it before and if you watch onboards it's not really done like that, or at least very hard to tell. Anyway you've ratified my theory, thank you! PS - I've been using it to time corner exit accel too - do you you recommend that as well? do you use it as a loose guiding principle or do you very strictly follow it? thanx again! PPS - Jimmy sent me here - great channel so far!
Thanks so much to Jimmy for sending here. It’s not quite as generic as that but it’s a great starting point. When I do my one on one coaching sessions, we get into a lot more detail.
I originally learnt the 'string' technique as it related to corner exit acceleration. It's a good starting point. Interesting to see it used for trail braking also.
Thank you for helping me understand how wrong I’m braking and how to correct years of terrible braking habits. I’ve been treating every turn as a “brake late and hard as possible” often killing momentum through fast turns or trying to ask too much from the car in tight turns. Liked and Subscribed!
Great stuff man! I’ve applied this to the sim and IRL. Managing weight makes driving so much less dramatic. Keep up the great work. I must’ve watched this video 5 times.
Hey man. Just wanted to let you know. I’ve been sim racing for around 8 years, and been racing on different game systems well before that. This little video has totally improved my technique to the tune of shaving 8-12 seconds, which seems insane, off my current laps. Now this is one track and one day, but holy shit. I knew the concept of everything you’re talking about, but I dunno I guess the way you explained it just clicked. So thanks a million and you got a subscriber for life. Really like that you’re a pro GT3 driver and can use that experience to host a channel on sim racing. You will have tons of subs in the future.
That is incredible. I honestly I’ve never seen that big of an improvement or heard of it. I’m so happy to have helped. I will make a lot more information or videos that will help improve driving technique.

@@danielmorad that video helped me a lot, my legs were not in the right position, I changed that, changed my pedal position also, I’m using more of my feet to brake and accelerate now and that made me have a lot more control on trail braking and traction coming out of the corners! Thank you!
@Daniel Morad Great explanations ! Question : isn't it more correct to use "Load transfer" instead of "Weight transfer" ? I learnt the difference with that joke : "Weight transfer is when your stepmother has no seatbelt locked and you use full braking" ! So it's more load on front tires, yes, on braking but the weight of the car never changes : 1000kg car is always 1000kg in any movement of it. Am I wrong ? Thanks a lot if you answer !
That’s provided so much clarity for me after mentioning the most important part, being the balance of the car. Can’t wait to try this and hopefully find a couple tenths here and there. “Last of the late brakers” will be getting ditched. Thank you, and you’ve got another sub. Great content.

Great tips, are these breaking tips in general techniques rather than game specific? I play iRacing, ACC and Raceroom and all three are a bit different when breaking into turns.
These would be more applicable to iRacing in real life. Some of these other simulators don’t use correct, braking technique that I would consider similar to real life.
Really good channel that's appeared here! attention to detail on your videos is nice and they're very well made. The effort is obvious. Maybe some video about how traction control, or ABS should be used to adjust your driving style in disciplines, like GT, that use them? Great video and good points. I do find the music distracting and it made me go back a few times for re-caps. Fading it in and out to not overload the viewer could be a step up.
Im not so great on sweeping corners that require light trail braking but tight corners im nice and smooth this video helps me a lot understand what im doing wrong
Great video! I would have wanted to see more explanation about the tips about how to let go off braking (trail brake off). I think I go off the brakes too fast before starting to rotate the wheel for the turning point but I have trouble understanding what's the optimal target and how to figure it out other than lots of trial and error.
I’m really struggling with the Mercedes lately. I am going to focus on some of the things you mentioned. I really don’t want to give up on my beloved AMG. Thanks for the video!
Love this video! I watch it a lot to get it drilled in my head so I can apply it to the sim. Are you going to upload like a part 2 to this when it comes to throttle modulation during cornering and opening up steering on corner exit when applying full throttle?
Could you make a video showing the approximate weight distribution of each tire from the braking point to exit point? Assuming a balanced car has 25% on each tire. Thx
@Daniel Morad I am a new sub and enjoying your expertise. When learning to drive @ 14 in 1984 my Dad HAMMERED into me “NEVER touch the brake with your left foot.” Now I have to learn left foot braking in iRacing and I don’t know how to start 🙄
@@danielmorad I bit the bullet and started left foot braking. Feels really weird but I already appreciate the lack of lag when I need to brake. Bonus side effect I now realize all my clutch down-shifting has been pointless. Not taking LFB in real races yet... just AI races for now. Cheers
Great video bud. I find I focus on two main things; hitting the apex point with as much speed as possible, and getting my car position correct at that point. Other than that, I allow my braking markers and exit points to create themselves. This let me focus on keeping the car on the edge. Nice to see you spoke about balance and weight transfer, two things I think a lot of rookies forget about.
Whats up man, so the Nurburgring 24 is coming up and its going to be my first endurance event. Since you do the Daytona 24 and won it, I thought I ask you for some tips. Im mainly worried about the endurance part since I dont race for this long usually, any tips? Thanks man!
I was just learning Hokenheim in rFactor 2 and it took me some time to realize I had to brake much earlier on T1 than I thought at first, even if the corner is much faster than other ones. Your video explains that very well. The objective is to have higher exit speed, and if you brake too late, you have to slow down more to make the turn, and your exit suffers from it. However, if you are on a hair pin, you don't have a choice but to go slower on the corner, so might as well brake as late as possible. Great explanation 👌
Really good info but very collocated to get it right. Does this apply the all chassis layouts and driveline setups? Also left foot vs right foot braking?
Pro racing driver giving lesson about racing, I am listening Sir. My questions are: 1. Does your new Simcube pedals help you to go faster? Compared to older one. 2. Do you activate ABS when driving in sim racing? 3. Which one faster, ABS on or ABS off? 4. Which one faster, TC on or TC off? Your Vlog really helps me to improve, much appreciated.
Simucube pedals make me more consistent. I try not to activate the ABS too hard. ABS on and TC on but set to the correct settings is important. Glad it’s helping.
Great video mate. Just asking what’s the telemetry tool that you use for live throttle and brake tracing? Been trying to look for it but can’t seem to find it
This is going to help me a lot with T2 on Thunderhill East. I've been braking way too late and too hard and the car is upset through what should be a fast, stable corner.
I’ve found myself that I’m faster if I break softer in the faster corners but never really understood why. Now that you mention it keeping the balance more neutral or having control over the balance of the car makes perfect sense why did I not realise this earlier.
Can you do a video about downshifting when breaking. Also, which gear for corners when to downshift as the car decelerate, downshifting to get more rotation into the corner, and when to upshift when exiting the corner as you accelerate. This is what I struggle to nail down.
You might want to speak about throttle steer and breaking together All your info was spot on, but in a “purpose built” high horsepower car, throttle steer will gain significantly in lap time
It would be nice to discuss the setting of the brake physically. i.e. should it be super hard, should its distance from 0 to 100 be short or long? i use a fanatec V3 and i have problems with the correct configuration. If I'm learning trail breaking, should I let go quickly, i.e. 1s 2s or long 3-4s? If I have written something incomprehensible, I am sorry, my English is not the best. I ask because sim racing has become my hobby
Just found your channel. Great info and so well explained. I always tend to brake late and hard thinking this is the fastest way. Well...is not! Thank you!
This is really great information. I think many people try to utilize a gradual braking method but then get drilled by the people who just slam on the brakes. Definitely good to keep in mind though.
Not all the time. I think, breaking as late as possible, Narrows, the window of opportunity for you to execute proper braking technique. This is so basic but can be very helpful
I actually moved away from braking points and moved into end of braking point instead. The reason for this is that I found it easier to set the correct entry speed plus that the laps differ a bit or in race it might actually be quite drastic different. //Motorcycle world stage veteran and pro level drifting coach
Hi Daniel, love the videos. What sims would you say are most accurate to real word racing? I’ve raced karts in the past but never cars with suspension. Assetto corsa competizione, rfactor2, assetto corsa and rally games I play. Kind regards
i think my braking style has reached my skill level potential, comparing to all the aliens in ACC all my time is lost just with trail braking and or braking efficiency. i've noticed a lot that i have a hard time modulating the brake lightly and i'm hoping my new pedals give me a better feel on lower pressure.
When we’re talking about ACC, none of this really applies. If you want to maximize performance, you need it significantly different approach. I would refer to the breaking technique is more of an arcade style brake pressure.
@@danielmorad i am excited! There are not so much people out there with dbox system AND real racing experience! So that would really help a lot as most people don't know how to dial it in properly. Thanks! Subscribed!
Editing and production are top notch, but this is just scratching the surface on Beginner Braking Techniques. Advanced techniques are not even mentioned here, let alone anything considered "Mastery". I mean, the main method you describe will induce people into coasting through corners. Almost any coasting is losing time. Fully off the brake before turning in? Perhaps on a few corners, but stating it (at least as I took it) as the rule rather than the exception is confusing at best, and deceptive at worst. This video will get you through corners SAFER, but almost certainly not FASTER. Criticisms aside, I very much WANT to like your channel. Any real content us pretend drivers can get from a real one is gold. Just keep working at it.
Hi Daniel, thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge and experience with us. I’m always trying to be conscious about my braking and this helps a lot! Absolutely great video mate.
I've noticed IRL your brake pedal has quite a large travel distance, which I find interesting given a lot of sim racers use very stiff brake settings with hardly any travel. Is this a personal preference for you IRL car or a simple case of sim racers just doing what works for them and not knowing any different?
Ok i figured out my question. If my braking points are slightly different than the driver on my tail often i feel i cant brake because if i do i get punted but if i dont apply my brakes i overshoot the apex so how do i manage this? Thank you!
i love this content. so many little tips that is hard to learn without coaching. I always thought braking late was the best, but then it makes sense why sometimes a lap that feels fast, is actually slow. i do HPDE track days and sim
I always wonder if I should brake fully into the ABS at the beginning of the braking phase (e.g. 100% brake pressure) or only at the edge of the ABS system to achieve maximum braking power. If there is a typical point at which to switch (braking with ABS vs. braking without ABS) it would be good to know where it typically is (e.g., turninpoint)
You can break as hard as possible as long as you are getting the maximum rate of deceleration. If you feel like you’re breaking at 70% and slowing down at a certain rate and then try at 100%, and you break at the same rate of deceleration, there’s no need to go more than 70%.
I'm really enjoying your channel. A real GT3 racing driver doing sim racing and sharing knowledge is fantastic.

this is gold, thanks for sharing!
My pleasure!
I’ve found myself that I’m faster if I break softer in the faster corners but never really understood why. Now that you mention it keeping the balance more neutral or having control over the balance of the car makes perfect sense why did I not realise this earlier.
Exactly. Have another video coming out shortly about this topic that helps touch on this further. Also helps show examples of it.
@@danielmoradexactly what I’ve started to do since transitioning from acc to Rfactor2. Light and early for high speed particulary puohon on spa
Quick question: do you brake to downshift too or do u brake while also pressing the downshift button on the paddle shifter?
Can you do a video about downshifting when breaking. Also, which gear for corners when to downshift as the car decelerate, downshifting to get more rotation into the corner, and when to upshift when exiting the corner as you accelerate. This is what I struggle to nail down.
That’s a good idea. I can do that as a short video.
@@danielmorad thanks 😊 🙏
Can you also detail the optimum time to downshift is it when the car reaches a certain speed? I guess my question is how to downshift efficiently.
You might want to speak about throttle steer and breaking together
All your info was spot on, but in a “purpose built” high horsepower car, throttle steer will gain significantly in lap time
Amazing series!
Thanks so much
Danny decided to call my exact issues out and fix my driving haha 💪 awesome video thanks for the tips!
Haha! That’s awesome! Glad this helps you out 😁
Phenomenal driver with some solid instructions
Thanks so much
It would be nice to discuss the setting of the brake physically. i.e. should it be super hard, should its distance from 0 to 100 be short or long? i use a fanatec V3 and i have problems with the correct configuration. If I'm learning trail breaking, should I let go quickly, i.e. 1s 2s or long 3-4s?
If I have written something incomprehensible, I am sorry, my English is not the best. I ask because sim racing has become my hobby
No problem! Perhaps my video on the Simucube activepedals could help out.
@@danielmorad i just find your prifile :) i try look around :) u are fast !
Great, great video. thank you very much! loving the videos!
My pleasure
Daniel friggen Morad! Keep it up man, I love these videos!
Haha. Thanks a lot!!
Just found your channel. Great info and so well explained. I always tend to brake late and hard thinking this is the fastest way. Well...is not! Thank you!
Awesome! Glad this helps :)
This is really great information. I think many people try to utilize a gradual braking method but then get drilled by the people who just slam on the brakes.
Definitely good to keep in mind though.
Thanks a lot! For sure it sucks when others don’t know what they’re doing but if you’re faster, then they don’t get close haha
Is that a Rolex date just in a rose gold Jubilee bracelet?? if so, that's class!! 👌
It is a date just. It’s a rolesor jubilee bracelet. Thank you!
wow this is straight up Gold Thanks! 👊
Thanks a lot!!
Loving your content, thankyou.
Glad you enjoy it! Thank you so much
So in short, breaking as late as possible is high risk high reward type of a move if you can pull it off?
Not all the time. I think, breaking as late as possible, Narrows, the window of opportunity for you to execute proper braking technique. This is so basic but can be very helpful
This was so helpful. Love the content.
Glad it was helpful!
Nice Video. I left a subscription right away. I am already looking forward to the next videos.
Awesome, thank you so much!
I actually moved away from braking points and moved into end of braking point instead. The reason for this is that I found it easier to set the correct entry speed plus that the laps differ a bit or in race it might actually be quite drastic different. //Motorcycle world stage veteran and pro level drifting coach
Nice. That sounds interesting.
Amusingly the video shows catalunya..but the drawing on board reminds me of Donnington 😂....that aside, the tips are genuinely great!
I’m basically an artist lol
@Daniel Morad 🤣🤣🤣
Great contents! Thank you! 😃
My pleasure!
Hi Daniel, love the videos. What sims would you say are most accurate to real word racing? I’ve raced karts in the past but never cars with suspension. Assetto corsa competizione, rfactor2, assetto corsa and rally games I play.
Kind regards
Thanks so much! Of all the sims I’ve tried, iRacing does it best. Not all the cars are amazing, but overall, it’s the closest you’ll get.
@@danielmorad thank you for the reply mate
i think my braking style has reached my skill level potential, comparing to all the aliens in ACC all my time is lost just with trail braking and or braking efficiency. i've noticed a lot that i have a hard time modulating the brake lightly and i'm hoping my new pedals give me a better feel on lower pressure.
When we’re talking about ACC, none of this really applies. If you want to maximize performance, you need it significantly different approach. I would refer to the breaking technique is more of an arcade style brake pressure.
Thanks man ! Good info !
Glad it was helpful!
I would really love to see your dbox settings for your sims as I have it too.
Really cool videos! 😎
Coming soon! That will be in an IG Reel and YT Short video :)
@@danielmorad i am excited! There are not so much people out there with dbox system AND real racing experience! So that would really help a lot as most people don't know how to dial it in properly. Thanks! Subscribed!
Your a true gent putting in the time 👍
Thank you for watching :)
Thanks for the feedback. Will definitely continue to improve
Very helpful tips, thank you!
You're so welcome!
How does one book a coaching session with you (Sim)?
Hi Daniel, thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge and experience with us. I’m always trying to be conscious about my braking and this helps a lot! Absolutely great video mate.
Happy to help!
Thank you!
Just found your channel, this is invaluable thanks ✌🏾🙂
Awesome. Thanks for the nice feedback :)
@@danielmorad No problem. I noticed you use the Simucube pedals, you definitely have great taste. I will have to save up a long time... 😅
Are there any tracks in particular you’d use to practice this with a good mix of slow and fast corners?
Road Atlanta is one of my favs to teach at.
Thanks!
A great video! Thank you🙏 made me go a lot faster
Glad it helped!
i love this content. so many little tips that is hard to learn without coaching.
@@danielmorad Appreciate the helpful response :) Happy Easter!
