    The output of those MH1 is so clean. I wish my retros were as easy as that, because retrofitting MH1s in a halogen headlights is a whole different ball game. Great vid. Thanks for uploading.

    very nice video! btw, you should ALWAYS mount your headlights on to the car before you close them, because in most cases, rotation will be a bit off, so it's better to align it properly before you seal it, rather than opening it again and again...

    That's a fantastic job you have done, I think there might be a better way to heat the light units rather than a cardboard box and heat gun but there is no doubt about the result!

      Thanks!
      In general, 2 methods are used, with both methods, be careful and patient. Method 1 is using a regular oven. Preheat the oven at 200 degrees Celsius. When ready, switch off the oven and place the headlight inside. Make sure that the headlight is not touching any metal of the oven by placing a cloth over the grid, for example. Leave the headlight in the oven for 10-15 minutes before opening it. If the headlight kit is not yet soft enough, put the headlight in the oven for a bit more time.
      Method 2 is suitable for larger headlights that do not fit in a regular oven, or if your lovely wife absolutely does not allow car parts to be baked in her kitchen. A large cardboard box is used where hot air is blown through a heatgun. Make sure that the hot air of the heatgun does not blow directly to the headlight, place the headlight on small elevations so that the air can circulate properly through the box. We use a setting of 300 Degrees Celsius for 12-18 minutes / 1st lowest setting, depending on the size of the headlight.

    For the final product, its just the bi xenon bulb inside the housing? Are the other two reflector bulbs taken out because the bixenon functions as a high and low beam?
    Sorry if this is a silly question, its not an answer I could find explicitly stated anywhere.

    This looks great!
    So it's now a H1 bulb? Does it just run off the H7 power source or you you have to change that?

    this is a fantastic tutorial. unfortunately, i have trouble with connecting the solenoid wires coming from the projector. i have already installed Mini H1 Bi-xenon projectors in my only single stock headlights of my Toyota corolla 1998; therefore, i have know idea which part of H1 HID light should i connect the solenoid wire to.
    do i need special HID kit to operate with Bi-xenon projector?
    All you reply i will appreciate.
    thanks in advance.

    I did put h1 halogen bulb in the projector and it did not improve much from reflector one. And halogen bulb burned one of my projectors plastic that holds lens too.. Maybe it is not made for halogen bulbs since they produce a lot of heat..?

    • @Retrofitlab
      @Retrofitlab  Рік тому

      Correct, the projectors are made for HID xenon bulbs. That's why there is also no ground/- connection on the projector like normal and needed on an H1 halogen bulb base.

    Hello, what about using the projector(lens) for a triple sided led bulb, would it create a good dispersion pattern? I am modding my alfa 147 headlights and would like to apply this technique to them. My main led are really bright.. It would be more for the aestethics.. Thank you for sharing this video

    • @Retrofitlab
      @Retrofitlab  4 роки тому

      Using (most common ) LED bulbs in a projector will give a lot of dark spots in the beam pattern. 360 degree LED bulbs are the only 'suitable' solution.

    The Alfa lights must be one of the worst IMO, so this will be a perfect upgrade for the 156. But will you be able to pass inspection with a replaced low beam from reflector to projector even though you only got a std halogen H1 bulb ?

    • @Retrofitlab
      @Retrofitlab  4 роки тому

      Yes, light output will improve a lot. It depends a bit on your country and inspector.
      Normally it is no problem with a halogen bulb, because the light pattern is perfect and not blinding for oncoming traffic.

    Hello,
    As I was looking for ways to retrofit my 147's headlights I found your video.
    And I have a few questions
    1. Do you think retrofitted headlights are gonna pass the tests and won't be suspicious to the police in Czech Republic?
    2. Can I put the bixenon there where high beam light is mounted? Or even have 2 bixenons installed in one headlight?
    3. I can put the angel eyes inside to use as drl, right?
    Thanks
    Nice video!

    Hi, I have two questions:
    1- Do we need any adhesive (glue) like material for any point of the project to fix the projectors or the nut is enough?
    2- How much time do we need approximately to finish 2 headlights?

    • @trendanalist
      @trendanalist 10 років тому

      ***** Thank you very much for your quick answer :) By the way, you did not cut none of the steps to do this job, right? I am asking because I will follow the video :)

    • @trendanalist
      @trendanalist 10 років тому

      ***** wow, I have not heard about such a way to heat the headlights. It is good to learn it because I am afraid of melting them :) I am driving a 147 and planning to do the same modification in following month by watching your video. Again, thank you very much! :)

    Hi, great video, really helpful!
    I'm just curious though as I have fitted this kit and found the lights to be aimed a bit high on dipped/low beam.
    Is there anyway I can get this lower?
    I have put the manual adjustment as low as it will go.
    Thanks

    • @MarkofZollo
      @MarkofZollo 10 років тому

      ***** The rubber went on the back of the projector, was there a particular way to put it on? Was there anywhere else a rubber ring was required as I have one more (each side)?
      The projector shroud is touching the bottom of the lamp housing and not the top.

    • @MarkofZollo
      @MarkofZollo 10 років тому

      ***** I sorted this a while ago. There are two adjustment screws on the top of each headlight, I though one was for dipped beam and the other for main beam as they are separate bulbs, turns out they both adjust the whole headlight unit. I have got the beam pattern to an appropriate height to not upset an MOT tester.
      This kit is fantastic, gives an excellent beam with 4300k, very crisp and clear. It all tucks away in the headlight unit so doesn't look obviously retrofit. I didn't bother connecting the main beam so these lights just work as dipped beam but works fine. Cheers!

    • @MarkofZollo
      @MarkofZollo 10 років тому

      ***** Yes, the ballasts are just small enough to wiggle into the space around the back of the main beam lamp. The rest of the wiring tucks in too so you can put the door on the back of the unit and close it up to hide everything
