How do you pose your clients or friends? Don’t miss Jerry’s talk at B&H Depth of Field 2021! Learn more here: bhpho.to/2KOSlBx
Hello. thnaks a lot for this tips!! Thats helping a lot.
I'd turn off autofocus at your video cam btw
let's turn the question around 180 degrees - how does a photographer get him/herself to pose for pictures ? - let's face it , some of us hide behind a camera because we , ourselves are camera shy.
( some of us are great at directing , but not so good at relaxing in front of the camera )
Hi Jerry. I met you at Picture Line tonight when you was teaching on the new Z8. Great job.
After getting past the beginnings of exposure, focus, lighting, depth of field, etc., it is so helpful to have these tips for adjusting the portrait to the individual. Thank you!
Absolutely Brilliant - little things that make so much sense when you stop and think about it, but don’t realise until it is pointed out.
Thank you for this video! I’m obsessed with your work.
The do/don’t do photographs were very helpful to see. Thanks!
Your videos are great! Thank you!!

To me...the best wedding photographer in the world!!!
Thank you so much, mate!
Jerry Ghionis I'm not sucking up, Jerry! I really mean it. I only did a few family mariages and a few on demand and I wanted to do my best. I bought some books, looked at You Tube videos until you " came along" with your "posing everyone" in wedding photography. I was immediately hooked by the way you made people pose and make them look their best. It was extremely helpful and my photos came out really good. You made it look "easy"! You made me enjoy doing my weddings and I felt assured shooting! Thanks " mate"!
Damn... That image at 4:48 is NICE!!!!!!!!
Good info👍
Beautiful content!
Thanks for sharing…
Quick question, I love the how you light your face for your videos, could you share the brands and any other tips you could share in regards to lighting for videos and maybe the settings of your camera and lenses, I know said you are shooting with an 85mm, also and kind of lighting diffuser that you might be using, as well a the microphone being used on this one. Again thanks for what you are doing, keep bringing more content to your channel so we continue to learn from people like you. 👍🏼
Unfortunately, Mr. Ghionis did not list any specifics about his lighting setup or his audio setup used in the above UA-cam video. However, from viewing the video and viewing the Gear section under the "About" tab on his website, he does indicate that the continuous lighting he normally uses is the Westcott Ice Light 2 and the Westcott Flex, and the reflector he uses is the Westcott Omega Reflector 360 (40").
.
Although I cannot guarantee that is what is being used in the above video, from viewing the lighting on his face, it appears he is using two rim lights behind him as accent lighting, one on each side of the camera. It also appears he has his main light set up to camera right. He may either be using a fill light or simply using a reflector board on camera left to fill in the shadows on his face. The light pattern on his face does not appear to have strong contrast, but there is a difference between the main light side and the shadow side, so he may be using a small lighting ratio such as a 1:2 ratio between the main light and the fill light (as it is not as flat as a 1:1 light ratio).
.
While I would recommend contacting B&H either via e-mail or via Live Chat to discuss options about lighting and audio equipment to achieve a particular look, if you specifically are inquiring about Mr. Ghionis' setup for his UA-cam videos, I would recommend reaching out to him via e-mail or the Contact form on his website.
.
you are good sir.
Thanks, that's great info really well presented. I usually photograph wildlife, who don't provide much feedback, so am a bit baffled as to how to make humans happy with their portraits.
Good point! If only we could all be as confident as the wildlife you photograph, hey? I've never met a flamingo that complained about its feathers looking too heavy! lol
I am struggling with taking photos of people with glasses. Any yousful hint
By the way. Thank you for this wonderful video
sensacional
Thumbs up!!! You're a great teacher.
6:49 A técnica de esconder uma orelha é traída pela sombra na parede.
É sempre bom conhecer esses métodos, pois a pessoa fotografada pode pedi-lo ao fotógrafo caso não se sinta em paz com a própria aparência.
Welcome to the 5 head club.
Thank you! lol
The best tips are always statements of the obvious - that isn’t, until somebody tells you. Thank you.
who would have thought that diplomacy would be counted as part of a photographers skills ? - video filed to favourites
I'm glad you enjoyed it.
00:06 "Challenging features" - I don't know why that had me laughing so hard :D

Ok, I understand, sometimes clients ask to avoid some imperfections that they may have, but in the end, in my personal opinion, you have to stop trying to have the perfect model or the perfect face; not all humans have the ideal proportion;
Let's embrace the differences of the models, stop selling the idea that all faces have to be perfect or symmetrical, or in photoshop retouching to make a face's proportions perfect. People should see that the models also have flaws; anyone can look good in a photo. As photographers, our job is to make the lighting, composition, and most importantly, the essence of the model show off; the goal it's to capture the moment, the emotion of the person... anyway, I also appreciate these tutorials. They are good, but we must stop the trends from making everything perfect or hiding the imperfections.
I am a disciple of Ghionis.
He is of the best if he is not the best!!!!!!

It's funny listening to a man talk about lighting whose skin is reflecting the green screen due to poor lighting for video recording. Still good advice, but I find the green leak to be distracting.
Love you Jerry, but your neck beard looks yellow.
What's wrong with female squeezing her ears 👂
This guy could care less about the couple wanting a videographer and the money spent on the service. Speaking from experience. Walked in front of the lens in 50% of the shots. Silly for just a still image.
This was excellent!
