    I loved your video. My fiddle leaf is about 57" tall its one stem and has leaves all the way to the bottom. The leaves are huge and healthy but the bottom ones actually overhang the pot. If I had to describe it I would say it looks like a giant beanstalk. For it to look like a tree besides branching wouldn't i have to remove many of the bottom leaves? So that you could see the trunk?

    I have a FLF that is now 7 feet tall and falling over, it doesn’t have a lot of branching in the lower 5 feet. Even though it has outgrown the pot, it continues to grow bushier At the top and grow tall. I feel like if I cut it in half to depot just the top it might die. I’m wonder what the best approach is? The trunk is actually quiet thin still as well. Should I do this approach and then repot the branches?

    • @FiddleLeafFigPlant
      @FiddleLeafFigPlant  Рік тому

      Yes, over time, you can remove bottom leaves to create the trunk of your tree. Just remember not to remove more than 10% of the total amount of leaves at one time so your plant does not go into shock.

    Hi Meg, love your videos! I come here often for tips on my fiddle leaf fig! I'm wondering if I should pinch off new growth so that my tree will give energy to other new growth that I want to focus on. I've got a bunch of little leaf buds showing up but I only want some of them to grow big. If I pinch off some of the new growth, will that just give more nutrients/energy to the new leaves that I want to focus on?

    • @FiddleLeafFigPlant
      @FiddleLeafFigPlant  4 роки тому +2

      Yes, that should work. You may find more growth popping up, but properly pruning / pinching can help you achieve your desired look for your fiddle leaf fig.

    I bought a tall fiddle, about 8ft, single stalk. It went into shock and dropped most of its leaves, it’s almost just a tall stick aside for some perky leaves at the very top. What can I do to rehabilitate it? I’m sure cutting the top off would just kill it since it doesn’t have leaves at the bottom to absorb the sun...

      @@odd-one-out4409 I put the it under shade outside and it’s doing better now when I moved even further back in the shade. There is some new growth, miraculously from one of the branches - some baby leaves. Ofc it’s still sparse. Aside from watering and occasionally shaking the trunk for strength, I haven’t touched it for fear of putting it further into shock.

    • @FiddleLeafFigPlant
      @FiddleLeafFigPlant  3 роки тому +3

      Yes you can, and it is sort of air layering. Here is a resource on that: monsteraplantresource.com/monstera-propagation-via-air-layering/#:~:text=Air%20layering%20is%20a%20process,months%20in%20water%20to%20root.
      Basically you would air layer it but not remove the section to make a new plant, but just let it grow.

    My fiddle leaf had two branches forming a y-shape starting from the base of the tree-but I wanted a single trunk, so I cut the smaller one off and propagated it.
    The main tree I have left did not develop any leaves on the side where the second branch was, maybe from crowding?
    Anyway, my fiddle leaf is all bald on one side. Is there a way to grow leaves *only* and not full branches?
    I would like a single trunk but full leaves from top to bottom.
    Thanks, if you see this.

    I purchased a fiddle from a big box store and they already cut off the top stem so it branched from there. I have an awkward side branch that’s going to make it lean one direction if I don’t create a new branch. Will this stunt the main “trunks” growth? Would you recommend the same “notching” method in this instance?

    so I notched too much (cut way too much) and now my the place where I notched is close to breaking off... will the new growth still come out of there or is the place I notched / cut the tree just done for?! :(

    • @givemefreedom2359
      @givemefreedom2359 4 роки тому +1

      I would suggest that you just cut that piece all the way off and start you a second tree. It is not difficult and you will end up with two trees. Take the piece you cut and simply dip it in a rooting hormone and put it in water. My topper was cut off a tree from Home Depot (by the employee). I brought it home and dipped it in hormone and stuck it in a flower vase. I made sure not to use city water so I wasn't feeding it with fluoride and /or chlorine. I stuck mine under a full spectrum grow light but that is not necessary, it just boosts the process. It took a while to root. But when it starts to happen, you'll see a lot of little white dots on the stem that will become roots. The rest of the tree will continue growing and you can choose how you'd like it shaped. In the end, what have you got to lose?!
      Good luck!

      It will bounce back! Check your soil to make sure it is draining properly out the bottom drainage holes. Water when the top inches of soil are dry and the plant needs to be sitting directly in front of an up against your brightest window.
