When you believe in a Sovereign God you realize there are no coincidences; I found this Pastor on UA-cam week/2 weeks ago. Finally the absolute truth !!
Yes! After I had watched a few of his sermons on UA-cam my daughter, grandkids, and I were parking the car at Target. I just happened to notice a bumper sticker that read “www.GTY.org I mentioned it to daughter and said Oh it’s probably some awful leftwing thing (we live in Minnesota). When we got inside unbeknownst to me she looked it up online and said to me, as I was heading to a different part of the store, “Grace to you!” I stopped dead in my tracks. I had known that phrase because some of the videos I watched were on there. I said WHAT?! Lol. She said, that’s what the bumpersticker was about. It’s some guy named John MacArthur...? I was gobsmacked. Never had I seen that bumpersticker or even heard of Grace to You until I’d seen those videos on YT. It just felt like a big nudge in that direction. 🤔🥰
Pastor John MacArthur has really made me ? My faith and he has changed my life his sound theology has changed my understanding of Gods sovereignty and to understanding the fear of God (Proverbs 9:10 ) (proverbs 8:13)I was so broken for my sins and conviction. I have come to understand how I believe in Christ alone and he is the way the truth and the life. I now have a board understanding of the doctrine of original sin, sanctification, total depravity , soteriology and Justification. I now I hunger for God’s righteous word and I’m not spiritually dead and all because of God Grace and his gift of Faith alone through Jesus Christ.
God Bless this old saint, i remember YEARS ago at a Q&A someone asked Dr. MacArthur how they should pray for him, he said something to the effect "pray i finnish well" i loved that. Humble man, wants to honor his God with a good finnish! I am praying for you Pastor! God used your radio ministry to lead me to salvation! im forever grateful to your ministry!
@Samwell Patricia, his wife, keeps him humble. He mentions her now and again. She must be one awesome good woman. I don't know her, I have heard him speak of her, only. Go to gracetoyou channel on youtube.
@JESUS CHRIST is King of Kings How many times is that brought up by people? I don't know when he said this and I don't agree with it at all. But many good teachers err in one or two points, but a false teacher is someone consistently teaching false doctrines in practically every area. Read Romans 16:17-18, 1 Timothy 6:3-5, 2 Timothy 4:3-4, 2 Peter 2, and Jude about the consistent signs of a false teacher. Just bringing up one point of contention doesn't make a person a rank heretic. Do you judge your own understanding and application of scripture by the same standard you judge Dr. MacArthur? Do you have every single doctrine in the scriptures correct yourself?
Dr. MacArthur's doctrinal purity is always a breath of fresh air. He is most concerned with exposing perversions of Truth by preaching and teaching God's word regardless of how it's received, and for that I feel grateful.
God bless John MacArthur and our Lord Jesus Christ who gave him the gift for teaching. Had it not been for John and the conviction of the Holy Spirit through the Word of truth that was rightly handled by this man of God, I would continued wasting away in my former, errant, blasphemous seeker church. Thank you John, most of all thank you Jesus. I was blind but now I see.
Mike P praise God Mike that’s encouraging to hear. When I got saved several years ago I wasn’t in a church and watched John MacArthur quite frequently.
@Pk Amponn Pk Amponn Good question. I had spent many years scouring the Scripture for instructions on "how to get "born-again", "again", after having lost salvation. So, I understand the fear involved as this question was not a theological "gotcha" question to myself, but a terror for my eternal soul. I can assure you that the amount of time studying Scripture and knowing Who God is and when, how, and by Who salvation has been secured are worthy of getting an answer too. Call them on their 24/7 line, please. I am always ready to explain via e-mail if you or anyone believes that "being saved=not making it to heaven" I'm not being sarcastic, but, that, ultimately, is the bald statement of fact: if a person goes to hell, by definition, that person was never saved from hell at any time. I think most people question is if they can be assured that they have been made alive in Christ by the act of God determined before Time itself was created by the Creator God=Father, Son, Holy Spirit via election. Please call. Really. Don't let this go unanswered as did I for many years. Honestly, I am suspicious of people who have told me I can "lose" Eternal life, as I am 100% convinced that if I could lose my salvation, become un-born-again unto eternal life, then I would lose heaven. If it's based on me making myself sinless in this mortal body, during this time in the flesh, I'm doomed to hell. God knows, my deepest new desires are to overcome all that dishonors Him and daily repent. gift.ligonier.org/1117/final-word
@Pk Amponn May I suggest reading John 6:35-44 and 10:24-30. Jesus makes it clear for us that salvation and forgiveness of our sins is indeed permanent. 2 Corinthians 5:21 and Romans 4:20-25 show us that on the cross, our sins were credited to (imputed to, counted unto) Christ, and the righteousness of God was credited/imputed to us. All of our sins were placed on Him at Calvary. We are meant to grow in the knowledge and the grace of Christ (2 Peter 3:17), but we may sin along the way. 1 John 1:8 - 2:2 is helpful to know we can receive forgiveness for our present sins, as well. Much grace and peace to you!
@Sage of Synergism stop carry picking and start listening to the Holy Ghost... Satan will always help you to stay on the negative, in case you haven't noticed. The Holy Spirit is the teacher and will help you see pass the maze which Satan is constantly constructing.
Sundown Sam I agree. As a preacher and teacher of the word myself I understand that no one person contains full knowledge of all scriptures. It’s great when we can band together as brothers in the Lord and share things in a bold yet loving way. Thanks so much for taking time to share this with me. As teacher and preacher it will give me something to study I may have missed. It’s why we need to be obedient to the Holy Spirit and band together as Men ordained by God to teach. So thanks for sharing. May the Lord bless and keep you and I will look into this scripture. I haven’t paid close attention to his take on this scripture. Give me time stamp on this video where he states his view on the scripture and also send me again the scriptures references. I will do some homework on this concern you have shared. I am still thankful for men like this regardless of the imperfection in there speech and our limited human knowledge which he says all the time in other interviews. Sometimes he says he doesn’t know. Which I admire a man that says he doesn’t know. Not so much them man that claims to know all. Them I am careful of. You have to remember we are all imperfect and no one person has full revelation of the scriptures because our human minds are so limited. Almost as if God designed it that way with mysteries to make us band together as men of God to learn from each other through the Holy Spirit. Maybe in time he’ll either have your understanding or you’ll have his based on what the actually text is saying and what scriptures is saying as whole from genesis to revelation. In my experience knowing everything from genesis to revelation helps me to understand all texts better. Meaning the over all context of the word. I am still happy there is a life like him. Very few men like this still alive regardless of theological differences we share. May the Lord bless you and keep you. Sincerely, Christopher
Joseph Post Agree. And their doctrinal soundness and beauty makes them so valuable and precious when one is passing through the valley of the shadow ofdeath.
God bless John MacArthur for his faithful biblical expository teaching ! He has served our KING well. He has walked the narrow path that I strive to walk.
I'm trying to keep up with answering the questions with Pastor John and I'm somewhat surprised that I was able to keep up fairly well answering. After six years of listening to Pastor John MacArthur sometimes several times a day I've learned quite a bit about God's Will and scripture. I'm very thankful for Pastor John MacArthur and other great Biblical Scholars like Pastor Chuck Missler and Pastor Derek Prince and Pastor Leonard Ravenhill as well as Pastor R.C. Sproul, Pastor Voddie, Pastor Paul Washer, Pastor Carter Conlon and others. I can't get enough of the word of God and through all these wonderful Pastors and Biblical Scholars I've increased my knowledge exponentially but I must admit I do need to open my Bible more. Praise be to God🙏
Praise God for Grace To You and John MacArthur's other ministries!! The LORD has used him in an incredible way to deepen my faith in Our Lord Jesus Christ and my reverence of the Scriptures. Thanks for being faithful to your calling, Johnny Mac!
I havent listened to this one yet. Sproul said something like, "You can't choose what you don't want..." on the 'illusion of free will,' in my own words. Sproul also suggested "people are free, but God is more free."
I agree, Brent. Free will can rightly be defined as doing whatever you want to sin. In fact, doing whatever a sinner wants would naturally be sinful. There is a misconception that man's will is "free" without any influence or desire. No one has that type of will. Sinful mankind will always choose the thing they desire, love, or think is profitable; and all those things are sinful. Sinful mankind will never choose God in their own nature because Jesus said the sinful world hates Him, God the Father, and Christians in John 15:18-23. Romans 8:5-8 shows that the carnal mind is hostile against God so they can't please God in their sinful flesh. Jesus said no one can come to Him unless the Father draws them in John 6:44. And when Jesus was asked by His disciples, who then can be saved, Jesus told them with man it is impossible in Matthew 19:26 and Luke 18:27. The Bible never describes man's will in terms of being autonomously free; this is particularly true when it comes to sinful man choosing God. In addition, I've asked Christians two questions when they bring up free will. First one is, if mankind has free will to choose Christ in their own ability, do they have the same free will to leave Christ and not return? Second, did Nebuchadnezzar become like an animal of his own free will in Daniel 4:32-33? If the answer to both questions is yes, then that answer to the first question makes John 8:27-30 a lie, and that answer to the second question makes Daniel 4:34-35 a lie.
@Pk Amponn Please specifically point to the verse in 1 Corinthians that defines free will in a declarative way. Luke 7:30 doesn't prove a will that is free, but a will that does what it wants; to sin; that is why the Pharisees did all the things they did. They were bound by their sin nature in a self-righteous manner, which is the reason Jesus denounces them brutally in Matthew 23. As for 2 Peter 3:9, so many Christians quote the last part of that verse to "refute" a particular atonement, but they don't quote the whole verse in its context. The words "any" and "all" are known as indirect pronouns. Many times they will refer back to another pronoun in the same or previous sentence. To understand the "any" and the "all," you have to quote the whole verse, which says, "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering towards us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." The pronoun in this verse is "us-ward," which refers to believers. If you follow the context of 2 Peter 3:1-9, you will know the pronouns are dictated by noun titles. Verse 1 says beloved, which are believers, so the pronouns speak of believers in verses 1-2. Verse 3 gives us the noun of "scoffers," which mean every pronoun from verses 3-7 refers to them (and the scoffers are unbelievers). Verse 8 begins, "But, beloved..." showing us that now the noun are believers again, so the "us-ward" in verse 9 pertains to them, and the indefinite pronouns refers back to the antecedent "us-ward." These are the rules of grammar and context. 2 Peter 3:9 must be taken as a whole statement in its context; God isn't willing that any believers (or ones that believe) should perish, but that all of them should come to repentance. If "us-ward" was "everyone that dwells upon the earth" or "all that ever lived" then you could interpret it in the way you are asserting, but as the verse stands, you can't interpret it that way. Christians many times will quote part of verses or quote verses out of context to make a theological point. Though their motives may be sincere, we can't misquote the Bible because it is God-breathed and sufficient for all believers (2 Timothy 3:16-17) that we must study rightly (2 Timothy 2:15). We would never take sentences or paragraphs out of context in every day writing, so we certainly shouldn't do it with God's holy Word.
Thank you so much for this forum Ligonier and thank you John MAC Arthur for your dedication to giving us the deep means of the gospel and the whole Bible.
This was so incredible! I am filled with awe and deep appreciation for the clarity of Dr. MacArthur‘s answers! It is like sitting in a first class lecture at a top address, namely God‘s university! Thank you Ligoniers for making this possible! Grace and blessings to you!
John MacArthur's arsenal of Spiritual Weaponry is deadly to the forces of darkness. I hope one day i will be able to quote those verses from the Bible in nano seconds.
Excellent session! I continue to learn and grow in my faith because of the truth taught by men like John MacArthur. All love and praise to our sovereign Lord!
I believe that the gifts of the Spirit are for today and I love my brother, John MacArthur. Such a faithful teacher in many areas. Obviously, I disagree with his stance on the gifts of the Spirit, but his exegetical teaching has been a blessing to me for years and has helped challenge me to grow and learn.
@Pk Amponn if by never losing salvation, you mean that once one has been genuinely born again, they can't be snatched from the hand of God just as it says in John 10:28-29, then yes. If by limited atonement, you mean that the atonement of Christ is only attributed to those who believe and trust in Him just as it says in John 3:16, then yes. God's work in us for salvation is sure and unchanging, and Christ's sacrifice is not attributed to those who don't believe in Him. I also believe in the doctrine of original sin that communicates that our will is that of a fallen creature that cannot choose Him without the regeneration of God just as Jesus says in John 3:3 and just as Paul says in Ephesians 2:1-10.
thanks John, wonderful answers for everyone ( saved and unsaved) alike. Keep up the great work and dont stop learning as well as dont stop preaching. We ARE living in the last times now i beleive and we need you more than ever at this time....
Pastor McArthur, you are wrong! God has gifted the contemporary world with amazingly faithful giants of the Word like you, RC Sproul and many others. Future believers will read your biography in awe. Thank you for your integrity and dedication to showing millions the right path. You are a blessing!
I appreciate John MacArthur's ministry and his love for God's Word. He epitomizes 2 Timothy 4:2; he preaches the Word in season and out. I doubt everyone will agree with everything he says, but I have always found his teaching and preaching consistent and in line with God's Word. And I totally agree with what he said about God's sovereignty at around 44:25; once God illuminates you about that truth you do see it all over scripture. That is what happened to both my wife and me.
I loved how he explained about ‘aborted babies going to heaven’ or any child who dies from David’s experience. Deep wisdom there. Thank you Dr. MacArthur.
Sage of Synergism Jan Hus said that if a person is not predestined for Heaven, they will grow old enough to have the mental capacity to reject God before they die.
This is the teachings and preaching we have lost today. This is why the early church was so willingly went to the their death without a weaver. They knew the truth about what it cost God to save us in Jesus Christ our Savior. We now love to listen to feel good teaching without any thing that will produce any convection in us for repentance and fear of Almighty God.
The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom but not the end of it. John tells us that ultimately, God is love and if you have fear in you then you haven't been perfected by love because fear has to do with punishment. The more I know God, the more I love Him and don't fear Him.
I wrote a book, regarding my first 49 yrs. being here on earth. Very lost in much of its darkest, darkness. While writing this book, I can tell you this, I used Bible scriptures to back up my examples of how Not too live life without knowing and obeying God, as I did. God loves me so much I know this now. He's come alive through me, yes hallelujah, living and coming out through my testimony(s). I've since been forever trying to self publish it, but it's been a me thing, up until about 1 yr ago, when I came to the full conviction that it's Not what I can do... It's what God is doing through me and for me. Amen. Oh yeah, I'm starting another book, as of 2 days ago. God, is Always Good!! It was I who didn't Get It, until I was in my late 40's. I'm now 59 yrs. young! Praise the Lord our Father God and His Son, Jesus Christ and too our comforter the Holy Spirit. Amen! Oh, John MacArthur? God bless you, I'm coming to Sun Valley to see you, too worship with you and your church. This is also, of the Holy Spirit's prompting. An answered prayer. Hopefully I'll be able to tell you about it someday soon.

Thank you for this great Q&A that clarified a lot of gray areas. May God bless Ligonier ministry and Grace to you ministry for always sharing a true biblical teaching of the Word of God.
I so appreciate your answer to worshiping with reverence and awe. The whipped into a frenzy “worship” I’ve experienced does not compare to the deep reverence I experience in a quiet hymn of worship...
Amen! " It isnt the perfection of your salvation but the direction . It is in the direction of love, humility, and righteousness. You will love the LORD. You will love the scriptures. You will love the church. You will love the lost. You will not be proud, brash, boastful, self exalting. You will possess a sweet brokenness. "
Thank you for having the time to just answer so many questions. I really love all your nonfiction books especially I Believe in Jesus and your treatment of Psalm 110 in your expository writings
I thought for sure when I clicked on this it would have tons of dislikes from egalitarian feminists who were upset... But it has zero dislikes and almost 300 likes. J Mac is a beast.
Anyone else notice the quick reference to Mrs. Moore and teachers like her when he cautioned about those who say, "Jesus told me...?" Unless it is in Scripture, that should be a huge red flag.
@Pk Amponn except a few verses later Paul qualifies the "all" as men. 1 Corinthians 14:34 - "the women should keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be in submission, as the Law also says." 😊
thanks a lot for this moment than you give us. i´m seeing it from Veracruz, México. I don´t can speak inglish very well, but i have undestood a few but is so greater. God Bless you!
44:48. In response to does God give people free will? He states that no, we are not given the free will to get out of sin, but we must "cry for the mercy and grace of God to extract you by his own sovereign love and power." Now wait a minute....that sounds a lot like someone making a choice. The salvation is a gift, yes. And it is not earned, of course. But according to Dr. MacArthur's own words, a person can indeed ask for it or choose to receive it. That is free will.
I was only able to hear less than 2 seconds of it before it was cut off....but what I heard was beautiful! There is an app you can get for your smart phone, where you hold it near the music (speaker) and it will tell you what the song is. My hubby has it on his phone. Not sure if 2 seconds is long enough tho....
I know I'm coming in a bit late, but my question is this... ... Is it ok to keep praying and asking God for the same thing.? I'm confused because of hearing different viewpoints regarding it. I do ask God humbly, for His help with the same issues until I hear in my heart not too and to move on. Other times, I pray continual for answers for what I feel are urgent biblical needs. I can't go through the day without Jesus, I talk to God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit all the time. I've stop talking to myself and waiting for those answers. God has me now, I hope, I truly Got It finally, for the Glory of God! Amen.
Wow we all need to scrutinize the scripture everyday so we can know the Lord! Only his word can change us by the power of the HolySpirit who inspired the word of God
At mark 30... limited atonement - nope. It’s Biblical that in Gods sovereign plan He made a way for all and by His decree He will save whoever responds to His gracious invitation. This ability of man to respond to His free gift is not “deeply disturbing “ by any means but consistent with the whole body of the Scriptures. God warns. He pleads. He rewards. He offers. These are all genuine - His words are truth and His offer is to all. What a wonderful Saviour! 1 john 2:2
This was wonderful. Thanks so much for putting the timestamps on questions. I only opened it at the end, but will make it easy to revisit. Curious how long the interviewer (Nathan?) has been in the US -- his accent has slight American Rs slipping in.
I totally agree with regards to hymns, and I think MacArthur could be 1 of the 2 witnesses, he answers with truth unafraid of what people think, he stands in truth and strength
Earnest questions: 1. Why does Mr. MacArthur teach that God is a trinity of co-equal persons, which are all equally God, when the Bible says that there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus? 2. A. Why does he teach that baptism does not save you, when the Bible says that it does, and that it is for the remission of sins, and that it is how our sins are washed away? B. If he believes, contrary to the Bible, that baptism is not for the remission of sins, then how does he imagine that the sins of men may be remitted? 3. Why does he believe that he has the Holy Ghost, when he has never spoken in other tongues?
TheWordprophet 1. The bible teaches there is One God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are all called God in the bible. Isaiah 9 v 6 John 1 v 1 Acts 5 v 3&4 John 20 v 30 Ep 4 v 30 Jesus is refereed to as a mediator, high priest, Son of God , Son of Man, last Adam and God. One cannot pick and choose verses in isolation but understand context, in verse, in chapter, book and the entire bible. 2. Ep 2 8 & 9 Titus 3 v 5 Romans 3 v 24 We are saved through Grace alone by faith alone. 4. 1 Corinthians 12 v 29. Even if you hold to a view that the Gifts of the Spirit are all still for today, there is nowhere in scripture that says tounges are needed for salvation. Romans 8 v 9 a believer is one who has been saved by grace and has had a circumcision of the heart by the Spirit, who live in them. They have died to sin and been raised to life in Spirit
Given Dr. MacArthur’s categorical-sounding comment about aborted babies going to heaven, I have a question about election. Is he saying that all babies are elected?
That's a great question. I love MacArthur's teaching but have a problem with Calvinism's limited atonement theology and that question poses another problem for it. Just as the great commission is to go into all the world to preach the gospel. Gospel means good news. How is it good news to tell people that most of them are going to Hell because Jesus didn't die for their sins? Calvinism creates a lot more questions than it answers. Jesus dying for the sins of the world (as it's written) solves those problems. He paid for all, has the authority to forgive and allows us the choice. Then it's really good news for the world and a much greater work done on the cross.
Trucker_Pete amen. If you’d like further biblical foundations to put teeth to what you already know from the clear word of scripture, check out Leighton Flowers and Beyond the Fundamentals on UA-cam.
If God created me, and I was born a sinner, then didn't God create me to be a sinner? And if He did that, then why does He condemn me for being what he made me to be? Seems like I never had a chance.
No, God didn't create Adam as a sinner. Man became a sinner by Adam's sin where we then had knowledge of good and evil. It's our free will that decides whether we will willfully sin or not.
Well, if you die in your sins, He is just in judging you and damning you to hell. You will die, and we, true believers, will rejoice because has rid the earth of another wretched sinner. Read Revelations. The good news is God saves those very same wretched sinners. Repent, trust, and believe the Gospel. Call upon the name of the Lord and be saved.
Sorry I missed it, as I have a question for Dr. MacArthur that has "eaten me alive" a long time. Perhaps I'll email him. Thank you for your presentation. Very good..I looked for it last night on You Tube, and now I see it was on Twitter. Well? Great job anyway, and God bless you all for sharing this on video.
At 20:15, how can it be said that "any baby who dies goes into the presence of the Lord?" Does that not contradict God's eternal decree of unconditional election, and make salvation dependent upon the age of death?
@@samkazee3417 I agree. That's why R.C. Sproul's book, "Truths We Confess," in commenting on the Westminster Confession of Faith, Chapter 10:3 is so confusing... Sproul said that the children of elect parents are themselves elect and saved. Robert Godfrey made a similar comment in his book "Saving the Reformation" in commenting on the Canons of Dort, Article 17. The problem is that if the children of elect parent are themselves elect and saved, then their election was CONDITIONED upon the elect status of their parents, and not only this, but we all know of the children of godly parents who grew up to hate God, so that means that at some point in the child's life, he LOST his election and salvation. In MacArthur's comment, he is of the mindset that ALL infants who die in infancy are elect and saved. Well, this too means that their election was CONDITIONAL, based upon the individual's age. It would seem to me that in an effort to be pastoral, they are not accepting that God has total freedom in His election, that God has the same freedom in electing individuals to salvation regarding infants as He does regarding adults, and nowhere in scripture so we see that God elects every infant simply because they are infants. If that WERE the case, then abortion would be the single greatest Heaven-filling means ever devised by men.
@@lawrencestanley8989 i think Mohler made a similar comment on his daily The Briefing today about that heaven filling. Also and very briefly i think, as an unlearned amateur, not every Christian agrees about generational election and baptism in that same context, like circumcision.
I miss RC Sproul's spirit...it would've been great to hear John MacArthur and RC discussing/debating the merits of the book "The Parousia" (J.Stuart Russell)
Whether this man (MacArthur) is famous or not, rich or poor, he doesn't know the Scriptures. He is twisting them to fit his own agenda. From 11:45 "... it doesn't define the all, we know the all is the elect " Yet the Scriptures tell otherwise. "And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world." - 1 John 2:2 (NKJV) "that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation." - 2 Corinthians 5:19 (NKJV) "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance." - 2 Peter 3:9 (NKJV)
#Ask Ligonier my name is Nikhil and i am Christian from india, can you please explain me what is Jude saying the in this epistle of Jude verse 14, why he is quoting from apocrypha??
OUTSTANDING! WOKE UP TO THIS VIDEO TODAY! AWESOME! And I just love when Dr. MacArthur wakes me up to the reality that, I have a free will and God gives me the choice...to pick which sin I practice...Oh, LORD! John MacArthur is to blame! He made me laugh...lol... THANK GOD THAT JESUS CHRIST MADE IT POSSIBLE FOR US TO LAUGH ABOUT SUCH UTTERLY AWFUL CONDITION, WHICH IS TO BE ONE WHO CAN’T HELP HIMSELF/HERSELF BUT TO SIN AGAINST ALMIGHTY GOD! ...OH...BUT JESUS! I LOVE THESE TWO WORDS: BUT JESUS CAME AND DIED FOR WRETCHED, ONCE HOPELESS AND BLIND SINFUL WOMAN LIKE ME! Thank you, Dr. MacArthur for making me laugh this morning. I went like “Hey, I have a free will!” And then I went “Oh...yes, you gotta a point...I can’t help but remain within this wretched sinful body of mine...hey, at least we still get to choose, right? Within the sinful nature...perfection and human nature don’t mix...it’s like Lucifer...too pretty and pride rot in his head and heart and he gave in to the evil pride...because you know...he was too perfect but wasn’t happy to be the number one angel of GOD”. So...guess what would happen if we could get everything right and were way “too good for our own good”? Yep: rotten! Praise God that this is a prison for FREE FOLKS IN JESUS...NO...WE’RE NOT SLAVES ANYMORE! NO MORE SLAVERY TO SIN! WE ARE FREE! AND WHOEVER THE SON SETS FREE IS FREE INDEED! WE’RE FREE MEN AND WOMEN INSIDE THIS FILTHY, ROTTING PRISON, WHICH IS THIS WORLD! THAT’S ONLY UNTIL GOD CALLS OUR SOULS TO REST AND THE NEXT THING WE’LL KNOW IS THAT JESUS IS BACK! PRAISE GOD FOR OUR LORD JESUS AND FOR OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN AND HIS HOLY SPIRIT! THANKS SO MUCH LIGONIER MINISTRIES! What an awesome work of your faith in God...or make yourself available 24/7, six days a week! Yep, there will be no excuse, such as “I never heard of Jesus or God”!!! CHOOSE AGAINST SIN...BUT KNOW THAT JOHN MACARTHUR IS CORRECT...I HAVEN’T SINNED TODAY...BUT GIVE ME 5 MINUTES AND MY MIND WILL SHOW TO ME THAT MY THOUGHTS LOVE THE SINFUL NATURE! WOKE UP A SINNER...BUT I’M DYING BY THE MOMENT IN JESUS CHRIST...DYING TO MYSELF AND MY SIN...NOT BECAUSE I CHOOSE...BUT BECAUSE IT’S JESUS LIVING IN ME! HE’S THE FAITHFUL ONE...NOT ME!!! God bless you!
Pk Amponn hello dear friend! Thank you for comments and question. It’s very humbling to find myself being asked about my Lord’s Word and my personal faith in Him. I don’t like making assumptions but I want you to know that I have indeed been part of a religious group that believes and teaches as you do. Obviously, you’re aware that I differ in my belief. I’m very tempted to answer in my own words and God knows I could easily write a book just to answer your question. 😂 First, I’d like to thank you again for taking time to comment and ask a question. Second, I’d like to make sure I understand your question and the nature of it (why you ask). So if you don’t mind, I’d like to clarify a few things before I answer your question. First, are you a Christian? And I don’t mean one who belongs to a certain denominational religion. I mean, do you follow Jesus Christ? Is He The Lord of you and your life? Is He above your religion and your own beliefs? Does He own you? Well, He owns everyone... what I mean is, do you belong to Him? Do you follow HIM or your idea of Him? Please, don’t take offense! All of us adhere to a particular notion or notions, if you will, of God and of Each Person in God’s Trinity. Do you trust Jesus above all? Is He your God and your personal Lord and Savior?
Pk Amponn Pk Amponn of all people, I’m but utterly disqualified to “defend” (of all Christian teachers!) John MacArthur - I’m by all means not saying he needs to be defended while he teaches sound Biblical doctrine! It’s utterly humbling.... You mentioned two Biblical passages and by God’s grace and guidance, I’ll try to address one passage at a time. I trust 1 Corinthians 7 is about Paul guiding the church in Corinth to God’s will within marriage, single-hood, servanthood/slavery, and other conditions one found himself or herself as they surrendered to Christ. It’s a completely different topic from what John MacArthur addresses here. What John MacArthur answered was about “free will” and choosing. We cannot choose the condition we’re born in! We are sinful from the second God brings us forth from our mother’s womb! That cannot be changed and will not be changed until Jesus returns, resurrects and transforms His elected! We can’t ever “will ourselves out of our sinful condition “! That doesn’t happen even when we repent, receive God’s forgiveness, and surrender to Jesus, being spiritually baptized by His Holy Spirit, dying to our sins (because they were carried, crucified, and forever buried with our Lord and Savior!), being born again in Christ while still living within this wretched, sinful nature body! So 1 Corinthians 7 doesn’t apply because it’s dealing with a completely different context and subject from what MacArthur referred here, as he was answering a question on our God given freedom to choose. We have freedom to choose but not outside our sinful condition, which we’re born in and can’t get out of. It’s so very important to keep a watch in how we read and use God’s Word. We must remain within contextual meanings and messages! Otherwise, it’s just whatever we wish to make of it! Just because the subject is freedom, it doesn’t mean all Biblical passages and verses refer to the same thing involving the subject of freedom. Such thing is true to all Biblical subjects. A subject can and is often repeated in different passages or a subject can and is indeed used in order to refer to other matters, which is the case here. Christ freed us once and for all from the condition of being under God’s judgement...of being utterly bound to our sinful condition, completely blinded to our sins; condemned before our Holy God and absolutely heading to hell, which is indeed what all of us deserve for eternity!
Pk Amponn I believe MacArthur was referring to Galatians chapter 5 - when Paul wrote about Christ freeing us but that we ought to be careful how we pursue our freedom in Him. Careful not to offend and sin against Christ by sinning against others through our very behavior, even as we seek to obey God! You see, love for God and faith in Him, which springs and flows from His Spirit in us, causes us to take care that our eagerness to obey Him doesn’t become a stumbling block to others! He was talking about our freedom to eat and concerning the food rituals for the believers in Galatia! You have to consider that Jewish folks who surrendered to Christ had been accustomed to all the formalities, rituals, and stipulations within God’s Law! They weren’t ever familiar with freedom that only Christ is willing and able to provide! As a former Jew, Paul knew that their attachment to Old Covenant could and indeed was representing a big stumbling block for those who were seeking to be free indeed in Jesus or had just surrendered and were new believers, still “babies”, learning what it meant to be free in Christ. Freedom isn’t a pass for us to do our will but for us to die to it. Freedom in Christ is when He releases us (and therefore, we oughta be done with) from the ever dooming heaviest burden of all, which is to live under The Old Covenant- the former Law. We died to the former things and so did the former things died to us. The former Law is rather ineffective to those whom Christ has resurrected from the dead...like me! I’m talking in terms of SALVATION! There’s no law against those of us living in Christ Jesus! His Spirit lives in us! How can God’s Law condemn Him? But for anyone trying to obtain salvation through works and obedience to God’s Law, His Perfect Law remain a curse and He will indeed bring those unto His Judgement! No one can possibly withstand God’s Righteous Judgement! And no one will! We Christians aren’t under God’s Judgment and against us living in Christ and He in us, there’s no such thing as law and judgment! We’re free! He set us free from the bondage of The Perfect Law, which we can’t ever obey to His Just Demand and Satisfaction, because not only we’d need to perfectly obey GOD’S PERFECT LAW AT ALL TIMES but we’d have to be born completely clean and outside a human being’s body! Can you do that? It’s preposterous that we’d dare to so much contemplate the idea that a human being (obviously, apart from Jesus, Who’s God Himself!) is capable of obeying Holy God’s Law perfectly at all times. That’s satan right there. The liar loves to dwell on twisting God’s Word and the truth, which is his old original strategy for luring humans.
As our thanks for watching Ask Ligonier live with John MacArthur, for a limited time, request your free ebook edition of his new book, Final Word, here: gift.ligonier.org/1117/final-word
I only found this video today, please can I still get a free copy of John MacArthur's book?
When you believe in a Sovereign God you realize there are no coincidences; I found this Pastor on UA-cam week/2 weeks ago. Finally the absolute truth !!
Absolutely. Any of his many books are fantastic.
@@stockinettestitch hello fellow Minnesotan!
I am so thankful for John MacArthur’s bold stand for the Word of God. I have learned so much from him.
Amen!
Likewise, praise the Lord
@Pk Amponn you don't want answers, just an argument. Get out of here
@Pk Amponn That verse refers to destroy your sin! nothing to do with losing anything, it's figurative, He's not saying to gouge out your eyes.
@Pk Amponn it's ok. Some people are just like that. You can't help it. You don't know any other way.
“Finnish well”
Pretty sure that means drinking coffee and expelling Soviets.
Sorry, just having a little fun with your misspelling.
That was fantastic Bless the Lord for raising up John MacArthur
For years,we have listened to John M ,his teachings have been a biblical eye opener, thank you,we love you all the way from Tasmania.
JESUS CHRIST is King of Kings your reply is quite hostile, however Jesus taught us to be kind, patiënt and to love one another.
heiko dobbe from Tassie too and also love listen to Pr John MacArthur
Cristiane Baker Great to hear,,and there are more of us.
JESUS CHRIST is King of Kings You sir are a goat and you know your destination!!
Ligonier and GTY are frankly becoming the only sermons and forums I listen to for TRUE BIBLICAL TEACHING. Bless.
What about Alistair Begg and Paul Washer? And your local church?
Oh yes I love Paul Washer and Alistair...I was just saying generally these two ministries are my regulars.
@@AllSven Ah, gotcha. Even TGC has become questionable, so it's a relief you didn't have reason to object to those men. :-)
Dr. MacArthur's doctrinal purity is always a breath of fresh air. He is most concerned with exposing perversions of Truth by preaching and teaching God's word regardless of how it's received, and for that I feel grateful.
@Pk Amponn troll
You would love John MacArthur’s Strange Fire conference.
Way to preach it to the choir
Amen !!!
So true ❤️

^cherry picking
Thank you Pastor MacArthur for shedding so much wisdom. Praise Jesus!
I am really thankful to the Lord that there are a few men still alive that know the Word of God. It’s what we need more than ever.
Sundown Sam okay. Where would I find them?
Sincerely,
Christopher
The Golden years of Dr. Macarthur. Wisdom from the scripture.
I love the old hymns!
There is something special about them.☝️
Joseph Post Agree. And their doctrinal soundness and beauty makes them so valuable and precious when one is passing through the valley of the shadow ofdeath.
I don’t know about y’all but I have to thank my Father God. Thank you for blessing us with this precious Pastor.
Praise be to God for this profitable labor of love. Keep up the strong light in this heavy darkness. Much love from Mombasa, Kenya.
God bless John MacArthur for his faithful biblical expository teaching ! He has served our KING well. He has walked the narrow path that I strive to walk.
Love his explanation of the difference between true worship and emotional frenzy.
Awesome interview! Great questions and even greater answers. Thank you Dr MacArthur and God bless you, your family, and your loved ones.
One of the best and faithful preacher of all time!!!
Absolutely wonderful. I thank God for Pastor John MacArthur and his faithfulness to the Word.
God bless you all, Thanks to Ligonier team, thanks to Pastor John Mac Arthur. absolute truth, Thanks God for the wisdom.
Praise God for Grace To You and John MacArthur's other ministries!! The LORD has used him in an incredible way to deepen my faith in Our Lord Jesus Christ and my reverence of the Scriptures. Thanks for being faithful to your calling, Johnny Mac!
"For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God's sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous." Rom. 2:13
Loved Dr. MacArthur’s explanation of ‘free will’
I havent listened to this one yet. Sproul said something like, "You can't choose what you don't want..." on the 'illusion of free will,' in my own words. Sproul also suggested "people are free, but God is more free."
Sproul said God doesn’t act lovingly toward the non-elect.
@Pk Amponn you need to stop being a troll
Thank you so much for this forum Ligonier and thank you John MAC Arthur for your dedication to giving us the deep means of the gospel and the whole Bible.
Thank you John. For clarifying Holy Scripture.
Thank you for your faithful answer Dr MacArthur! we love hearing you.
I learned so much from John MacArthur
He helped me study the Bible with the Grace to you app🙏🙌🏽
This was so incredible! I am filled with awe and deep appreciation for the clarity of Dr. MacArthur‘s answers! It is like sitting in a first class lecture at a top address, namely God‘s university! Thank you Ligoniers for making this possible! Grace and blessings to you!
Just breathtaking! Thank you Ligonier for inviting Dr. MacArthur. Please have him back again soon!
Just found these ask Ligonier videos. Loving them.
John MacArthur's arsenal of Spiritual Weaponry is deadly to the forces of darkness. I hope one day i will be able to quote those verses from the Bible in nano seconds.
one verse at a time brother
God bless 🙌
What a gifted wise man JMA is. I am soaking up each word he says and it’s so blessing.
Great teaching with godly wisdom, God bless more John MacArthur and this ministry. Really love this session. Thanks for this wonderful work.
Pastor McArthur, you are wrong! God has gifted the contemporary world with amazingly faithful giants of the Word like you, RC Sproul and many others. Future believers will read your biography in awe.
Thank you for your integrity and dedication to showing millions the right path.
You are a blessing!
Thankful for men of God like Dr. MacArthur standing boldly in these dark days.
Love and respect for John MacArthur´s faithful testimony of the scripture! From ETHIOPIA!!
MacArthur.
Sage of Synergism
Jan Hus said that if a person is not predestined for Heaven, they will grow old enough to have the mental capacity to reject God before they die.
Love John for his faithfulness and how he fills us with the truth
I'm now 59 yrs. young!

Oh, John MacArthur? God bless you, I'm coming to Sun Valley to see you, too worship with you and your church. This is also, of the Holy Spirit's prompting. An answered prayer.
Hopefully I'll be able to tell you about it someday soon.

Thank you Pastor John!😊
Thank you for this great Q&A that clarified a lot of gray areas. May God bless Ligonier ministry and Grace to you ministry for always sharing a true biblical teaching of the Word of God.
I so appreciate your answer to worshiping with reverence and awe. The whipped into a frenzy “worship” I’ve experienced does not compare to the deep reverence I experience in a quiet hymn of worship...
Amazed and thankful the wisdom that was shared!
Hymns are amazing and so is contemporary/modern worship music. Nothing wrong with either guys!!
Thank you for having the time to just answer so many questions. I really love all your nonfiction books especially I Believe in Jesus and your treatment of Psalm 110 in your expository writings
I really like this pastor, been watching many of his videos and have learned so much.
love you John.
love RC Sproul and miss him dearly . But i am happy for him to be in Heaven.
Ligonier and John MacArthur: these are two of my [very] favorite things.
Dr. MacCarthur is simply Biblical! Stay Biblical, when you are on God's side and in God's Word, you will be right.
Thank you for this amazing session!! So blessed.
I thought for sure when I clicked on this it would have tons of dislikes from egalitarian feminists who were upset... But it has zero dislikes and almost 300 likes. J Mac is a beast.
Give it time. The woke folks will find it.
“That’s like saying I’m a potato chip.”
Me casually eating potato chips while I watch this...
Blessed ...thank you John Mac Arthur
This Is Wonderful. Thank You Ligonier! I strongly recommend MacArthur NASB Study Bible as well.
thanks a lot for this moment than you give us. i´m seeing it from Veracruz, México.
I am a simple man, I see John MacArthur, I play.
Thank you so much for this. I loved it!!!
Gracias Pastor tu vida me bendice.
Please let everyone know what music is in the intro, thank you and praise God for this wonderful ministry!
4570sharps It was beautiful. Would love a tag if someone knows the intro. Thanks!
Amen.
Fantastic Series!!
The question of free will at 45 minutes is explained by R.C. as a second causality. Great sermon btw, it's on one of his UA-cam Ligonier videos.
1 john 2:2
PLEASSSSEEEEEE BRING HIM BACK ON!!!!! We need answers lol
This was wonderful. Thanks so much for putting the timestamps on questions. I only opened it at the end, but will make it easy to revisit. Curious how long the interviewer (Nathan?) has been in the US -- his accent has slight American Rs slipping in.
@2:05-2:16 I love John so much lol this needs to be in Reformed Funny Moments
What is the source of music in the beginning, before the questions begin? Where can I find more of it?
I totally agree with regards to hymns, and I think MacArthur could be 1 of the 2 witnesses, he answers with truth unafraid of what people think, he stands in truth and strength
Earnest questions:

1. The bible teaches there is One God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are all called God in the bible.
Isaiah 9 v 6
John 1 v 1
Acts 5 v 3&4
John 20 v 30
Ep 4 v 30
Jesus is refereed to as a mediator, high priest, Son of God , Son of Man, last Adam and God. One cannot pick and choose verses in isolation but understand context, in verse, in chapter, book and the entire bible.
2. Ep 2 8 & 9
Titus 3 v 5
Romans 3 v 24
We are saved through Grace alone by faith alone.
4. 1 Corinthians 12 v 29.
I would like to ask what the meanings of AD and BC are. Thanks.
Before Christ/After death of Christ
BC stands for "Before Christ" AD stands for "Anno Domini" which is Latin for "the year of our Lord."
@@lesliekendall5668 can you give a single example of a person who wasn't God who hasn't sinned? And I didn't say Adam...I said me.
Why does He still find fault? For who can resist His will?
@@1689solas Romans 9
Well, if you die in your sins, He is just in judging you and damning you to hell. You will die, and we, true believers, will rejoice because has rid the earth of another wretched sinner. Read Revelations.
The good news is God saves those very same wretched sinners. Repent, trust, and believe the Gospel. Call upon the name of the Lord and be saved.
This is Really good.
Hi how are you John.. the headless horseman and forerunner of my teaching..
In regard to singing hymns, I wonder how much John MacArthur would consider the words used in liturgy. Any thoughts?
Great job!!!
Do you have any information about
Jehovah witnesses ??
At 20:15, how can it be said that "any baby who dies goes into the presence of the Lord?" Does that not contradict God's eternal decree of unconditional election, and make salvation dependent upon the age of death?
Is election unconditional by God's grace? Age or any class or behavior would be conditional.
@@samkazee3417
I agree.
God also decrees the age of death, so no.
@Pk Amponn Are you questioning whether God numbers our days, sir?
I miss RC Sproul's spirit...it would've been great to hear John MacArthur and RC discussing/debating the merits of the book "The Parousia" (J.Stuart Russell)
Thank you for the ebook
Whether this man (MacArthur) is famous or not, rich or poor, he doesn't know the Scriptures. He is twisting them to fit his own agenda.
From 11:45 "... it doesn't define the all, we know the all is the elect "
Yet the Scriptures tell otherwise.
"And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world." - 1 John 2:2 (NKJV)
"that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation." - 2 Corinthians 5:19 (NKJV)
"The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance." - 2 Peter 3:9 (NKJV)
First, I’d like to thank you again for taking time to comment and ask a question.
Pk Amponn there’s only ONE ATONEMENT: JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD! ONLY HE ATTONS AND RESURRECTS THE DEAD, including the walking dead!
Pk Amponn I don’t quite understand what you mean by “limited atonement”.
A saved person cannot be possessed by demons but can be oppressed from without, when taken up in sin.
War broke out in heaven. God sent Lucifer out. God creates man to replenish His family. God allows sin so as to have a family that is willfully His.
