Good job and good on you to stand your ground with client. I always make the job sound harder than it is i.e you said an hour's work I'd have definitely said a day , but hey it all worked out in the end. Some people just don't understand if something is an hour or two we still have to get all our gear set up and as you said maybe turn something else down. All the best
Excellent job deano, you’re dead right the way your teaching you lad the way to go about doing the job looking at the bigger picture it’s teaching him discipline, patients and how to put pride into his work which is a great thing, liked the way you finished the jointing up around the cills makes it stand out a bit better which not many brickies would do they would just joint it up with a normal jointer, great attitude you have the way you go about doing your jobs.👍🏻🧱🧱

Mortar is not going back very far? Thinner flat jointer to push it back. Then pack it on an angle to make sure it's full. Shim sill up on a few plastic shims on each end then pack it. When you get to shims back 15 mill or 3,/4".
The attention to detail is fantastic mate, cutting the bed joint that no one will ever see is a perfect example of your mindset 👍👍💪 Not gonna tell you how to suck eggs mate, but something i do when doing cills. Duct tape both sides of the perp. No smears at all👌👌 Also put some on the bottom of the perp, so when I ram it with muck it's not dropping out..then pull it off after a coffee for the finishing brush Brilliant work as always mate!
Not necessarily, I do stone work all the time on big commercial jobs and they just use sand and cement. Is it right or is it wrong I don't know but manufacturer specifications stated sand /cement.
£310 for a brickie and a labourer is a bargain i charge £250/£300 plus £150 for the labourer. Under priced loads of jobs when i was younger and sometimes ended up making less than a site day rate but you live n learn. Nice quality on the stones. Time tells the whole story on precast lasting.
Put painters tape on stone when you point it. Joints not full all the way back like that.

Why not Sand course the 2 course or cut a thermalite block down to 140 use 4/5 of them ,easier to cut out
