Following MCDM channel I did a 'Matt' and drew a silver line on the map for Fremen deployment. Super helpful. Love any Dune content so hoping for more!
one more suggestion that i didn't see in the video or comments is i made a sheet for the Atreides player to track Treachery cards with. i laminated it and give that player a dry erase marker! they're the only player that's allowed to take notes and it's kind of a bummer if they're not a super organized person and their game falls apart because of that. i find it eases people into playing what is a very fun faction!
I don't know if anyone will read this.... but I might as well put it out there. @2:15 the card shown indicates that leaders strength is 2x what is listed. I don't see anywhere this rule is listed in the manual. If anyone could point me in the right direction, it would be most appreciated.
It's not based on the rules as written. It's a variant that presents the information in a different way, but still reaches the same outcome. It's only useful for advanced combat, so you shouldn't use it for the basic rules.

Hypothetical placement for people for non-Emperor, Fremen ... 4 Leader, 7 Troops, 7 Spice commited If 'dialed' does not account for spice committed: Rules as written: 4 + 7/2 + 7/2 = 11 This card: (4*2) + 7/2 + 7/2 = 15 If 'dialed' DOES account for spice committed, which is how we play: Rules as written: 4 + 7 + N/A = 11 This card: (4*2) + 7 + 7 = 22 The card method does not appear accurate in either case. I must be missing something. UPDATE: I get it now. Everything is doubled. On purpose. To get rid of halves.
Unlike Star Wars Rebellion, I could play Dune until the end of time and never win. But it's still a blast to play! The game nuances are great! You can piggyback on another player and claim victory if they win! It's just great! You can't do that in SWR.

True, but that's because for brevity's sake I didn't show the specific cards for the Emperor and Fremen that account for this. They're available at the BGG site I linked though.
My issue with the Karama card reference is that it doesnt seem accurate. It states that it affects that advantage until the end of the phase, so the Emperor's ability to take money from bids should affect all cardd
I'm a little confused as to what you're saying. The Karama reference specifically says the Emperor's ability only gets blocked for one card, which is how it's supposed to be. Where are you seeing this bit about "until the end of the phase"?
If you are willing to put in the work, you can make a print-and-play copy of Dune that looks even better than any published copies out there, using boardgamegeek->dune->file section. Don't forget to check the file section for the 1979 version of Dune too.
Excellent choices! Personally, I don’t use the Advanced Combat... Sure, it totally negates one of the Fremen advantages, but A.) they have plenty of others to make up for it, and B.) it’s stupid. Adding complex, convoluted fractional mathematics to an already complex, convoluted game!? RIDICULOUS! LOL Seriously, though, everybody, you do you. Like the Advanced Combat? Use it! Personally, I treat all the “Advanced” rules as “Optional” rules because in the original 1979 version, that’s what they were and as such, I cherry-pick the ones I want vs. the ones I don’t... or rather WE want or don’t.
Advanced combat was hard for me to get my head around, and I definitely don't love it, but I have a hard time cherry-picking unless it affects each player equally. Still, if all your friends are on board, more power to you.
I ran my first game and said all advanced rules except combat, and I was Fremen. We all got stomped by an Emporer / SG alliance that I think would have tempered by adv combat. Still first game so lots to learn.
the game isn't convoluted... at least the rules in the 2019 edition are laid out in a pretty straightforward way. I'd agree that the advanced combat rules are clunky to use, though, but if you play the advanced game without it it wrecks the balance

Completely agree. Though having played with a group of people, all of whom were brand new to the game, it would've been nice to have these handy.

I like to ignore advanced combat and give the Fremen 2 spice when they win a fight to balance it out.
