    Simple, affordable, and so important that it can be made without having to go out to buy supplies in order to make it.

    A busy mom takes the time to share a way to help you stay safe when you have no sewing skills and limited resources and you’re critiquing her presentation!? There are no words. I am extremely grateful for this woman’s generosity, kind words, and gentle instructions. Thank you! I have what I need to give this a go and will do so. May you and your family stay healthy and safe.

      I really think she is the type of person to let the negative words she reads go right out of her head. I really don't think we are critical of her work it's brilliant but others have suggestions as well. It takes a village, no need for scolding all ideas were great everyone. Thank you for watching.

    This is such a great idea! It took about 10 minutes to make. I love it. This is such a great pattern for the requests of really comfortable masks. I tried it with elastic for the ears and it works but the ties from the t-shirt are softer and more comfortable. Just slide the knot to the edges of the bottom of the mask. I have requests for knitted and or t-shirt fabric but I was sewing them on the machine. This is so much faster and looks great. I put the holes closer to the edge and made more holes closer together. And for smaller faces, I reduced the fabric size to eight and a half inches across the face and 7 inches down the sides, as well as cutting the strips half an inch wide so they curl into thin comfortable straps around the ears. Thank you for this wonderful pattern that can be fitted to all different sizes of faces, you're a star!

    This overwhelmed mask-maker says THANK YOU! I've had orders for several dozen masks from my community (maybe because I'm not charging for them - just trying to use up old quilting fabric - or maybe because so many people don't know how to sew and/or don't have machines; one friend had been making masks until her machine gave out, so she ordered from me). Regardless of why they're relying on me, I have felt burdened because I simply can't keep up with the demand and end every day exhausted. I'm going to share this with the people who've been waiting for me to get their masks done. Even their kids can help make these. To repeat: THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

It is tiring and boring cutting and sewing the same thing over and over. And it never seems as though I have made enough. Be gentle with yourself, please. You are doing an amazing thing that not everyone can do. You deserve praise and rest.
      I made this video for exactly the reason you are sharing it. So many friends and acquaintances in need of masks and just so little time.
      I thought maybe I could share this video with my local moms Facebook group and help a few people... 😊

      @@QueenMomMe A couple of people have told me they sewed until their sewing machines wore out or broke, and one mom said her hand-sewn mask was a "nope - never again," LOL. So I told her I'd make her a few, and I also sent her this video. She replied with, "Hey, that's a couple of masks you don't need to make!" She has plenty of T-shirts for her son to have handmade masks. So THANKS! You saved me again!

    • @QueenMomMe
      @QueenMomMe  4 роки тому

      Yes! The research showed that the most effective household filtering material was a vacuum bag, but no one could breathe through it. So then down the list a bit a poly-cotton blend, but also hard to breathe through. Evidently the best crossroads between filter and breathing is 100% cotton pillowcases and t-shirts.

    Thank you! OH my GOSH I just made 3 of these in under 20 minutes. Thank you so much, Sarah. Here's my two cents of your 1,000,000,098 😃😜
    1- I found the perfect "size" tshirt; men's 2XLT 50-52 will make 3 masks from the bottom hem alone. (Using your handy dandy 8x11.5" paper guide)
    2- I struggled to get that "point" of the cut you make the slits with... and then I realized, if I fold the short edge of the doubled over tshirt, cut a sliver. As long as I just make sure not to cut as far as the fold and voila!
    These were the first time I have tried to make any of the DIY masks. I was fortunate (never thought I'd dare say this) that I had a box and a half of the surgical isolation masks leftover from when my Mama passed almost 10 years ago. I am, my son is [he also has a bottomless pit snack stomach🙃🙄😂], my father is, my sisters are (and only my daughter "isn't") immunocompromised. I cannot thank you enough. In fact, I think it's taken me longer to write this comment than it took to make 1 mask. Stay safe, wash (y)OUR hands and Namaste🙏

Last weekend I watched your video and got my daughters to make a mask after I showed them your video. Then this week my daughters taught our schools parent leaders. Tonight we have just uploaded a video copying yours for our school community. Next week we are packing 1000s of corona packages for our school
    Community to help protect them from Corona. We will include a paper instruction doc based on your video so our students can share with their families and community. It has been debunked about using vacuum cleaner bags as Hoover said they are made ONLY for their purpose because of fiberglass! No vaccum bag is safe! So, if, you want to get lung cancer with shards of fine fiberglass, go ahead, but using vacuum bags is NOT THE WAY TO GO!
