The movement in the Defy is haute horology at its absolute finest. What makes the Daytona so appealing is it's resale value throughout the yrs. If I had a choice however, i'll have this over the Daytona anytime! Loved the video, you gave this Zenith the justice it truly deserves.
I absolutely love this watch for everything it can do. From a distance and having never tried it on, I dreamed of getting this watch for a long time. So with lockdown I decided to take the opportunity to save and sell a good number of things to be able to afford it. In the meantime, I watched every single review (well nearly!) on youtube and I even put an order in for one with an Un-AD despite having never seen it - but it was cancelled. When I had enough I took myself along to my AD to try it on. They say don't meet your hero's and this was mine. I don't know if I over-hyped it in my head, but it did nothing for me. I still appreciate all of the mechanical prowess and that is what attracted me to it, but in person, when it's on your wrist, it just becomes a mass of parts and it left me feeling cold, despite being a perfect fit. I know there will be plenty of people that love this, so don't let me put you off, but it is definitely one to try on in person. This will always be the one that got away and I won't know if I made the right choice or not.
When I first started my watch journey, the Daytona was my goal. A few months later, I saw the Zenith Defy El Primero 21 (Exact one in this video) at a dealer and fell it love. It fit my large wrist perfectly, I could watch the movement for ages, and the shine on the case and bracelet reflected every little ray of light it could pick up. I'm just struggling with the current price tag, but it will be mine some day!
I am not into skeletonized dials or integrated bracelets and I have dismissed the Defy until now. You have done an amazing job at showing how cool this watch this now I need to see one in the metal. Thank you Jenni 😊👍
Im generally not into skeletonized ones either but this one is sweeet! Never seen one but I bet in person they are amazing. I actually really dig the classic el Primero at 1:27 too.
The movement is absolutely Insane. I know people always talk about zenith having cool movements but the breakdown shows just how incredible they really are. Amazing piece.
Generally not a fan of skeletonized dials, but this one...well, it is a gem, and would gladly own it. Zenith blew it put of the park with this one. Between a daytona and this, I personally would go for the defy every time.
Bought it two weeks ago. Agree with your presentation. Very nice watch and a real “eye-catcher”. Compliments for your shots and your presentation style.
This watch is a looker, a performer, and would be the perfect daily for a rich guy with Ap's, Rolex's, etc. in his/her collection. Unfortunately, that rich guy aint me! lol
@@StarShineiskool Think to whom you are replying to next time? There may be insurmountable barriers that prevent one from owning a dream watch. These are dream watches after all, most cannot afford even this 8k watch, let alone a $20k-$100k watch.
Jennie- Thank you for discussing this watch. Simply beautiful. Yes, as you say, there is no practical reason in this technical age, but i see this as art and therefore treasure such a skeletonized watch all the more (especially being able to view a high beat chronograph from zenith). I live in germany as well and appreciate your great reviews. Keep up the great work.
As usual, Jenni, you are just so delightful. Personally, I dislike skeletonized watches, but knowing how interesting listening to your explanation would be, I ‘sat’ through the whole class...
Let’s hope you’re the only big channel that brings this one to light so we can keep those second hand prices down 😀 - this has been on my top 5 sports want list since it came out.
i'm not a fan of skeletonized dials but this one is very legible. And the movement is amazing. Love the case. Top-notch stuff. Thanks for the review, Jenni.
To be honest I didn't know about this particular variant of the El Primero. Thanks for sharing. I'm not big on both chronographs and skeleton watches, but this movement is very impressive and would be a shame to hide. However it's too big in both diameter and thickness for my liking. Alternatively I could grow bigger wrists :)
Awesome video Jenni, I think the Zenith El Primero 21is beautiful and one of the best chronographs for sale. I like the skeletonized blue and gray dial. I like the transparent case back showing the blue rotor. I like the zenith angular case look, big size, light titanium body and two movements.
awesome watch. I don't really like chunky watches or skeletonised watches, but there's something about this watch that makes a difference. I love the display back case, it's awesome. The watch as a whole looks rugged but not necessarily too 'chunky'. Good review choice!
Congrats !! A true high horological and innovative piece as you stated. It’s just a bout as good as it can get period. Finishing on the watch is also second to none iv seen it in person working on my own channel
Das ist wirklich eine tolle Uhr und noch schöner mit einem Leder- oder Kautschukarmband. Ich könnte stundenlang dem rasenden Sekundenzeiger zuschauen, wie er sich rasend dreht ohne sich zu übergeben. 😊
Thank you for review:) I just recently bought this watch, it is amazing peace of art. Such as Big Ben in London, but you can wear this watch on your wrist :)
Not a big fan of skeletonized watches but I love over-engineered functional drip, this is a dope piece for sure. Spring drive is also a favourite of mine for the same reason.
I knew nothing about Zenith two years ago, and now they are something I aspire to own. As to the usefulness of one, some of us can't have a phone or smart watch on us at work. For us a quality mechanical is both interesting and useful.
Oh Man Great Great video Jenni Team. Such good energy for this new timepiece. Beautiful photography as well! All Wins. I really don't like "skeleton" dials... but i'd make an exception here.
I like titanium watches. Of course, I would never be able to afford a Zenith. However, I am very happy with what I can have, which are couple of Citizen titanium watches. They are beautifully made, and they are so light. Amazing watches. I highly recommend Citizen Attesa line.
I love this watch. Having lived with it for a little over a year I can tell you it still excites me every time I wear it. I sometimes think they could have done a better job designing the blue parts of the skeletonized dial on the right. I feel it needs more separation between the parts. But I still love it. I once tried to measure something in fractions of a second but I remembered that I read somewhere it takes your brain a 10th of second to react to something .. so it is a bit fast for our brains I guess
This watch is absolutely amazing, a true statement of mechanical greatness. As for the "el Primero" controversy, actually the very first automatic chronograph on the market, not announced but actually released, was the Seiko Pogue, with some references dating to February 1969
saw the video, and bought it. last month resold it at 1/5 of a steel Daytona. However, this piece surely is the most tech advanced chronograph I could afford now.
Normally, I'm not a huge fan of skeleton watches--not because I don't like seeing the movement ( just the opposite, actually--I definitely prefer display casebacks), but because they can be hard to read. This one, though, is awesome, and has nice hands and markers that stand out. Really digging this design. This one and the Oris Propilot X (which I was lucky enough to see and try on recently) are my favorite skeleton designs out there.
You're adorable and I enjoy your videos. I think this is my new grail. It was the Zenith type 20 ton up but, the movement is the star of the show and shouldn't be hidden.
also the Breitling heuer Hamilton dubois-dépraz buren consortium essentially built a Dubois-dépraz module on a Buren-microrotor movement. Seiko's and Zenith's movement both featured an "integrated" architecture.
Didn't Seiko actually have the first fully integrated vertical clutch column wheel chronograph movement, but maybe the Swiss beat them to the market? I'd take that watch all day long over a Rolex Daytona, thank you for another cool video!
Gorgeous watch. Was never a fan of the skeletonized dial - - until now. That 44mm case is right in the sweet spot for my 20cm wrist. I'll take a mechanical, automatic or quartz movement watch with a real analog dial, hands down. Smart watches are not real watches.

Would love to see something from you covering these brands. Keep up good work.
Have been looking at this piece for quite some time now. Decision is between this one and the full black ceramic model. I have not been able to find either in person so I am hesitant on buying this piece because I can’t tell if the blue is overpowering or beautifully subtle. Any recommendations?
I saw this watch in person at the boutique and it is not that huge as one might imagine. Nevertheless, I believe it makes not much sense not to release a smaller versions with bearable 42mm so wider audience can actually. At this moment, this Zenith Defy 21 model is limited to the customers which larger wrists. Finally, thickness of 14mm could be yet another showstopper where the watch becomes simply too uncomfortable to wear.
The movement in the Defy is haute horology at its absolute finest. What makes the Daytona so appealing is it's resale value throughout the yrs. If I had a choice however, i'll have this over the Daytona anytime! Loved the video, you gave this Zenith the justice it truly deserves.

Rolex Daytona can't even get close to this chronological perfection.
thats why they bought the movements from Zenith for their original Daytona.
I know but it’s so damn sexy.

Didn’t Zenith make the movement for Rolex when they first made the Daytona?

Haven't even watched the video yet, but I gave a thumbs up. Zenith are one of my absolute favorite watch manufacturers. Someday I will get a Primero.
I own this watch and love the light and durable Titanium style. My favorite watch. Also having Rolex and Omega watches.
From an aestethical point of view it is not my cup of tea, but from a technical point of view this piece is simply amazing.
