A big part of my current natural hair regimen is all about preserving my heat stretch and keeping my scalp clean and my hair moisturized for an extended period of time. It’s a balancing act that’s all about technique. But, please don’t feel pressure to copy this regimen verbdom. At the very least I hope there are a few things you learn that you can use to upgrade your current regimen, if needed. In PART 2 (posting next week Thursday), a lot of your questions will be answered.
@@theserenewedroots Yes it will. It may take some time for your sebum to coat but, with the help of product and consistent scoop and spread sessions it will. Try using Organic Tea Tree Organic oil on your scalp when you scoop. The will help a lot with dandruff.
Because of my dandruff, I scratch my scalp alot, consciously and subconsciously. My hair sheds excessively, no one seems to notice because I still have a lot left. I was told don't wash my hair more than once a week to not upset the ph balance of my hair. Any tips?
I don’t even know why am here I am white and I am a boy but I have to tell you something you are very smart! And you have a way with your words and you demonstrate everything so people could understand better. Keep up the great videos you are amazing
justin miller no she’s not smart with words, otherwise she wouldn’t have said African Americans produce a type of sebum. No such thing as African American hair, it’s type 4 hair perculiar to Africans and perhaps others of mixed races. Africans became Americans due to history and it’s a shame that it has suddenly become a badge of honour.
I'm happy to see you and here regardless. I watch a lot of videos on Japan and expats living in Japan. I hear lots of stories that Japanese people randomly touch black peoples hair without permission, out of curiosity not out of malice. Maybe if more of them were like you and watched videos like this they could educate themselves without being so intrusive. 😉
This is the best natural hair and skin channel I’ve ever come across. You’re so intelligent and give such detailed facts. I’ve found this channel over a month ago and IMMEDIATELY unsubscribed from 75% of other UA-camrs 😂 Your hair typing system is SOOO ACCURATE because for months I couldn’t exactly pinpoint if my hair was 4b or 4c- it wasn’t tight enough to be considered 4c and it didn’t even seem as loose as those who said they had 4b hair. Your videos have taught me a lot. And your videos are done so well- they remind me of the PowerPoints I’d see in a university lecture 👍🏾 Thank you so much for taking time to educate us !
MrsPrissy Exactly! Everyone is making a natural hair channel these days because it’s popular and a surplus of people are going back natural. And usually the worst channels have the most subscribers. But no one is really putting in any effort to educate others about their hair, scalp, skin etc like this channel. This channel is the complete guide to having healthy hair.
I am honestly appalled at some of the comments. This young lady shares her beautiful brilliance for FREE! If you don’t agree, then why comment? She is sharing what works for her. She does tons of research to help her viewers maintain healthy hair. Everything isn’t for everyone. Either keep loving or keep it moving. Thank you for all of your videos. Many of them have helped me learn my hair type and what I need to do to keep it treated. I am a fairly new subscriber and am grateful to have found your channel.
I love how your channel is based off of science and facts, instead of pushing “Magic growth” products. I’ve been binge watching your videos lol and I’m learning so much!
I don’t think she’s advising anyone not to cleans their scalp, she’s only sharing what she does to keep her hair stretched for the month. To each it’s own with this routine. I workout daily so I know i have to cleanse my scalp weekly. I still think it’s good information to know about the sebum and the terms she uses to scoop and spread the sebum through out the hair and that it’s possible to not need as much products to keep my hair moisturized I never knew about that, that’s why I think it’s great information. I’m open to trying it this method but because i want to eliminate the use of a lot of products. I workout regularly, and I know that not cleaning my scalp for a month probably wouldn’t work. Thanks green beauty for your videos they are an excellent resource.
So i decided to not wash my hair the last month of me wearing braids. I used only rose water and glycerin and an oil along the hair shaft. i came to realize that sometimes our hair smells or gets dirty sooner because of the (long list of) ingredients in some of the products. so now that i've removed my braids, i use as few ingredients as possible and i don't put anything on my scalp......GREEN BEAUTY RULES!!!!!
I agree. The products cause build up and attract dirt. I have to wash. Now I used oils and a little conditioner for styling. I don't wash my hair honestly. But yeah do what works for you. I also noticed odor if my hair is wet and doesn't dry fast enough before I tie it up for sleeping.
Long time subscriber...we don't have the same hair type but I adore you and your videos. You are fact-based, informative, and relatable. I love that you do NOT do reviews, you're just here to share knowledge and the audience has to decide for themselves what to do with that info. THANK YOU SIS!
I started doing this to my TWA, along with washing my hair with water only, and withing a couple days, I noticed the difference. My hair (low porosity) is now extremely shining, healthier, and soft. My scalp issues are going away and healing since I am keeping the sebum from building up, as well. I only use a minimal amount of coconut oil with a few drops of tea tree oil massaged into my scalp, and my scalp seems to appreciate the less-is-more approach. My hair hasn’t been this healthy in years, maybe even decades (I’m 30). I’m still baffled that my hair is happy with simply water and a bit of oil.😂 Every day in the morning (and sometimes the evening if need be), I take off my bonnet and start massaging my scalp to scoop and spread the sebum that accumulated overnight (I have a moderately oily scalp), and I can feel my hair go from stiff and slightly dry to super plush and easy to detangle. It’s great. And my hair used to be perpetually dry and tangle with single strand knots... I think it was due to product build up and overmanipulation. Thank you for your informative videos! You’re really helping us to help ourselves permanently!
We have a tendency to be so rude and forget where we as people came from..sistas..with our shampoos and curly coil..mixes..before all of this we had limited products and limited needs and now someone is teaching ..not once did she say you had to do it.. or that it was for you..she gave options..dont insult anyone..based on one person..her life her choice..she is not nasty look at her home..her nails her face..so please STOP
Tenasha, It is sad to say, they will not stop! I am inclined to believe it is just in some individuals character to be Rude, Negative and have an Ugly disposition!! A main reason that they are rude after watching this channel is because they are Envious of Green Beauty! Same as the Thumb Downers! I agree with you wholeheartedly. She is doing an Excellent job in sharing and enlightening those of us who appreciate this video. Each viewer has an option to do as they please. If a person chooses not to follow her suggestions, keep your final decisions to your self!!!
People fear education, they rather believe the convenient. A pity really, but there are those of us who recognize knowledge, values it and reap its rewards . ✨excellent video✨
Everything is not for everybody. People just need to do what works best for their hair and lifestyle. She’s just showing you a method that works best for her hair and lifestyle. People still need to know more than just the texture and formation of their hair, which is where the whole letters and numbers people keep on quoting that doesn’t mean anything at all. You need to know about your porosity, elasticity and density. Once you learn everything about your hair, then you can learn how to maintain your hair properly.
Agreed. These videos are clearly designed for black women with length to their hair. I'm one of those who have short cut hair, very short cut style. A little longer than a Caesar cut. What's the advice for women like myself? I'd be interested in knowing.
Wow! I’ve been doing the same thing for 3/4 months. Just on intuition. Used to do this years ago while I was in the bathtub. The warm water loosens the sebum and it glides easier down the strands. Now I use water and aloe juice warmed up in a spray bottle. When I need oil I use a castor/jojoba blend which is also warmed. I have less tangled and softer hair that breaks less and is glossy. I massage with my pads of my fingers and spread it. My fingers and nails benefit too, stronger and smoother. Love your channel and your products 💕
Fascinating. Thank you for the information. My hair is Caucasian and only through watching AA haircare have I learned about how to protect my hair. We are told to brush gently to avoid breakage, but most other education is from products that are marketed to us. Since watching AA haircare videos, I've stopped using hair ties, avoid tension on the scalp and ends, and use more natural product.
Hi Everyone. I’ve been on my natural hair journey for four and a half years. It’s been good but not at all what I expected. I tried this method for a month and it is so worth it! My hair has never felt more soft and healthy since I started. The sebum gives hair a softness that no hair product can. Here I am at wash day and “she” is so bouncy & hydrated!😁 Thanks Green Beauty!❤️
If you've never felt full coverage there's nothing like it. It's hard work but worth experiencing at least once in your journey. Respect! Great video!💛
WOW WOW WOW did you see the pictures of those black beauties @ 2.20? I had to pause and take it in. As the saying goes I didn't choose to be black I was just born lucky
This video is amazing!! NOW I am understanding why my strands feels oily without product! I stopped washing, conditioning, and using products with chemicals in my hair a year ago (occasionally use oils), as an experiment to see if my hair would thrive better. I have noticed a major difference and have gained hair growth, w/less breakage, and my scalp is not itchy or dry anymore, but oily from my natural sebum! Water-washing in the shower daily must be causing my sebum to spread. I seriously love your videos!
Same here! I will never go back to using commerical products again. Its sad how we are programmed to believe we need products for our hair to thrive. Water only hair washing has been the best thing ai have done for my hair.
I'll have to disagree with you on one thing: visually there is a huge difference between your first and second session! Your hair is darker and shinnier after the second session, to me at least! Great video, very thorough and informative! Thanks so much for sharing!
A lot of people in this thread are grossed out by the thought of not washing their hair and it’s weird. The way our hair is set up you could simply go years without washing your hair, it’s still practiced to this day in many countries and their scalps aren’t flaky, itchy, and gross with build up. Y’all just use too many products in your hair lol. Not referring to those who actually have dandruff from a skin condition. But I’ve personally witnessed this from experience. I used to have to scratch giant patches of dandruff from my hair when I was younger, washing my hair every week, using all these different products with all these foreign ingredients because they smelled good and someone on the internet said it was the bomb... It was a mess. Then I cut my hair and just went full blown lazy 😂. I go weeks without washing my hair, don’t put any heat on it. The most I do to style it if I’m not wearing it out is buns, a puff, or two braids. I only use pure natural products, the kind you gotta melt down before using, and I don’t personally massage or oil my scalp and my hair does perfectly on its own. Even after I have my hair in braids or another protective style in for months I don’t get that nasty build up at the roots (Yes I do still wash it anyway). And I’ve been told on many different occasions that my hair always smells good. My point is, it’s not gross to not wash our hair at all. Let your hair do what it was made to do and you’ll be just fine. If you choose to wash your hair regularly and do whatever it is that you do, that’s also fine! But don’t sit here and act like it’s disgusting to go a longer period of time without washing your hair. You sound ignorant. Like people who think co-washes are disgusting because you’re not using shampoo.
Thankyou well said I also go weeks without washing my hair I feel guilty after but after seeing this video I felt vindicated because I got tired of long weekend wash days with all kinds of products Now I hardly wash my hair I keep things real simple I leave my hair alone It’s very healthy But I don’t neglect it .
I spent my time looking for the negative comments but ow I couldn't find them. I love your videos. Your patience with explanations, your insight, your vooooooice and oh you are beautiful 😍. Thank you for doing these videos. I got tired of my crown section hair cos the base was so full but middle to the end gets thinner and thinner. What a sad occurrence. I found you not long ago. And I'm benefiting from your videos.
I could never relate to people who wash their hair every week or two. With my hair texture, I could not afford to wash my hair that often. I only wash my hair every month or so and i really needed a way to keep my strands from drying up into a frizzy mess before my wash day.Thank you green beauty for yet another awsome skill.
@@msnkuli6089 Sebum is an excellent detangler. I haven't used any product (other than DIY DCs) in my hair for well over a year and haven't needed a detangler. Once your hair is fully coated with sebum detangling in the shower is a breeze. I have very coily hair that tangles easily and I will never go back to using any commercial products.
That's the beauty of her channel. She doesn't really push you in one direction per se--just gives you facts and some opinions on routines and practices that keep coming up. It's all up to you on how you'd use the information. Sure she has her own preferred routine, and yes she shares it--but she tells us time and time again that her experience is different from our own and reminds us to be the judge. Personally, my life and body and hair routine often changes. But ultimately, I just listen to my hair and scalp. Scratch, sniff, check my nail, and take the best step. From time to time I'll look UA-cam to see what's new in the hair world, or to trying something different, but it's on me and I'm to know that there woman are informative as GreenBeauty here.
I love this!. In the old days, that's why women used to hold their heads downward and brush their hair. I remember even women would take their ends and rub their scalps with it.
I really need to try this. I don't spend alot of money of hair products (they're really expensive) but i wanna spend even less and use more natural products. great video!!
Yeeesss!! This is why I mostly water rinse!! And you’re so right-scooping and spreading is definitely more accurate. My sebum is amazing and my braid outs and twist outs have never been the same 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Wow! My scalp was a little crusty and I thought I was going to have to wash my hair again ( I was once a week) then I decided to watch this again and I used the spray! My scalp is clean! Yay!!!! Thank you thank you thank you!
I started doing something similar to this. I washed everything out of my hair a couple days ago then went on a walk with a knit hat on to help keep my scalp warm. I scritched and preened my nape today and omg! There was quite a bit of sebum on this hairs. I'll keep doing this for a month and see how my hair is doing after. I like to use jojoba oil to help the dry ends and patches.
I used to have the same problem and itchy buildup until I stopped putting heavy oils on my scalp. Now that I started using light oils like jojoba, my scalp is way happier. I put the least amount possible and it's a good alternative to natural sebum.
Nikki Lopé try Shea moisture black castor oil shampoo and conditioner. These will prevent dandruff and will grow hair immediately and gives silk texture and slip to hair
I tried the Scooping and Spreading method 2 days ago and my hair has never been so untangled and happy in its entire existence 😍 I m loving it it's like having a moment of communication with my hair 😍 Can't thank you enough for the Noble work that you do. You're the best 🤩👏🏽
I'm trying this! It's been 3 days since I washed my hair and I noticed my hair makes a a good amount of sebum. I did the smell test and there was no smell at all, but my fingers were really glossy and moisturized. I think the smell-free comes from being product- free and ph-balanced. The only "product" I put on my hair post wash near my roots has been aloe + distilled water mixture which has a ph of about 4.5. The day after wash day I added a small amount of castor oil to my ends for extra protection. I was initially very afraid to be so minimal with my products like I would have dull dry breaking hair. But to the contrary, my hair feels soft, is shiny, has elongation, definition and most importantly very manageable and tangle-free. I detangled my hair very thoroughly prior to shampooing it and twisted it up. Then I washed my hair in twists, and experienced no matting or tangling at all when I went to re-twist after washing and hair was the most defined and detangled I'd ever seen it be! I was pleasantly surprised. Easiest shortest wash day ever. I used mane choice detangling shampoo and did a natural rinse-out conditioner that contained hydrolyzed keratin, which may have had something to do with that. But yeah, so far so good.
Lightly spritz water/aloe Vera mix on your scalp nightly. IMO I think my sebrum hardens, block my pores from secreting more sebrum and leads to dry scalp and hair. The water loosens it and allows it to spread when doing the method she is describing above. Think of ear wax. Some people's will flow out freely and others have to flush with water to soften and loosen.
MeeMee thank you, I will try doing this. I really want to try the method she's talking about, but my scalp is dry, so I was wondering how that would work.
Apple Cidar vinegar and baking soda wash rinse, then condition add aloe peppermint and coconut oil to your conditioner; leave on for 10 minutes rinse then towel dry Apply leave in cream conditioner and oil braid in 4 sections and sit under hood dryer for 30 minutes, heat helps the moisture get in there ! If you’re wearing it natural, In between washes, daily spritz with warm aloe water and oil
Same here. Until I started taking liquid essential minerals (not for my hair) but for my overall health. it benefited my mane. I now have Bouncy and elastic natural hair.
I really appreciate this video. This makes excellent sense and for those who get it, it's more practical than purchasing loads of products when your scalp is already equipped with one of the best products.
I found that plait and preening works for me. I'll smooth and preen my plait sections as I am braiding. Another day I can just run my fingers down my plaits/braids which works too. I will also preen undoing the plaits/braids. I find hair care so simple and effective.
Personally, I get "full coverage" on day one by carefully massaging my ends ON my scalp (moving in one direction only), spreading the sebum and repeating. I'd rather they be fully covered then work my way up. Just a tip for everyone 🤗
Hello! Your videos are awesome. I love the information and time you spend making them. I tried your scoop and spread method and I was surprised to find just how much sebum I had sitting there on my roots. Until I tried it, I don't think I really believed there was enough sebum to coat my hair like oil. Your tips on loosening up with a massage then assisting spread with water and oil also helped. Thank you, thank you for sharing. Your videos are gold.
Honestly , you should have ALL the subscribers. Your channel is so informational and detailed. You're very thorough with your videos and have lots of facts! also, not to mention your voice is very soothing! I can't wait to try these methods on my hair.
I understand this is a method for people who have sensitive skin and allergies. I cannot use this method. I went years without washing or cowashing my hair regularly due to my ignorance about type 4 hair. Now that i cowash and shampoo regularly I'm in and out of the shower within 20 minutes, compared to the hours or days that it used to take detangling and washing my hair. I'm never going back to that. I'd rather cowash my hair daily for 20 minutes a day vs spending hours on my hair once or twice a month. At the end of th day its about doing whats best for your own head of hair. Your hair is luscious and beautiful, so clearly, what you're doing is working for you.
Green beauty, I was looking for the receipt on onion juice rinse and I discovered your channel. I’m so very happy that I did. You are very knowledgeable and you share your knowledge willingly. I admire your green thumb and I’m impress that you grow your own herbs and vegetables. For healthier natural and longer hair, your channel is all I need. THANKS FOR SHARING!!!!
I always wondered why no matter how many times I wash and exfoliate my hair and scalp it still felt oily at the roots. Now I know how to handle my hair. Ty for the time and information
I tried this and Lord! Does it solve my problem 😂 thanks so much for this. I have really oily skin/scalp so I started noticing build up by day 3, strands were still moisturized but scalp needed that scoop and spread magic. Scalp feels a lot better and “airy” 🥰 😴 Thanks again
FROM I'VE SEE YOUR HAIR LOOKED MORE MOISTURIZED AND ALIVE IN THE 2nd go around . Thank you for reminding me about what I used to do. Now I will go back to SIMPLE TASKS ....THIS IS. PART OF WHAT MADE MY HAIR GROW SO FAST. B. K. 🕶😁😁😁
I do this!! But this method is useless to me without the help of my hair being drenched in water.. My sebum is stubborn!! I wash after a while though because my hair can get over-coated and it turns white. When I do wash I use Castile soap because it doesn’t strip my hair at all, just gets rid of the excess oil, sebum and leaves a nice amount. Using this method has helped me learn my hair. So much so, that no one else can tell me more about my hair than I can.
Thanks I have been using this technique ever since I came across this video. Now it's a holy grail for me lol. Now my hair stays moisturized and shiny more than before. Don't judge me but I only wash my hair every 3 months and I am 4 years in at rib length😁
This really works. I'm in the 4th week of trying this method, and I can't believe it but my scalp isn't itchy. My hair looks nice and I don't have to dry it out frequently with shampoo anymore. Thanks a lot. EDIT: Just a note that of course, this method is not for everyone. It works for me because my scalp is always dry. If I don't put oil on it, it just stays dry, and of course usiing shampoo actually makes it drier, which caused itching previously. So I think with fine type 4 hair and a dry scalp, this will be a lifesaver. If you have an oily scalp, then maybe not, you'd need the shampoo.
Thanks again for an amazing video, I was so excited to see it. As usual you post all the information that we Naturals need to thrive on our hair care journey!!! 🎉 🎊 🎉
Since combing out my dreadlocks, your channel has helped me with the transition. Funny how same hair can behave differently with different hair do. Thank you so much.
I think I may have done this technique years ago when I use to wear braided extentions for months. I barely used any products and did not wash often so my sebum was doing all the heavy lifting. These days I admit to being in love with the suds, but I think this technique would be perfect for wearing long-term protective styles especially my mini twist which tend to mat and loc if water touches them. Thank you for sharing and I look forward to seeing more of your techniques. The more tools, skills and knowledge we have for caring for our natural hair the better.
I scratch my scalp often while massaging, but usually discard what I considered to be build-up even though I don't use products regularly. I never considered dispersing the sebum down along the shaft of the hair.brilliant.!
Where have you been all my UA-cam life???? I subscribed immediately after watching the video. You have some serious content on your page :) It's like a reference section for natural hair care! Keep up the great work!
I really enjoyed this lesson. My question is, without washing for a month, does your scalp itch? Do you experience any type of build up? And if so, how do you manage it? Again, thanks for this video. ❤️
Sometimes I go an extremely long time without washing my hair, it’s not really because of some method or routine I’m just stupid lazy sometimes, but my scalp personally never itches & I don’t get very much build up because I don’t use very many products.
Not properly washing my short cut, soft coily hair isn't optional. Once product builds I know it's time to clean my scalp & hair; scalp begins itching, & that's my sign. Massage is always good for any length/type of hair, just as it's great for the body.
@@ElieKala that's true, I only use water based spray, and oils on my scalp, I only use lotion during the wash day and the rest of the month I use only spray and oils, my scalp hardly had build ups
I LOVE Green Beauty (such an intelligent sister), but I gotta agree with you on this one. I workout hard 5-6 times a week and don't know that it'd be healthy not to wash out that sweat routinely, Although I have been considering doing ACV rinses after my workout twice a week..
I work out as well. I should have mentioned in the video that this method works even better for people who work out and sweat. The mixture of sweat and sebum is called an acid mantle. The acid mantle (acidic pH) protects our skin from bacteria, pollution etc. (basically all the harmful alkaline stuff out there) and of course prevents moisture loss. It's also REALLY GOOD for your hair. The best time to Scoop and Spread is right after you've worked out b/c everything is warmed up and more liquidy so, it can coat your hair a lot faster. In the marketing/retail world we live in, a lot of us have been taught to be automatically turned off when we hear things like this b/c we are made to feel like we need all these products. When in reality many of these products are a big part in why we have skin, hair and hygiene issues in the first place. Sweat and sebum are not nasty and 'should not' have an unpleasant scent, they're actually a gift. If you choose to try out this method or the water only method and you notice a bad smell, that's a clear sign that its time to change up your diet and detox your gut which will in turn detox your blood which will in turn balance out your hormones so your scent is more pleasant. You don't have to stop using products, just try exploring what your body can do on its own, trust me you'll learn a lot about what's going on inside your body in the process.
I have been subscribed to your channel for 2 years and your tutorials and natural hair suggestions are ALWAYS insightful and very helpful! I REALLY enjoy the suggestions you exchange on 4 type hair. You are such a blessing for several naturals with the variation of 4 type hair on UA-cam In addition, I agree likewise you are an intelligent young lady🤓📝😍✌🏾️💁🏾
I’ve been doing this for quite some time in braids. But I don’t use my nails at all. Just spray rose water, massage and run the sebum (which I can easily feel) down my new growth. But, I do this almost daily so my hair doesn’t get dry. And I get minimal webbing of my roots.
annettemint You are so right love this method I was washing my hair once a week long wash days on Saturday all day sometimes twice a week and lots of different products No more love this method better Blessings to you
thanks so much for the video. I produce a lot of sebum but always thought it was dirty. I finally decided to try this method and I can't believe am onto my fourth week without shampoo. my scalp feels so clean and doesn't itch as much as it used to
I'm gonna give this a go! I wanna get over this plateau length. I'd adjust to fortnights rather than monthly washing though. I wash in tight braids focussing on my scalp which keeps my hair nicely stretched and means I can still limit blowdrying to once per month, max.
I learned so much from you. I really enjoyed your hair typing videos. I learned that the curl pattern and the tightness is what really defined my hair better. I learned that my son and I both have O shaped curl pattern and it's very tight , it shrinks up just like mine but 70%
Hi, I just subbed to your channel!! At the beginning while watching, I thought that it was a little weird, (sebum pulling) but now, it makes total sense. Your crown is amazing! I'm not a "product junkie", (some YTubers go insane with them). My hair enjoys low, gentle manipulation 2x a week, at most. That's how I retain health, length and my sanity! Great video & looking forward to so many more. Thank you🙏💯💪👍😊
Yasmine M.P.R false. grease molecules are too big to clog pores, its a myth. petroleum and petrolatum are used in skin products , even a staple in hospitals. i use it on my hair and i have never had a problem, in fact , i retain moisture a lot better and my split ends have stopped , single strand knots too. i retain length a lot better , have gone from shoulder length to bra strap length really quick (a little under a year). my hair is soft and detangles easy now, mind you i have 4c hair. i wash my hair once a week.
God bless you for creating these amazing video. I am learning so much about my hair and it’s truly amaze. Some of the things you mentioned ive been doing but i stopped.
After washing and deep conditioning I definitely wear my hair like that for at least 2 weeks before I rock a twist out and it's time to wash and deep condition again. I don't use heat to stretch. I use bobby pin to style and stretch.
@GreenBeauty Will this still work if you're prone to dry scalp or dandruff?
Hi Green Beauty I’m not sure if I produce enough sebum how can I tell I never have any build up
Thank you!!
@@theserenewedroots Yes it will. It may take some time for your sebum to coat but, with the help of product and consistent scoop and spread sessions it will. Try using Organic Tea Tree Organic oil on your scalp when you scoop. The will help a lot with dandruff.

I totally agree!!! Some of these hair guru are just profiting off their channel versus educating.
I used only rose water and glycerin and an oil along the hair shaft. i came to realize that sometimes our hair smells or gets dirty sooner because of the (long list of) ingredients in some of the products. so now that i've removed my braids, i use as few ingredients as possible and i don't put anything on my scalp......GREEN BEAUTY RULES!!!!!
so was the rose water and glycerin a good spray to keep your hair moisturized? and by braids do you mean cornrows or box braids?
@@annecuthers5723 Braids not cornrows. I use an oil after I spray and squeeze the braids while applying the oil (I live in a humid climate).
I agree. The products cause build up and attract dirt. I have to wash. Now I used oils and a little conditioner for styling. I don't wash my hair honestly. But yeah do what works for you.
I also noticed odor if my hair is wet and doesn't dry fast enough before I tie it up for sleeping.
Agreed

I’m still baffled that my hair is happy with simply water and a bit of oil.😂
Every day in the morning (and sometimes the evening if need be), I take off my bonnet and start massaging my scalp to scoop and spread the sebum that accumulated overnight (I have a moderately oily scalp), and I can feel my hair go from stiff and slightly dry to super plush and easy to detangle.
I completely agree. I always think abt what our ancestors did before all of these products and hair methods and techniques. This seems pretty simple.
Tenasha,
It is sad to say, they will not stop!
"T" thanks for stating the facts!✊
Amen to that
Everything is not for everybody.
She has all of that info on her channel.
Ouhh massage with the pads!! Great idea, 2 in 1
Flishybrond I will sure try it like this...
We are
Thanku for the warm water and aloe Vera, I keep my aloe Vera in the fridge when I take it out I use it while is cold no warm now I now I can warm up
Fascinating.
🤔 I'll try it
Everytime I see your videos I feel I'm watching a TV commercial. That good you are. Actually you are better than many.
I’m just so in love with this channel
I'll have to disagree with you on one thing: visually there is a huge difference between your first and second session! Your hair is darker and shinnier after the second session, to me at least! Great video, very thorough and informative! Thanks so much for sharing!
I agree. Definitely see a difference which only reiterates that the practice is a good one. It doesn't get anymore "Natural" than this!
Thank you...I couldn't have posted it better
Well said
Thankyou well said I also go weeks without washing my hair I feel guilty after but after seeing this video I felt vindicated because I got tired of long weekend wash days with all kinds of products
Now I hardly wash my hair I keep things real simple I leave my hair alone
It’s very healthy But I don’t neglect it .
I approve this msg..lol
What is co-washing plz??
Millicent Peterson same here. My hair is always getting tangled. I’m still searching for a good detangler 😩

Sure she has her own preferred routine, and yes she shares it--but she tells us time and time again that her experience is different from our own and
reminds us to be the judge.
I love this idea but I get a dumb amount of dandruff and if I "scooped" all I would get are flakes....everywhere 😫🤦🏽♀️
Sameeeeee...but i will try it before it shows a lot
I used to have the same problem and itchy buildup until I stopped putting heavy oils on my scalp. Now that I started using light oils like jojoba, my scalp is way happier. I put the least amount possible and it's a good alternative to natural sebum.
Use probiotics in your diet and watch your sugar intake. Dandruff is caused by a yeast overgrowth in your body. It will decrease over time.
Nikki Lopé try Shea moisture black castor oil shampoo and conditioner. These will prevent dandruff and will grow hair immediately and gives silk texture and slip to hair
Same. 3 days after wash day it’s so itchy and flaky. Adding water and oils makes it worse.
I tried the Scooping and Spreading method 2 days ago and my hair has never been so untangled and happy in its entire existence 😍
I m loving it it's like having a moment of communication with my hair 😍 Can't thank you enough for the Noble work that you do. You're the best 🤩👏🏽
For people who don’t have a lot of sebum drinking a lot of water and exercising helps produce more oils.
+ castor oil is similar to sebum.
I thought Jojoba oil was similar to sebum.
I don't think I have any sebum. Like none. My scalp is positively arid. If I put oil on my scalp, the oil will be gone in two days.
I’m the same way. Daily I spritz with water and fenugreek, and I must add an oil, or my hair will break off.
I'm so happy! Not only is this the best natural hair channel but we have similar hair type.
Personally, I get "full coverage" on day one by carefully massaging my ends ON my scalp (moving in one direction only), spreading the sebum and repeating. I'd rather they be fully covered then work my way up. Just a tip for everyone 🤗
Great idea! Thanks for sharing.

I love this channel! I have learned so much from this young lady. I love that she does her research.
The best natural hair channel I've ever seen so far.... #healthy hair
Much love sis, keep it up💕
I understand this is a method for people who have sensitive skin and allergies.
I LOVE how informative you are and how you incorporate visuals! It makes it so much better

Can you share your washing routine please? I’ve been scared to use Castile soap cause I was told it leaves too much buildup on hair.
Your videos are so educational and informative. I will have to give this method a try, as always thanks for sharing!
Very soothing voice. Keep up the good work!
Shans bo from what I can tell. It seems she only uses oil and a spritz. So no build up I guess?
I love how you give great info and the videos are long. Thank you Valerie
Thank you for all the hair videos, but please can you do a full wash day video (from detangling to post washing). Thank you
This sounds good and all but I need products! I’m gonna stick to shampooing and co washing my hair!
I LOVE Green Beauty (such an intelligent sister), but I gotta agree with you on this one. I workout hard 5-6 times a week and don't know that it'd be healthy not to wash out that sweat routinely, Although I have been considering doing ACV rinses after my workout twice a week..
Yeah when you have a build up nope need shampoo. And especially when I work out.
I don't know about all the sessions🤔....And yes I definitely need products...
@@GreenBeauty oh okay I'll try and see it does make since I don't know if I can go a whole month but we will see.
Sounds like a plan. I do use less product, so implementing your technique sounds like a go, girl! Thank-You💕

I’ve been doing this for quite some time in braids. But I don’t use my nails at all. Just spray rose water, massage and run the sebum (which I can easily feel) down my new growth. But, I do this almost daily so my hair doesn’t get dry. And I get minimal webbing of my roots.
Do you dilute your rose water?

Excellent presentation, very informative, professional and beautiful.
I'm gonna give this a go! I wanna get over this plateau length. I'd adjust to fortnights rather than monthly washing though. I wash in tight braids focussing on my scalp which keeps my hair nicely stretched and means I can still limit blowdrying to once per month, max.
Intelligent , eloquent and informative, keep it up! ❣️

I learned so much from you. I really enjoyed your hair typing videos. I learned that the curl pattern and the tightness is what really defined my hair better. I learned that my son and I both have O shaped curl pattern and it's very tight , it shrinks up just like mine but 70%
This was awesome. Made a lot of traditional haircare techniques make much more sense.
I can’t help noticing how lovely your nails look x
You are so amazing. Worth waiting every day! Thank you for all the info you provide us! ♥️
Thank you🙏💯💪👍😊
I’m glad it works for you I just can’t spread dirt throughout my hair for months.
This is so well detailed I understood everything you said, thank you so much you just earned a subscriber 🙌
Very good video I will do this your videos are always informative 😁 only thing is I wish my hair was thick.
do a video on hair grease (petrolatum/petroleum) pls
Yasmine M.P.R false. grease molecules are too big to clog pores, its a myth. petroleum and petrolatum are used in skin products , even a staple in hospitals. i use it on my hair and i have never had a problem, in fact , i retain moisture a lot better and my split ends have stopped , single strand knots too. i retain length a lot better , have gone from shoulder length to bra strap length really quick (a little under a year). my hair is soft and detangles easy now, mind you i have 4c hair. i wash my hair once a week.
She already did. Look through her videos about greasing your scalp.
BrythingRoom thanks but im talking about grease to seal your strands with, not just the scalp.
Vasty A., aloe vera seals the hair.
Deebull it dries out my skin and hair. hair grease works for me.
Wow!!!! This is amazing! Thank you so much for teaching us!
God bless you for creating these amazing video. I am learning so much about my hair and it’s truly amaze. Some of the things you mentioned ive been doing but i stopped.
Girl I needed this video
After washing and deep conditioning I definitely wear my hair like that for at least 2 weeks before I rock a twist out and it's time to wash and deep condition again. I don't use heat to stretch. I use bobby pin to style and stretch.
Hmmm this made me want to look into the science behind sebum and people with dry skin and scalp.
