Thank you so much for the rhubarb soap suggestion! It’s fun using a pH sensitive colorant. After 4 weeks, the soaps are still the magenta red you see in the final photos. I haven’t tried the other Botanical Colors Himalayan rhubarb (Rheum emodi) yet, but I’ll post a photo to my community feed as soon as I do. Thanks so much for watching! -Holly :)
I am new to all this but absolutely love soap making. I am losing my job in July and am hoping I can just have fun with this a create. I absolutely love watching your videos. This all started because I was trying to eliminate plastic and unnecessary ingredients in the products our family uses. It has become very additive and I just love it. I love how the soaping community is so friendly, helpful, and encouraging. I hope to learn and be able to create like you do.
Because I love your soaps I made this recipe, mine with Goat’s milk, I heated up in the oven, 120F for 2 hours and it turned so dark! I hope it gets little when cures. I always watch your videos, I’ve order one of your T-shirt, thank you for time, thanks for sharing Holly!
My order for Himalayan rhubarb powder arrived today and I am so flipping excited! I showed my gamer son your video and he said you have a really relaxing voice 🥰
What an absolute delight! I just made this wonderful soap. It is now CPOP-ing in the oven. Although I used my own soaping recipe, to see the lye solution and the infused oils come together and create MAGIC is a real treat. Thank you, Holly, for sharing this soaping jewel.
I actually have the Yarn Tree rhubarb and had already infused it in oil. I tried making soap with it a year ago but it was a subtle color with speckles in it. I need to try it again and use the whole thing for my soap loaf and strain it so it’s smooth like yours! Will keep you updated:) Thank you so much!
Beautiful. I’m so glad you made this video. All the groups tell you not to use it because it will turn brown in cp soap. Hmm, maybe it was a secret they were keeping for themselves.
I tried this!! I used the Himalayan Rhubarb from The Yarn Tree. I love this color!!! And I love how magically the lye solution turns it all a glorious red!!! Thank you!!!
That was a really, really, really nice presentation. I love how you compared three different powders and did before gel and after gel comparisons. Thank you for being so careful to provide links to other soaping sources. What a beautiful red color!
Wow that video was very informative! It’s funny cause I was just reading lovely greens article Himalayan Rhubarb Soap Recipe. Her soaps are beautiful and the red is to die for. I’d rather use natural colors instead of MICAS. Thanks for your videos !!
Holly I just made my soap it was so fascinating watching the changes, ever tried taking photos with non dominant hand whilst mixing in gloves crazy, it’s a beautiful bright deep cherry red now in the oven CPO ing I added I tbs kaolin to hopefully help the essential oil last. I used Essential oils Frankincense & Cedarwood but had to resort to Fragrance Lavender as my Essential oil hasn’t arrived in time. I’m still learning on fragrances but this combo smelt good so hoping it lasts. Thanks again to you and beautiful Tanya.
I love himalayan rhubarb! Please try it after infusing for 4 weeks as about 30-35% of your oils to get a pastel pink colour!!!! Remember to only use to the undisturbed yellow oil from the top of the infusion to get pastel pink! I love the deep burgundys and reds and coral colours you got, such beautiful soap. Btw this recipe is very much like my main recipe only i use less shea and more cocoa butter and a tad more olive oil.
Holly I have a rhubarb powder infusion nearly ready to use, thanks also to Tanya, your video is very timely and now I hope my powder produces such a beautiful red as the main one here, what an amazing colour. Interesting to see the difference when added to lye water, I was so impatient I nearly did the same but held off. Always great to find a new Holly video when I wake. Thanks as always Holly.
What a beautiful video! You have absolutely inspired me to try this infusion method on my own to make beautiful soaps on my own drying racks. Thank you so much for your time and your creativity!❤️🥰😊
I love your voice!!! Your videos are so informative, and spa-like at the same time. The music is an added bonus. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience.
This is a stand out video that was so fun to watch! I'm saving it and will likely do what I always do with my favorites---watch it about 10 times. You've not only presented real and useful information, but have inspired me to try to make it again. I previously used a cold infusion with a pink result, but now I will try heat infusion with your concentration. Will also try adding to lye water as this is an interesting result too. Thank you Holly.
I just made this week a beautiful red from Anne Georges Himalayan rhubarb powder. Oh my it is amazing. I do love your comparison of the three different vendors for the powder. As Always thank you Holly for sharing with others. Jan
This video help me out so much. I am doing my experiments to find out what would give me a red color soap. Thanks so much. I make soap with natural colors. I love them going to try it
I have the Starwest Botanicals one. And your right, adding it as a powder to the soap batter creates an almost brick color. Thankfully it kinda worked for the soap I was making. (Candy cane swirl). It gave it a Victorian Christmas look. I can’t cpop my soap to make the most of natural colorants. The best I can do is insulate.
Hello Holly, I greatly admire your work! Thank you for your calming and detailed videos. I'd like to ask if it would be possible to reuse the rhubarb powder, as you showed in another video with the indigo powder, for achieving a lighter colour. Thank you in advance !❤😊
Thank you very informative. How do you know how much oil infusion to use per pound of soap . Is there a ratio or is completely safe to use at 100%. Thank you doe the video. It’s so pretty can’t wait to try.
I only use botanical colourants, rhubarb is one I haven't tried. Alkenate is a stunning ruby when infused with oil but it's pH sensitive and goes lavender in the soap.
Hi Holly, thank you so much for making this video, I was anxiously waiting for it because I wanted to see how it turned out before I used my rhubarb power and now I see 😃🥰, I love it! I purchased the Starwest Botanical one, so now I am excited to see how mine turns out, I can't wait to make it now lol!! I like the middle one you made the best, hopefully I can get some of that one. Your soaps do come out so shiny and pretty, do you steam them? I kinda liked the the one you put the powder in the lye, but, the others are the prettiest . When I make mine I will let you know how it turned out 😊. Stay safe sweet lady. 🙂💞
Thank you for the suggestion! 💕 I do sometimes steam the soaps, but for these photos, I just spent a lot of time cleaning them up. Then I polished them a little with a piece of nylon (like hosiery nylon) so they looked nice for the photos. Definitely let me know how yours turns out! I'm sure they'll be beautiful! 💕
Your recipe is so glossy looking. I love it! I'm definitely going to oven process my next soap to see how it goes. Your videos are always so helpful and that red came out beautiful. ❤️
Hi Holly 👋 this is so lovely 😍 but curious if for a future video you could possibly make a soap @ a 1.1 water lye ratio and if given the right balance of fatty acids and temp on the recipe 😀 a intricate design can be achieved? Lol this is some what like a challenge. Would love to see that! All the best 👍
Why not try it yourself, experiment. Vibrant Soap man Clyde, beautiful man, says “try everything”, the learning will edify you for the future whatever the result. ☀️✨💫
If you add botanical powders to the lye water, you will burn it and the colour won’t be vibrant but a brown. Best not to add to lye water. Add to oils and wait until your lye water has cooled down before adding to your oils. That will ensure vibrancy. The rhubarb colour is absolutely mouth watering delicious and lush.
Hi Holly, you asked me to let you know how my rhubarb power soap turned out, I liked the botanical one from Amazon, but it didn't turn out as red and pretty, so I ordered some from Yarn Tree, I haven't tried it yet but I am anxious to do so soon lol, I will let you know soon as I do, I've just been really busy. 😊💞
I used rhubarb as well.. It's such a pretty colour whatever the kind 😍 Your wodden soap mold..is it DIY ? It looks simple and practical 😁 Would love ti make my own
Love your videos! Have you tried Anne George's rhubarb powder? I have that brand but the color faded after a while but I didn't use that strong of a oil infusion as you did. Thank you for your lovely videos
Thank you! Yes, I do occasionally get ash on top. I find that using a water discount (35% lye concentration) helps and also letting the soap stay covered (keeping out any fresh air before saponification is complete). If I use a 33% or 31% lye concentration (more water), I'll almost always leave the soap covered for at least 2 days.
Hello Holly i am wanting to do a soap this color but with pomegranate juice instead of water do you think i would still be able to cpop it? or would it get too hot due to sugar in juice? i think the rhubarb will make the perfect color for pom soap. ty
I may be missing it but I don't see the fragrance oil you used. What a beautiful color in all of your testing!!!!!!!!!! I love the deep jewel toned burgundy colors you ended up with after sharing your trials. Loving your channel so much!
Thank you so much!! It's a Lavender Cedarwood essential oil blend. In case you want the percentages (also listed down below the video), here's the exact blend: Lavender - 45% Lavandin - 25% Cedarwood - 30% I normally add 10% Patchouli to this blend but didn't want it to interfere with the color, so I left it out. :)
New subbie here🤗. May I ask where you got your soap mold or did you make it? Not sure if you mentioned where you bought it in previous videos. I also checked your equipment list and did see anything there. Thanks for your response.
I just find your video this week, all your video is woderfull. May i know the size of mold soap? My brother is carpenter so i would like to make it. Thank you for all your information

Holly, I get so much inspiration with your videos, and I relax just watching them. Thank you so much for being so generous.

Thanks for sharing I tried this from lovely greens she is such a sweet special person
Simply beautiful!
Thank you for sharing your experiments!
Thank you for such valuable information! I would never have thought that brown macerate could become red soap. It's a miracle!
I think. If you strain the speckles would go
OH my goodness it turned out so gorgeous, lovely and nourishing looking.
I love the Yarn Tree's Rhubarb it's so beautiful.

Absolutely gorgeous Holly, best natural red I have ever seen! Thanks for sharing 👏
Very nice, great natural red color.
Thank you so much for trying and sharing my soap recipe :) Himalayan Rhubarb is one of the most beautiful soap colorants I've ever used ❤🧼
Wow Tanya, great find!
Thank you, Tanya! I'm such a huge fan of your website and really appreciate all the amazing information you provide. 💕
That was a really, really, really nice presentation. I love how you compared three different powders and did before gel and after gel comparisons. Thank you for being so careful to provide links to other soaping sources. What a beautiful red color!
?????
What a very lovely red and it's natural! I can't wait to try it myself.
Thank you so much Holly. This is one of the prettiest reds I have ever seen. Better than any mica, that's for sure.
Wow that video was very informative! It’s funny cause I was just reading lovely greens article Himalayan Rhubarb Soap Recipe. Her soaps are beautiful and the red is to die for. I’d rather use natural colors instead of MICAS. Thanks for your videos !!

Wow that red is so beautiful! Thank you so much for your presentation and information! 💞
This is beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing. I hope to try this recipe. Blessings to you 😊
Soooo pretty!! 🌟
What a wonderful red colour for your bars. I'd never thought of using rhubarb powder. Definitely worth trying. 😍 😍
Wow what a beautiful color, nicely done, would have never thought of rhubarb as a colorant 🙏
What a lovely color! Definitely going to try this.
I love your video. Very relaxing!! The soap turned out beautiful. The red was amazing!! Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful! I will be trying this soon - my oil is infusing as I type. Please let us know if it turns brown after a while.
Is gorgeus !
Thank you!🤗💚❤️
Gosh that is really beautiful Holly 🥰
Thank you!
Hi Holly, what a beautiful soap! Does it create colored lather or leave any stains on the washcloth?
Thank you! The soaps produce a white lather, and I had no issues with stains on cloth.
Your recipe is so glossy looking. I love it! I'm definitely going to oven process my next soap to see how it goes. Your videos are always so helpful and that red came out beautiful. ❤️

So in order to get the beautiful pinkish color the powder has to be infused?
