I'm from Montana and I actually agree that huckleberry ice cream should be our state dish tbh. They actually did a good job with that one. Huckleberry ice cream is amaaaaazing! You can get some from the Tillamook brand, which is pretty good but getting it from a local store that sells actual hand picked huckleberries and drops them in is a whole new experience.
Alabama man here. White barbecue sauce is a vinegar-based sauce unlike almost all barbecue sauces which are tomato sauce based. If you’re ever in the north Alabama area try it out. It’s unique and pretty damn good too.

OK, wasn't expecting that for Cincinnati chili. Deadspin made a list of state foods in 2013 that also included Washington, D.C. and "getting hit by a car" and Cincinnati chili was ranked #52. But yeah, it's at least A-tier for sure, especially with the mountain of cheese and some hot sauce for extra tartness and a little heat. "Good in the Taco Bell sort of way" is a really good way of explaining it.

The Italian version was not called pizza until after the American version. It was popular among soldiers in Italy during WW2 and they wanted it back in America so it became its own dish. Nobody tells them about the Chicken Perm which is also American or they will start crying and act like they invented that as well.
