there is also the option to make the text larger in settings, which now with newer versions has expanded range of options like other ease of access settings. Or also reducing the screen resolution forces the computer to display larger menu bars, but these result in smaller working space as the menus take up a lot of the screen and you have to scroll around, and they are not as quick to adjust or turn off if you wish
Ctrl+alt and the scroll will and also ctrl+alt and click to read the text so you can use ctrl+alt as the main shortcut to make everything bigger and also to listen to any text on the screen when you need to do so. Just hold ctrl+alt then the will to magnify then keep holding ctrl+alt then click to listen 👂 to text i very easy for me this way to onli use control+alt as the main buttons to listen and to magnify. Hope it helped. Keep up the good work Sam!
Yes, you’re absolutely right. I didn’t include the extra keyboard commands in the video because I simply wanted to illustrate that using Windows magnifier is more helpful than simply adjusting things locally. I’ve talked about the keyboard commands in my dedicated Windows magnifier videos. I also have the increase and decrease magnification commands mapped to the thumb buttons on my mouse, so I often don’t think about the keyboard commands anymore.
Hey Sam. Thank you buddy for those sir awesome video!! Not only will this help me out, but I have a friend that I believe would be helped by this video also. Hope you and the family are doing well and staying safe and healthy. Sending lots of love to you all!
I like they added the ability with magnifier to hold ctrl and alt and then you can scroll to zoom in and out. Also hold the same keys and click on text to start it reading.
I totally agree, I prefer using magnification than ctrl + mouse wheel, except for zooming on pictures in browser. For information, magnification zoom is available on linux but the shortcut depends on the distribution. For Fedora it's Alt + super + 8 to start, then Alt + super + - or + to zoom in / out. (super key = windows key on keyboards)
Thanks so much for this Sam! I had no idea about the Windows button being used like this! I also didn't know about using the scroll wheel for local enlarging. I had always used ctrl and +/-. Your videos have really helped with so much since discovering your channel a few months ago!
Thank you Sam; I was just trying to make the icons on my HP STREAM notebook larger and you've just thought me how and where to go to do that. Great video.
JAWS and MAGic arre two great screen magnifier/screen reader programs. I personally used to use the built-in magnifier on my computer, but my vocational rehab worker showed me these products and they were extremely beneficial. These programs might be a good topic to cover next time you make a video on magnification.
Thank you. I have Mac D and I interviewed for a job and it was so disappointing and apparent how much my sight has been impaired when it comes to reading the computer screen in a buisiness setting. Thank you for sharing this information because I think if I enlarge my screen this way I will not need a magnifying screen overlay. If I do, can you recommend a good one? Thank you. Em
Sam thanks a lot for all of your channel content. I was looking for this kind of content in Spanish but I didn’t find much information. I have Stargardt disease and only use Apple products with accessibility. Do you use Mac or iPhone or prefer to use Windows and Android all the time? Which one is better when it comes to using accessibility for visual impairment? Thank you.
I am a Windows PC user but also have an iPad pro. For phones I have a Samsung galaxy S 10+ and an iPhone XS max. Even though I have those Apple products, I’m definitely a Windows and android user at heart. I’ve made several videos on the topic of which is better for the VIP, android or iOS. So I would recommend checking out those videos. I’m also going to be doing a live stream on the live accessible UA-cam channel in about two weeks where we will be discussing that topic.
Sam, I use zoomtext; however the latest visions are not stable. Is that why you use the built in windows features? Also I didn’t know about the built in features. I’m mindblown! Can you change the shortcut on the windows built in feature, like maybe use shift and mouse wheel? Also is there an invert color feature? Many thanks my friend. I’m a long time viewer and a big fan. Ps: I have an 8 hr license exam this year. I’m having an interesting adventure making it accessible for myself and thought I wanna share my experience with the rest VIP community. Maybe you can feature the blind civil engineer :)
hello Sam thank you for that but I also use a free app that I found called system font size changer and you can actually enlarge all the fonts without actually changing the webpages combine with the system changes that you show I find this is absolutely perfect for me as I suffer with central areolar ,choroidal dystrophy
My particular issue is, no matter what I do, the very first thing I have to do on every startup of my system is run ClearType otherwise the text is distorted say like between my top three used programs, Windows, Google Chrome and Discord. Is there something I could do to avoid doing that and just proceed with my desired programs running (depending on what they are I’ll switch between windows magnifier and ZoomText) and continuing about my tasks?
On my updated Win 10, windows key+ brings up the magnifier rectangle that moves with the cursor. It does not seem to work like yours. Thanks for great videos. Btw, I have a response from Microsoft saying they are working on Seeing AI for Android. Milt
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH !! I AM 88 YRS OLD, AND HAVE AN ONLINE RESALE BUSINESS, YOU HAVE ADDED SO MUCH TO MY ABILITY TO CONTINUE. 🥰
