What do you guys think about these Heavy Hitters? Do you own one and if so, how has it held up? Are you thinking about buying one and if so which one? Let me know! You guys are awesome!
Swiss Cheese & Beats I own the slim pad with a laminate and it is the best bang for one’s buck! I have two other pads with laminates and rims, but I still break out the slim pad occasionally. My slim pad has long outlasted my Xymox reserve snare pad that I’ve had since 2016. It is the best marching pad for under $50!
I take it you don’t have the laminate correct? I would try using a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Those tend to do a good job on surfaces that don’t fully cooperate.
Romo is straight genius. He wrote just about all of our battery music at wheeler and taught there for a bit of my freshman year. Been using these pads forever cause they have the best sound and feel. Great review!
I have the slim pad and I basically use it as a travel/chop-builder pad - love it. My go-to pad is an offworld invader v3, but the slim pad is better suited for traveling (like he said, fits in most backpacks). Might end up grabbing a stock pad in the near future so I can travel with something that has a little more stick response. DEFINITELY grabbing some laminates :)
I bought the First version Vic Firth released in 2004 I think, the paint chipped a lot but that thing is still going. I’ve been impressed with these new designs, and compared to a lot of pads these days they are very lightweight. I can’t abide by a pad that weighs more than a collage textbook...
Nice man! I’d love to see a picture of that! These feel good, and I’m totally with you on the weight. I don’t want to feel like I’m carrying an actual drum! Hahaha.
I really wonder if Bill or Vic Firth has an idea of creating another heavyhitter snare pad that has the thickness between the stockpad and the slimpad(thinner than the stockpad but thicker than the slimpad. Just in the middle). Or creating a double sided heavy hitter pad(stock and slimpad combined)
Hey hey...that’s the pad I use! I’m actually waiting to get the rubber pad in, so I can review both. When it comes in, I’ll put them on the list for sure!
Mad chops bro! (Coming from someone who marched snare for 2 years in high school). I love that excerpt! Where can I find it to learn it? Also, thanks for the review
System Blue snare review? Everyone hates on them and no one has really done an unboxing and review on one. I do understand they are pretty expensive. But you would be the first UA-cam channel to do a review and would get quite a bit of views my friend.
okay you brought up sticks and you said it was the best stick name. id just like to say, my names colin, i would some sticks and i bought them bc they were named Colin McNutt, yeah ik very immature and by this you can obviously tell i’m in a highschool marching band, well i was showing the drumline the name and i let my drum captain play them and fast forward a couple months, we’re using them for our show at comps
Could you possibly review the aerofactor f1 precision accuracy pad, Offworld satellite, moongel pad, Offworld scojo v3, ahead 14in carbon fiber pad, ahead 3 zone workout pad, ahead drum Corp pad white hard surface.
Np tbh I have the same habit of buying too many pads but every surface is different. I’m personally been inspired by your videos it’s a real honor to have someone else’s opinion and objections on pads. You’ve made me create a decision on which one to get thank you very much means a lot considering I’m only a sophomore in high school
I like the laminate but after seeing that Frank Sanchez did what you just said about cutting the laminate in half....I think it’s smart! I’d probably put it on in a place where I have an “edge” in both the covered and non-covered areas.
really good, professional review...I have an Evans Real Feel pad and like it a lot...however I am thinking about picking one of these up since my favorite youtube drum teacher Bill Bachman uses it...thanks
I’ve had my slim pad for maybe 6 years and I choose it over every other pad and the only problem I’ve had is the rubber in the very outside of the pad is becoming loose from the glue I guess but it’s still a great pad
I bought one and I instantly loved it. I'm using it as a snare in a practice drum. Which pad would you put as a floor tom next to a Heavy hitter? I have a small Jawbreaker by Meinl (I'm using it as a rack tom) and I'm trying to buy another one but in 12". But I still can't find it. Do the real feel by Evans would be a good choice? Thank you!
Hey Daniel I’m interested in purchasing a heavy hitter stock pad but I have one question. When you were demonstrating the sound test on it, it kinda had like a dead sound when you played on your left hand. Was that just and error or does the pad not have a matched sound from hand to hand like some other pads?
The pad is pretty solid. If you get too far from the center or aren't playing with perfectly matched pitch, you'll hear a difference. But I have no complaints about the sound. Hope that helps!
@@HypeTheClean Really great playing. And interesting too, you hold the sticks in a different way to pipe band drumming (I have recently started learning) And your rolls are very different lol I bought the slimpad as its most applicable for the very tight heads of pipe band snares...its awesome, a much better feel than the far softer pad I used initially. Have also ordered a laminate, so I thank you for the really helpful review on it :)
Omg I just got a slim pad but here’s the thing, I was at wgi finals about to perform when I picked one of these up and I asked for the slim pad. I didn’t find out until after UD closed and they gave me a stock pad which I was trying to avoid, because it’s pretty much the same thing as the regular double sided Vic pad
I lean toward the Slim Pad with the laminate-increased articulation. Nowadays I lean toward my Ram Pad Pro. Great pad with rebound for miles. Also like the Offworld Byosphere, although I will say it is a LOUD pad. Great for posting videos though.

It’s a work horse! That seems to be the consensus around here.

you look like a more musical markiplier
Hahaha. Maybe I can kind of see that? Not sure. Ha! Thanks for watching!!!
Markiplier played trumpet soooo
@@Webical Mark didn’t pursue a career in music so Daniel would indeed be a “more musical markiplier”
I have the old school slim pad. I cut the laminate in half to get both responses. It's nice to have choices. :-)
Smart Frank!!! Didn’t even think about doing that! Nice!!
Stock Pad 7:49----------Stock Pad with Laminate 10:28
Slim Pad 8:40----------Slim Pad with Laminate 11:19
It’s like you read the minds of drummers who can’t make up their minds on what to buy! You truly are doing a service to us all
Thanks so much! Appreciate you watching very much!

I own a xymox snare pad
But whenever I see one of these I do not hesitate to play on the
Probably will be getting some later this year lol
Hahahaha. I always think I need to buy a new pad. Never enough!
Dude on the history lesson I kinda knew because I'm 17 born in 2000 haa 2000 people where are you 😄😄😄😄

I march for Romo at Atlanta CV lol. I've had both the stock pad and slim pad since 9th grade except my stock pad split in half after a lot of abuse.
HHahah. “Abuse”
Yooooooooooooooo I see that ludwig kit back there, cleeeeaaaan

Do a Billy club review dude!!!
Your vote is noted my friend!
Are you gonna review the Tenor pad? I'd to see some love for tenor players!
Very possible!!!
where could i find sheet music for excerpt?
Good question. I don’t have it myself. Perhaps someone on here can help???
Check out the off world percussion v3 snare pad
I’ll see what I can do!
Can you please review the innovative percussion black corps practice pad next?
Hey hey...that’s the pad I use! I’m actually waiting to get the rubber pad in, so I can review both. When it comes in, I’ll put them on the list for sure!
Thanks

It’s a Phantom 2008/UNT 2010 excerpt. Not sure where or if any music is posted anywhere.
Love your videos man, there awesome
When you mention the Billy Club I was going scream OOOOOOUUUU BILLY 😍😂😂 because I own the billy clubs and they are good for Tenors and Snare 😀😀
Hahahahahah! Nice!

They’re on the list. Promark was kind enough to send me some to do just that! It’s coming! Thanks so much for watching!
Whoops...I meant the Stick Review. The snare...that’s gonna take a little work. Hahaha.
Yeah I know. I just saw the dynasty drum review and saw that you did drum reviews. I do understand though DRUMS ARE EXPENSIVE😂
I’ll send them your request. The worst they can say is no. Hahha
Swiss Cheese & Beats keep me posted.

Great video dude and have you ever thought about doing anything tenor related? But keep up the good work!
Thanks so much! Definitely have been thinking about it. Thanks for watching. Appreciate it!!!
Hello there! How loud is the stock pad compared to the evans realfeel? Does anybody know? Thanks!!!
I wish I still went to Marcus Hs where bill bachman is currently a tech
I think the slim is earbleedingly loud so I'll probably get the stock pad
What's the difference between the two?
Are these pads suitable for pipe band drumming as well?
..........okay, you can just go ahead and post a video of the full excerpt, that'd be great thanks. (bless our ears please)
HAHAHAHA. You’re too kind! 😂😂
Are the Laminates worth the buy?
Review start : min. 4:50

I feel your pain on buying too many pads! Hahaha. I appreciate your support and you watching very much!
What excerpt did he play?
I think I'm gonna get a stock pad and cut the laminate in half. Would you recommend the laminate or not?
I like the laminate but after seeing that Frank Sanchez did what you just said about cutting the laminate in half....I think it’s smart! I’d probably put it on in a place where I have an “edge” in both the covered and non-covered areas.
Swiss Cheese & Beats maybe right down the middle vertically
Possibly. It will effect a shot in one place or another (right or left hand) so be aware of that before putting it on.
Swiss Cheese & Beats that's true
Yo you won’t believe this but I’m a student of Romo’s and he lives on my street!
Hahahha!! Crazy small world! Stay warm man! I hear it’s cold!!!!!
Honestly, I've never seen anyone use the billy club! No schools in bakersfield use them, neither do any drum corps I know of!
Nathan Coronel ayyyyy I’m from Bakersfield
Which is quieter
Stock pad
7:50. 8:42
Which ones better for marching snare
Either will suffice!
Daniel Asgari thank you
I was born in 01 lol
Hahaha! Figured that would be a reaction for some.
LOL me too dude
Actually when you're playing you really should.... Just messing with you! Those rolls are ridiculous!!

Thats a nice return on that investment for sure! Possibly an easy fix too? I’d call that pretty standard wear and tear. Thanks for watching!!!
I personally love these pads, top 3 along with invader and real feal

And yes a billy club stick review would be sickkk! And which brand of stick do you prefer? I personally prefer Salyers Percussion:)
what stand are you using? My stand is too small and I need one that can hold that pad.
which drum has better rebound
The stockpad id day.
Daniel Asgari thank you!

Heavy hitters.
Are you sticks not pitch matched or is that like a pad thing I've noticed it with my pads anyway you're a beast
Probably me hitting in different spots on the pad. Old man hands!!!! 🤣🤣👍👍

Hey previous percussion director of our school
Preety good video
Thanks!
Man, this was a trip down memory lane. Thanks for the vid.

What the hell is that excerpt you're playing. It's so familiar and bothering the shit out of me... is it SCV???
It’s from the Phantom 07 Show. Nice catch!
Thats it! I knew it was Rennick...
I thought the same thing
Thought it was scv I love rennicks writing
