I mean I know valorant and apex dont really have much in common but valorant have stopped almost all cheaters, they get banned after a game or 2, even if they use arduino cheats, thats due to their anticheat, its really good.

The ALC bleed over bug has been around forever and they can't fix it. If they can't fix a bug that applies to aim settings, then I think it's fair to say the game is broken before hackers even touch it.
Don't get me started on the bug to revert the matchmaking to zero so you only get low levels. I'm not talking about going into a game and dying. You can literally reset the matchmaking from the main screen.
I don't even commit real time to finding bugs. I just stumbled onto theses two bugs casually. I can't imagine what's out there that I don't know about.
But more than likely Respawn does not have the abilty to modify the code to fix a lot of bugs, and/or they don't have programmers with the abilty to do that. I heard they had a massive brain drain because of their horrible working conditions, so I am inclined they don't have programmers with the skill to fix any real issues.

there's no way to stop hackers, they exist in every game, but it's so easy to make cheats for apex
u just paste very basic ioctl and u can inject dlls and read memory using it and theres currently a lot of open source linux hacks that allow easy memory manipulation
u can make very insane anticheat like vanguard for example, but its still gonna be cracked just give it time
the only way to stop hackers currently is improve anticheat and server side anticheat because again, its so easy to make hacks for this game
also u could probably scan programs for memory addresses it scans like byfron does and make it harder to dump offsets, since u can just rename apex to easyanticheat executable and dump them using scylla. and it seems like its impossible to detect memory manipulation on linux so just stop linux support, since u can just dual boot
apex is gonna be dead anyway, they don't update core features of the game, they don't add anything new but skins. this game will never be the same. they need more developers, they need to revive this game to get its players back which they can't, since they fired most developers, THEY NEED MORE DEVELOPERS and THEY fucking FIRE THEM

You never heard of the undetectable cheats in Valorant, that use image detection and an arduino to alter your mouse movements for cancelling recoil or giving you humanized aimbot? You won't have wallhacks without a proper dual pc dma card setup, but this little arduino aimbot setup will cost you around the same as a cronus zen. You are technically unable to detect the arduino, because it will simply spoof your mouse - the usb protocol simply hasn't enough possibilities to prevent this. You would need a fully certificated hardware chain of trust. Not even consoles with officially licensed controllers are able to implement this, for the pc you would probably at first develop a new protocol for input devices. It doesn't matter at all if it is Linux, Windows, userspace anticheat or kernel level anticheat, no one is able to prevent cheating at the moment.
Serverside anticheat is the only hope right now and i really hope Valve solves this problem. But please stop blaming Linux for a problem, that every game has right now. And don't believe all the crap, that kernel level anticheat developers wan't you to.
If you are more interested in this topic, UA-cam has some very good videos about it, which also explain the technical background. Kernel level anticheat is not your friend, they just bamboozle you into believing that this works.

Wait so basically ur saying that apex won’t be fixed even if they add a new engine?

    • @anonapache
      @anonapache 5 місяців тому

@@insta8510 It simply can't. It's true, that a new engine would fix many issues of Apex, but mostly quality of life ones like audio, stuttering, performance etc. And maybe it would fix the most obvious rampant methods, that cheaters use. It's also true, that the source engine branch, that Apex uses, is based on the Titanfall branch, that itself stems from the Portal 2 version. But the engine today is already heavily altered and optimized, you can find out more about this on the official developer documentation of Valve. They improved on multithreading, rendering and many other things. You can read the last 5 or so patchnotes of Apex, to find out they are ramping up the development of the engine pretty hard, even after all these years. The dx12 beta is by far one of the biggest projects in this area. I really hope but also would guess, the sound engine will be the next thing they will swap out. Apex still uses the really old miles audio engine, which has a limited amount of audio channels. This results atm in the audio issues, because it's complex af to choose which sound cues to prioritize if hell is letting loose. I really don't think they will reimplement the game with a completely new engine, even not source 2, because they would've wasted all the development budget on improving their engine branch. I strongly believe they will (and i guess already did) work together with Valve to port specific features, modules etc. from the source 2 branch into the Titanfall branch (it's still the official name, even if used in Apex) and this is definitely possible. The miles audio engine is just a used module; they already developed and use the new rendering interface RHI, that is the same for all platforms and if i understand it correctly is already used for the standard dx11 pipeline and the dx12 beta pipeline; the source engine overall is really modularized.
The cheating issues on the engine side can only be tackled by implementing something similar like fog of war, so clients only have data about enemies, that they really need. This is mostly serverside hardening. I think Pirate Software is the best source for more information about such systems and also for more information about effective and sustainable tactics against cheaters overall.
A new engine will only introduce new problems, because the developer teams have way less experience with it. You did see this exact issue, when they introduced the new version of easy anti cheat, we had an increase of obvious rampant cheaters.
I know it sounds good to "just use a new engine", but the decisions, system engineering and development behind all of this are far more complex, than the majority of people is capable to understand at all.

EAC / BE are terrible anti-cheats to begin with. i give props to riot with their anti-cheat cause they actually care lmao. EAC is well documented on game hacking forums, a skid couid easily take that info and paste something together that surprisingly isn't detected right away. and linux is a whole different thing, might as well say there isnt any anti-cheat on apex legends for linux.
with byfron, to be honest they only scan for strings. just change your program's name or use one that isn't sig'd and your good.
