Pro tip from my granny: for a (seriously) burnt stainless steel pot or frying pan, just pour in a heaped tablespoon of baking/cleaning soda and add hot water (enough fully to cover the burnt part). Put to a boil, let it boil for about 10 minutes, and let it sit overnight. In the morning you can wipe it all away with a sponge or dish rag - no scrubbing. Works like a charm 😎
That’s a really good tip from your grandmother, I’ve used that method for about 50+ years, but I don’t remember exactly where I learned of it, but I know it works. The downside is that if you are cleaning a shallow pan like a skillet, it will tend to make your stove top a bit messy.
Yeah, my favorite is stainless steel too. I still use a set of Revere ware that I’ve had for over 40 years and they’ve outlasted everything else I’ve tried over the years.
@@rabbit3212010 Yes I'm aware of that. I was pointing out that there are other types of the product. They don't work as well because they're diluted with water. I prefer the powder as the video showed.
In the meantime, the brand name Lodge cast iron cookware makes a fantastic cleaner for enameled cast iron. You would never know my Le Creuset Dutch oven is as old as it is. It’s amazing stuff. Probably find it on Amazon.
I add a drop of dish soap and tap of baking soda when I boil the water in the pan to get the burnt bits off. Also works well in the instant pot for those times when you get the Burn notice.
@@tylerking231 do you know if that scratches metal pans ever? I’ve only used it inside my sink and it’s awesome for that. Would love other applications!
Cookies cook better on seasoned with stains baking sheet, so don't clean them. Talk to a baker who bakes for a living they will tell you not to clean your baking sheets.
I'm a department manager for Williams Sonoma. Been cleaning All-Clad cookware like this for years. If it's an 18-10 surgical grade stainless steel, keep the heat at medium or lower. Any build-up will remove easily with hot soapy water, or if needed, a little barkeepers friend. Top quality cookware makes a big difference.
I do the same with oily gunk. I just fill it up with soapy water for an hour and let it do the magic for me lifting up the grease off the pan. It's easier to wash afterwards.
I love my stainless steel pots and pans. They are by far my best cookware investment. I have had my set for 20+ years and they look they same as they did years ago.
Pour baking soda in your pan, cover in water, place on the stove, turn off heat when it boils. Wash as usual. Works like magic even for the worst burned pan.
Right? I grew up on non-stick frying pans so whenever I'm exposed to the steel ones the oil stains are a real pain to come out... when they do😅. Not so with my non-stick. That said, I do want to learn and conquer this new dimension though, hence I'm here 🫱🏻🫲🏾
Here too. I get rid of the aforementioned calciumspots with vinegar. Everytime i clean i use a little bit of vinegar added to the dishsoap. Kees the pans better than new😊
I do almost the same, only two differences are 1. I pour water as soon as all the food is off the pans while they’re still hot, and 2. I use the Bar Keepers friend specific for pots and pans. Their products sure work great huh?
I love my made-in knives 🔪🔪too. My mom bought me a set for my bday & they are SUPER sharp.. I've definitely had to use the cute band-aids 🩹 they included with the knives lol
Haha finally I see somebody else clean theirs like me. I also use the the bar keepers it great on all surfaces. Try it inside your oven too. Dollar Store sell it for about $1 or $2 great stuff and nice pans. 😊
Threw out my non-sticks and replaced them with a good old stainless steel set. I hate having to worry about scratching or ingesting non-stick material. Only downside is the oily residue when you deep fry something but that's still easy to remove.
for the eggs- i learned that drops of water in a hot pan should form little orbs that 'dance', and thats when its hot enough to cook eggs without sticking as much
Thank you for sharing! I was binge watching your stuff today and then thought "it would be cool to know what this person does/uses to clean their pots and pans". Do you have a routine for dish washing? Do you wash dishes after you eat, or before going to bed, etc? I am a 30 year old struggling to form routines to keep up with kitchen mess (and life mess) and wondering what you do in your life for that. Ps. Love your content ❤
Have had the same set of Wolfgang stainless pans for more then 2 decades and they are still great. I usually just deglaze them when I’m done to remove any extra stuck on garbage. Typically it’s not a lot because ripping hot oil doesn’t leave much to stick. I hate non stick pans they get destroyed and the evenness and quality is meh at best I use cast iron and stainless only. Cast iron is king imo mine are so well seasoned they are slicker then the best nonstick pans on the market and I can use a specific metal spatula from my childhood in them and it makes me happy being reminded of cooking with my mom.
Stainless steel is the best. I’ve been using my mom’s old farberware sets from the 1960s and for stuck on bits, you literally let it soak with some dish soap and water for a few hours, overnight for tough ones. Wipes off clean with a sponge.
I'd switch to the liquid barkeeper's friend any kind of powdered soft scrub will cake up and clog your drains, also you can take washing up soap mix with the water and boil it, I've done this alot and it's never failed me yet.
Simply ad some water to the used pan and (if using an electric stove) use the remaining heat after cooking to soak the stains with that warmed up water for later removal (a day later).
I love stainless steel, but mostly keep the pans on low or medium heat. Perfect for eggs and many Italian sauces. Imo they feel a little hard to manage at higher temperatures.
If you make sure to heat the pan until a little water beads up, you'll have a lot less sticking. It's nearly no stick when it's heated first. Just wipe out the water.
Yes I love my stainless steel pans. My question is how to clean the enameled cast iron pots like le creuset? The inside of mine is supposed to be creamy white and I can’t get out my stains.
I just said the same thing to another person. I have a Le Creuset dutch oven that I am determined to keep looking as new as possible to protect the investment. Lodge makes an excellent cleaner for enameled cast iron. I have no stains. Maybe it would also work on old stains. 🤷♀️ It wasn’t very expensive.
I am trying to ditch non stick and been reading a lot about what statin less steel to buy but your opinion (or any professional chef here). Which brand pan is yours if you don’t mind sharing?
Try seasoning used stainless steel. I didn't know it was possible to season stainless steel in the tried it the other day and it was amazing it was genuinely awesome and now before I cook anything that might stick I seasoned it beforehand and have zero sticking

Question: an old roommate burnt the hell out of my heavy bottom stainless years ago. We’re talking BLACK 3 inches up the inside and 2 inches up the outside kind of burnt. I scrubbed until it looked like new, and it’s been good since. The last couple weeks, it looks like the black is coming back through the bottom of the inside of the pot that I can NOT scrub away.. any ideas?? It still works great, but it drives me crazy 😣😣 I’m willing to try any and all tips here cause I feel like I’ve exhausted everything I can think of or find online! HELP!

If your oven has a self-cleaning function, put your baking sheets in there.

Vinegar works great too, natural and less deadly
I discovered this on accident while makin poached eggs. Doesn't even take much vinegar.
