Tarom had only one crash in all it's history which is impressive. The pilots are very experienced. In the past they used to serve really delicious food:chicken with sauce and stired up veggies plus bun-butter-jam and a little fruit. I see that they cut the size portions now and it's not as good as it used to be but it's still a hot meal and better than a cardboard tasting sandwich.
That’s an incredible safety record, it must be one of the best. That old menu sounds amazing, and this meal wasn’t that good, but as you say it was a full hot meal and was better than some serve, and definitely better than the budget airlines where you get nothing included in the fare.

I travelled with Tarom in the 70s and the flight attendants were like shot putters and acted like prison guards ordering us to eat sweets on take off, stay in our seats right through the flight etc 😂. It has obviously vastly improved 🙂🙂
New Zealand’s Covid response has been so effective that we’re bottom of the list to get vaccines, and I can’t see myself flying internationally until I’m vaccinated. We currently have an open travel corridor with Australia, but when outbreaks happen flights to and from different Australian states stop for a while, making travel for any reason other than family potentially problematic. But I’ve never had a request before and I’d like to oblige. I have footage from The Before Times that I will do next: WLG -> SYD on QF164. I hope that will do until I can get up in the air again.
TAROM has *some* entertainment. The advertised AirFi logo provides access to playlists of Romanian music and some shows from HBO and Cartoon Network. All you have to do is connect to the wifi network with your phone.
I've never flown Ryanair. I flew Aer Lingus once and was told afterwards that it's the flash one and Ryanair is even more budget, so I've not bothered... I have flown EasyJet a couple of times though, and they were OK.
