What’s up with Facebook Live Stream Audio?

- I get questions all the time about why Facebook’s live stream audio sounds weird. So what processing are they doing behind the scenes? They released a new codec for their audio inside their apps (Facebook and Instagram), but how different is it from the one used on their mobile site?

Brother man, this is such enlightening information_our live sound engineer creates beautiful mixes for the streaming mix, then fb ruins it. thank you for the wisdom.
I don't know what to say about this new CODEC. I get the impression that this new algorithm will make a good mix sound bad on the browser and there is nothing we can do to get the quality back. For now, I'm glad that we stream to UA-cam.
Following his broadcast mixing course helped us out tremendously on our stream quality. In the end, we ended up distilling out the "Why" from the course and dropping the "How" processes. Then using the "Why" knowledge we gleaned, we generated our own method that best fit our needs. Keep up the good work James!

Thank you sir for this.just wanna say when i go live on tiktok my sound is very clear compare to faceback i used focusrite interface with the headset buddy chord to my andriod but facebook is just something else.pleade is there any special equipment you would like me to try out for my facebook to be clear just as my tiktok.?
James, how can i get some new plugins into OBS for better processing?
We do nothing fancy because we don't have the staff. Two track right off the console via Sling. The audio ALWAYS sounds different between FB and UA-cam.

We live stream our services to Facebook and UA-cam. We are consistently having problems with some people not being able to hear anything at all. Checking with them individually, they are not muted there are no apparent settings that are hindering the video being heard. Videos from other sources have sound while ours does not. What could be going on that would keep some people from hearing while others are able to hear fine?
I have no clue. Have you reached out to Facebook about it?
Trust me the speed variations are ridiculous at times, and your worship leader is absolutely right in that.

Im at a loss as to why they just screw up the Audio so badly . I’d love if we could just go to UA-cam and be done with it .
I’ve cringed when listening to audio “ wobble “ 😂 all the top end then goes to Hell 😞 😢. And finally it speeds up and down too ! What gives 🤷🏾♂️ !?? As of last Sunday the audio Still sounded like Trash…..it starts good then goes down hill, it’s sad to hear the difference between the Audio leaving the desk and the stuff coming out on the stream .
I will do a test later . Is Any one using a mobile Mifi device to tether a pc via Wi-Fi while on remote locations aka 4G/ 5G?
Some venues just don’t have dedicated Ethernet .
And some mobile providers have horrible network speeds .
