Dig his authenticity and openness with his thought process. Interesting watching this relative to a Valby interview where the answers tend to be pretty closed off and canned. Much respect for Conner.
I could never fathom running a 10K when I was running many years ago; 25 laps around the track just seemed insufferable. 5K (12.5 laps) was do-able, so was a 10K cross country race or street race, but the 10K on a track wasn't going to happen for me.
I agree. I did two 10,000s on the track my freshman year of college. The first one wasn't too bad for some reason, but the second one, I was absolutely miserable. I was so done after 7 laps and had 18 to go. I never raced longer than 5k again.
You must be kidding. Conner Mantz is strong among the American, but nothing in a world-class race. Don't forget, he has not surpassed Galen Rupp's PB in the half and the full marathon yet. Until then, I am not betting on Mantz. You seriously think he has the chance against the likes of Bekele, Kipchoge, Lemma, Kipruto etc? Don't even think about the East African just yet. Do you think he has a shot against Suguru Osako? I don't think so. He may get in top 10 at the Paris Olympics, but that's about it.
@@sirbedivere5670 Hmmm, I wouldn't bet against Conner. He always tries to win regardless of the competition. He will not be intimidated by the other world class athletes.
Fit is fit. He ran that 10K as a workout. I don't understand why people become critical if he runs a race that is not a marathon or a marathon pace workout. Running a 10K helps him keep a fast pace which will help his fitness at the end of a marathon. Several other successful marathon runners have done the exact same thing...he mentioned Meb. Listen to the whole video and learn something.
Just shows the mental battle that ultra fit pro runners go through just to maintain the pace they run at. So hard on the mind and body.
Great guy.

The only way is to get past that mentality. If you can do it on the road you can do it on the track.

Can someone give him some water?
He’s a baller but sub 27 was unrealistic! Still made it super exciting to watch though.
What a beast 🔥🔥🔥
Bro can really jump in the 1500 and still be competitive.
Nah but he a savage tho. Makes racing more entertaining
Connor is very realistic in his mindset
Got some cash finishing 6th.... LOL
Inshallah he wins gold in the marathon.
White guy on hot hilly marathon? Lol
@@lowzyyy you sound like a salty McGregor fan. Conner Mantz and Khabib are the 🐐

@@Davbaldwin1 You think he can beat the Africans... you clearly know nothing about marathons.
Not sure why he even ran it to begin with. He should focus on the marathon
Prob part of the training, he said Clayton was running a different 10k as well
Yeah you totally know what’s best for him and what his goals are 😂
Speed is focusing on the marathon. You don't run, do you?
You also realize he just won the Boulder to Boulder 10k right? One of, if not the biggest 10ks in the US... Stupid comment...
