Guy knows his stuff.
You may have figured out the right weekly mileage for your athlete and the correct tactics for the USATF. Trying to plan out your athlete tactics in an olympic final race. Where the $5000 bounty is an incentive that will cause a step change in tactics. What worked for USATF may not work for PARIS24.Different strokes for different events.
LA is not a copy for PARIS24. eastAfricans had travelled 24 Hrs to race. They were 12 hours jetlagged due to time zone. stakes were low and still Fisher could not hang with them.
Fisher hadn’t started any speed work yet. That has a major impact on hanging with them.
Look at how this aged, all these comments just to be proven wrong. Love it!
wow what an incredibly eloquent coach with great precision and clarity. Great interview. This coach really has a great big picture philosophy. Great interview, great questions, great answers. Does this coach Mike Scannell work with a bunch of other elite athletes? Seems like he is at the top of his game. All other coaches should watch this interview to get tips on coaching AND how to give a worthwhile interview
Too bad the interview was done in the post race area. A longer and more in depth conversation with Mike would be interesting, but it was a good interview.
The interview ending made me mad, I swear I could have kept listening for like 10 more mins at the least. Conversation was just starting to get interesting
