I rather enjoy roleplay mechanics like Kai's fear of combat. Wanted to incentivize people to take negatives such as this by allowing them to gain something out of it. A good example: allowing someone to choose their devil fruit if they take a debilitating negative, be it losing a leg to get it or higher chance of being swayed by their emotions in certain situations. (An interesting concept was a merchant with a circle circle fruit that acts as the magic to create Robes of many things having the negative effect of charging party members from healing to saving their lives when they're downed)
Yokan is the definition of trying to have your cake and eat it too. She, just like the title says, tries to do things by the book, but she is also an overachiever. How are you all battered and bruised, but you still want to keep going into danger? Either way, Spooky playa the character perfectly.

How was that any different than William started out?? I never doubted Yokan could be a great team leader. I would personally make Damian second in command. Then for a surprise Kai is the moral support of the team, much like Duros was, and he can tag team with Bradley to be the voice of reason. The other two seem to be more judge, jury, and execution.
My group started on a beach, and ended up at a pirate base on the other side of the small island by the end of the session and they didn't even get to fight before we to be continued in our little 2 hour thing.

Bradley: Momentarily believed ducks were a kind of fish. Laughed at one of Taiga's jokes. For some reason, I feel compelled to point out how Rogue-like his conduct has been so far. GBU medical knowledge on full display, saving the lives of two crewmates. Suffered two sword wounds. Prior assessment stands. Yokan: Enthusiastic response to the prospect of promotion. Regard for Marines may be in part to do with deeply personal experience regarding the [There's a handwritten note adding the words "monstrous and illegal"] slave trade. Can I mention that mihawk was a notorious marine killer with the name of a bird and known for slashing and now we have a marine killer organization with the logo of a bird getting slashed. It's not mihawk cause the time line isn't right ( he became a warlord way before this) but I am curious if rustage took inspiration from him.
I can feel the essence of a large plot unfolding as we're being gradually shown the wider world from the marine perspective. Can't wait for the future interactions from the team and their superiors

They all give main protagonist energy Kai is the shounen protagonist Bradley is the Deutagonist aka the best bro/rival. Damian is the Seinen protagonist jaded and callous due to some mysterious past. Yokan is basically Mikasa a bad ass who takes no shit from anyone but is still friendly enough to not be a social outcast.

I'd say Damian works best as leader he's more mission oriented and is quite flexible being able to take ideas of his teammates while more of a realist compared to Yokan who's more of an idealist.

Am I the only one who sees Daimian as a leader and not Yokan? I mean, Yokan seems more like a second in command, whereas Daimian seems more experienced and a little more caring for others. on the team (even taiga) while still holding a hatred for pirates. And he seems to like taking the lead. And the others seem to follow him when he does. P.S. No hate to Yokan or 2Spooky.
I do to, they even have Damian standing front and center during the intro. I fear that Tekking's main character energy is going to extend to Kai. He might accidentally take over the series.

But I also feel like the Marine team should be Different from the pirate crew in the sense that pirates should be more wild and free while Marines should be more careful and steadfast. Marines don't only deal with pirates; they also have to handle the citizens after the pirate attacks. And do many other things. And i just feel Daimian fits that ideal very well
Yeah me too, Kai currently doesn't have it risk his life much less to lead, Bradley doesn't take things too seriously he just goes with the flow and Yokan is quite unaware of what being a marine really is and just idolizes them. Damian while not without his flaws he definitely has what it takes.

Hopefully they have a dendenmushi to convey the info about the secret phrase to HQ. They should have one. They ain't solo pirates anymore. I'd like to give a Happy birthday to Rustage, so accomplished at the age of 2 honestly an inspiration. With idea you'll grow as old as our friend Lostpause i'd like to offer some some advice for the coming years. When it comes to magic items you might want to give out more this time round. The devil fruits you made are awesome examples of items that can level as you go but there are other official ones you can find to give each f the crew. That way they can have something nice that really compliments there class along with an item fr powers. Characters do each have three attunemnts slots after all. Ofcourse not very campaign has to have a bunch of magic items out the a** but, there a lot of items that can be given to player to represent the idea that your players have learned techniques that present in the one piece world. I have some ideas and examples further below but mainly just want to see you continue to enjoy yourselves. Character specific magic items: this would be magic itmes that level up as the crew professes . Most of these don't have actual multiple level up abilities instead they come in three versions each one better than the last. When it comes to leveling these up i recommend giving them each one as they enter a new Tier of gameplay. Tier 1(1-4), Tier 2(5-9), Tier 3(10-14), Tier 4(15-20). getting these upgrades is a mechanical way to show both physical growth and charxcater growth as each item could have a connection to the character. Bradely/Dragon's Wrath Weapon: This can be found in fizbans Treasure of dragons which is the same for Yokan's item. It has 4 stages so he could have the first one now since it is built as an uncommon in that state. This could be a version of whatever weapon you current using for fishman Karate but give it thunder damage since fishman character is shockwaves which thunder represents. You could even describe it as some special fishman brasskniuckles made out of certain shells. Or as a item given to the recruits as a job well done. Damien/All purpose tool: this is found in Tashas's Cauldron of everything which is the same for Kai's item. This one could start as just the built in mechanisms in Damien then at level 5 he get's the official item in it's +1 form than +2 than +3. At most all he's getting is the bonus and the extra cantrip it's any cany cantrip so it's still fun and versatile. Kai/Moon Sickle: This starts of a just one of his many hooks that he has but it's like a monger hook a. THis one with how it is worded can make it so ekking can do the goodberry trick and have very good berry give 1d4+1 hp istenad of one. If you rule it the other way then he rolls the D4 when he casts the spell and each berry will restore 1 plus whatever rolled instead either way cheap and easy on demand mini healing potions for a party without a main healer. the +1,2,3 bonus is also good for spells since i have a feeling trekking will go beast master and/or pick up summon beast so the bonus to his spell attack will help him mange ability scores and keep his pet useful. Yokan/Dragonhide belt: Okay so this can obvoisly just be the belt she has from training with her grandpa, or a headband, or arm wrapps a bunch of things. both abilities will be very useful for making monk compete better as levels increase especially the reagin ki points points ability.
You know yokan in her navy uniform looks like a chef that cut the sleeves of of her chef's uniform but other then that she actually looks like a very professional no nonsense chef all she's missing is a chef's hat

It's not mihawk cause the time line isn't right ( he became a warlord way before this) but I am curious if rustage took inspiration from him.

Yokan has serious main character energy, strong, noble, intimidating, and still kind of foolish/dumb in certain areas
They all give main protagonist energy Kai is the shounen protagonist Bradley is the Deutagonist aka the best bro/rival.

I'd say Damian works best as leader he's more mission oriented and is quite flexible being able to take ideas of his teammates while more of a realist compared to Yokan who's more of an idealist.

Am I the only one who sees Daimian as a leader and not Yokan? I mean, Yokan seems more like a second in command, whereas Daimian seems more experienced and a little more caring for others. on the team (even taiga) while still holding a hatred for pirates. And he seems to like taking the lead. And the others seem to follow him when he does.
P.S. No hate to Yokan or 2Spooky.
I do to, they even have Damian standing front and center during the intro. I fear that Tekking's main character energy is going to extend to Kai. He might accidentally take over the series.
Damian strikes me as the kind of guy who doesn't want to be the leader, he just wants to support other people.

But I also feel like the Marine team should be Different from the pirate crew in the sense that pirates should be more wild and free while Marines should be more careful and steadfast. Marines don't only deal with pirates; they also have to handle the citizens after the pirate attacks. And do many other things. And i just feel Daimian fits that ideal very well
Yeah me too, Kai currently doesn't have it risk his life much less to lead, Bradley doesn't take things too seriously he just goes with the flow and Yokan is quite unaware of what being a marine really is and just idolizes them. Damian while not without his flaws he definitely has what it takes.

I'd like to give a Happy birthday to Rustage, so accomplished at the age of 2 honestly an inspiration. With idea you'll grow as old as our friend Lostpause i'd like to offer some some advice for the coming years. When it comes to magic items you might want to give out more this time round. The devil fruits you made are awesome examples of items that can level as you go but there are other official ones you can find to give each f the crew. That way they can have something nice that really compliments there class along with an item fr powers. Characters do each have three attunemnts slots after all. Ofcourse not very campaign has to have a bunch of magic items out the a** but, there a lot of items that can be given to player to represent the idea that your players have learned techniques that present in the one piece world. I have some ideas and examples further below but mainly just want to see you continue to enjoy yourselves.
Character specific magic items: this would be magic itmes that level up as the crew professes . Most of these don't have actual multiple level up abilities instead they come in three versions each one better than the last. When it comes to leveling these up i recommend giving them each one as they enter a new Tier of gameplay. Tier 1(1-4), Tier 2(5-9), Tier 3(10-14), Tier 4(15-20). getting these upgrades is a mechanical way to show both physical growth and charxcater growth as each item could have a connection to the character.
Bradely/Dragon's Wrath Weapon: This can be found in fizbans Treasure of dragons which is the same for Yokan's item. It has 4 stages so he could have the first one now since it is built as an uncommon in that state. This could be a version of whatever weapon you current using for fishman Karate but give it thunder damage since fishman character is shockwaves which thunder represents. You could even describe it as some special fishman brasskniuckles made out of certain shells. Or as a item given to the recruits as a job well done.
Damien/All purpose tool: this is found in Tashas's Cauldron of everything which is the same for Kai's item. This one could start as just the built in mechanisms in Damien then at level 5 he get's the official item in it's +1 form than +2 than +3. At most all he's getting is the bonus and the extra cantrip it's any cany cantrip so it's still fun and versatile.
Kai/Moon Sickle: This starts of a just one of his many hooks that he has but it's like a monger hook a. THis one with how it is worded can make it so ekking can do the goodberry trick and have very good berry give 1d4+1 hp istenad of one. If you rule it the other way then he rolls the D4 when he casts the spell and each berry will restore 1 plus whatever rolled instead either way cheap and easy on demand mini healing potions for a party without a main healer. the +1,2,3 bonus is also good for spells since i have a feeling trekking will go beast master and/or pick up summon beast so the bonus to his spell attack will help him mange ability scores and keep his pet useful.
Yokan/Dragonhide belt: Okay so this can obvoisly just be the belt she has from training with her grandpa, or a headband, or arm wrapps a bunch of things. both abilities will be very useful for making monk compete better as levels increase especially the reagin ki points points ability.
